~ Sticks the Badger |
Sticks the Badger is a major character in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, debuting in the Sonic Boom series.
She is an anthropomorphic jungle badger and a force of nature in every way.
She has spent most of her life living alone and flourishing in the wilderness and is as such new to friends in general. After meeting Sonic and his friends, however, she forms a strong bond with the group, particularly with Amy Rose.
She is voiced by Nika Futterman, who also voices Luna Loud from The Loud House and Chum Chum from Fanboy & Chum Chum.
Personality[]
Sticks, due to years of living alone in the wild, is paranoid and eccentric.
Biography[]
Past[]
Sticks grew up in the wild for most of her life, and as such is unfamiliar with the modern world, resulting in her paranoia over robots, government agents, aliens and anything suspicious in general. Eventually, she met Sonic and his team and became friends with them.
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric[]
Sticks is a minor character in this game. She is featured in a side quest that requires to collect and bring to her all Shinies from the game's levels and hub worlds. She also appears in the ending cutscene, where she is given a piece of scrap by Amy and decides to use it as a spatula.
Since it's implied by some lines of dialogue that Team Sonic visits Bygone Island, where Sticks lives, for the first time in this game, it can be assumed that they also meet Sticks for the first time.
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal[]
Sticks appears as one of the four playable characters. Learning from Sonic and Tails that Amy got captured by Lyric the Last Ancient, she set off to rescue her friend and defeat Lyric herself, only to be stopped by Sonic. She thus joined his party and helped him reach the villain's hideout, eventually rescuing Amy and witnessing Shadow defeat Lyric.
TV Series[]
In the TV series, she is part of Sonic's team of heroes, and she works like the eccentric girl of the team who says things that don't make sense.
Other Media[]
Sonic Frontiers[]
A version of Sticks is revealed to exist within the mainline Sonic the Hedgehog series and has met Amy Rose at some point. She is mentioned by Amy during the games ending.
Relationships[]
Amy Rose[]
Amy Rose is Sticks' best friend. The two spend a lot of time together, be it a girls' night out or a trip to a volcano. Amy is also very supportive of Sticks, remaining by the badger's side even when she's shunned by the whole village because of her ancestry. Even so, Amy can easily get annoyed by Sticks' constant paranoia.
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
As a member of his team, Sticks is a good friend of Sonic's. They are somewhat similar in their occasional recklessness, but Sonic can get on Sticks' nerves with his arrogance just as easily as she can get on his with her behavior.
Miles "Tails" Prower[]
Despite being friends, Tails and Sticks have a somewhat uneasy relationship due to the former being fond of technology and the latter distrusting and even hating it. Sticks is sure that most of Tails' inventions will lead to terrible consequences, and at times she turns out to be right. Despite being nearly polar opposites, the two remain on friendly terms most of the time, and Tails doesn't hesitate to give Sticks any assistance if she needs it.
Knuckles the Echidna[]
Out of all Team Sonic members, Knuckles is the one Sticks has the most strained relationship with. She considers the echidna expendable enough to get him killed and sometimes even subjects him to physical abuse over minor misdemeanors. Like others, she is annoyed by Knuckles's stupidity at times. Nonetheless, it can't be said that Sticks doesn't care for Knuckles at all, as she isn't against helping him out, and if the episode "Knuck Knuck! Who's Here?" is to be believed, considers him close to a family member.
Trivia[]
- Many fans initially mistook Sticks for a supposed Sonic Boom incarnation of Marine due to their similar physical appearances.
- Sticks the Badger's name is mentioned in Sonic Frontiers alongside Tangle the Lemur, which makes it the first time their names are mentioned in the mainline Sonic the Hedgehog games.
- Prior to this mention of her, Sticks appeared in Sonic Comic alongside character from the mainstream universe, further indicating that she exists in that continuity as well.
