He was voiced by Dennis Haysbert; who also played Zipper in Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

Personality[]

As a young man, being a street-fighter, Ox was arrogant, narcissistic and cheeky, always thinking of greed for money rather than a sense of nobility, thinking that one day he would get rich and thought Street-fights were a loss. of time and when he got rich he would spend his time counting his money.

However, he also felt sensitivity, as seeing Oogway seemingly die and then a village ravaged by the Wu Sisters, along with Rhino and Croc they decided to forget about the money and set off to stop Wu Sisters in honor and realized it was the best thing to do.

In the film, after Rhino's death of Shen, Ox believed he had no hope of him and with Croc submitted to him, until Shifu convinced them to get back on track, regaining his honor.

History[]

Begginings[]

Storming Ox was a young man who often jumped out of his chores and sneaked through Gongmen City into the palace to see Master Rhino train. And one day he was paid for it.

Secrets of the Masters[]

In a flashback told by Po it is said that Storming Ox was once a street-fighter who spent his days fighting on the street in attempts to get money using his "Tactical Brilliance". One day he had a street fight with Thundering Rhino and Croc, the scene was assisted by Oogway watching them having tea at a bar and he was not at all impressed by the three, until he saw Wu Sisters escape from a nearby prison and immediately thought this was an opportunity to reason with the trio.

The fight of the three ended in a draw and the three were given only one coin to split into three, which led the trio to quarrel and they almost started another battle between them. Oogway however, I arrive a second before they started beating each other again and after telling them who he was, he also informed them that Wu Sisters had escaped, much to their shock. Oogway offered them a chance to stop the Wu Sisters, but the trio refused to accept unless they got something in return. After Oogway unsuccessfully tried to get him to do it for honorable reasons, he was forced to say that after the mission they would get "wealth of riches", seeing this as an opportunity to earn an immense fortune of money, Ox eventually agreed along with Croc and Rhino.

So, Ox, Corc and Rhino along with Oogway ventured to the Wu Fortess, going through many dangers on the way. While crossing the Bamboo Forest, Ox tried to get Oogway to ditch Croc and Rhino and split the swag between them, only Rhino and Croc were trying to do the same thing between them and him, however Oogway refused. all their offers. The night around the hearth, Ox clarified his wishes along with Croc and Rhino in Oogway: spending his days counting the money he apparently will earn. After listening to the trio's cravings, Oogway told the three tips for this: When the path you take always leads back to yourself, they will never get anywhere unless you "change course". Before they could go to sleep, Oogway received the message that Wu Sisters were gathering all the evil gangs to besiege China, so the group immediately set off to get to their destination as soon as possible.

To encourage the three to change course, Oogway made them go down a very dangerous road, called the Bridge of Mists. When Rhino, Ox, and Croc wondered how they would cross it, Oogway in response threw all three of them onto the bridge, forcing them to cling to the pillars. This was actually a lesson in cooperation, as Oogway crossed and pulled up Rhino, he did the same with Ox and Croc, so that they finally managed to cross the bridge.

When they arrived at Wu Fortress, they tried to climb it with difficulty, and that's where they realized that Oogway was metaphorical when he spoke of the promised riches, with the dismayed Ox saying “We have been deceived. My father used to say: Never trust a turtle””. Their protests accidentally caused them to fall into the river of lava, due to Rhino's kicking on the ledge they were standing on. Oogway managed to get them to safety, but then fell to his apparent death from a lava cascade, with a final message left to the trio, "Remember the path", to guide them.

The trio felt discouraged after that and decided to go home, however on the way back they passed through a village devastated by Wu Sisters. The inhabitants were desperate and begged the trio to help them, even paying them with everything they had, and it was then that they understood the sense of nobility and refused the pay and decided to return to stop Wu Sisters.

The three broke into the Wu Fortess just as Wu Sisters were planning with the evil gang leaders to besiege China, and when the ex-Street-Fighters revealed that they were no longer doing it for money they scared the evil gangs who left them behind. fight Wu Sisters alone. Furious Wu Sisters, they attacked the trio, sending Ox flying after being hit by the whirlwind, but Rhino reminded him and Croc that they had to get him together. So, with a high jump, Ox found the Wu's weak point was the knot between their tails in the center of the vortex, so that Croc could with his tough hide position the vortex so that Rhino could separate them with a horn and so that the trio fight, they eventually managed to defeat them by finally trapping them under a large statue head.

Immediately after their victory, Oogway appeared behind them and praised them for their worthy win and for finding true purpose to fight. According to Po, after these events Oogway set Ox and his fellow warriors on a journey which eventually led them to Gongmen City where they formed the Masters Council.

Kung Fu Panda 2[]

Decades after Thundering Rhino, Storming Ox and Croc assumed responsibility for Gongmen City after the Legitimate Rulers died alongside Soothsayer, Ox is responsible to protect the City alongside his companies. Ox is first seen training with Croc and Rhino in the courtyard of the Gongmen City palace with Soothsayer watching them until Lord Shen unexpectedly bursts into the courtyard where they are. Although they are surprised by his return after all these decades and after Shen asks them to leave his home, Ox and his companions quickly make it clear that they will defend the city from anything, Shen is somewhat grateful to hear these words as some of his wolves they bring a large wooden chest into the courtyard.

After Storming Ox asked what is in the box, he replies with a very sadistic feeling that it is their "parting gift" and that he would slowly separate them. Outraged Ox launches into the attack with Croc, but Shen manages to knock them down only to be defeated by Thundering Rhino who breaks his blades, but then Rhino is killed by what was inside Shen's chest: a cannon. With his partner dead and fearing that Shen would turn the weapon at the city, Ox reluctantly submits to Shen and they are both locked up in the Gongmen Jail.

Rounds later, Po and Furious Five arrive in Gongmen City to defeat Shen, first they stop at Gongmen Jail to free Ox and Corc to help them, but the two Masters are convinced that it is useless to try to defeat Shen because of his weapon and not even after an argument with Po who insists on trying to get them out of the cell and with Ox who still proves to be capable in the fight by breaking a bar and knocking down the cell door and then he and Croc just entered the cell opposite because they don't want to know, with a sorry Ox telling Po that Kung Fu is now dead, with great shock from Po and the Five who finally decide to leave them where they are. they stay, also because they are forced to flee when Boss Wolf and his soldiers arrive.

Later that night Po and the Five return to Gongmen Jail to hide there with Ox and Croc who are now enraged because there is total chaos now with Shen and his wolves about to set sail and ask the group what they have been up to. However, they are ignored due to an argument between Po and Tigress that ends with Tigress deciding that Po stays in Jail with Ox and Croc keeping him out of trouble with them agree, but then Po starts fighting with Tigress for want to follow Shen. Eventually, Po reveals the reason why he is behind Shen, everyone is moved by it, but Tigress although he understands Po's motives, prefers that he stay in Jail with Ox and Croc to avoid danger. With the Five leaving Po, Ox and Croc try to console Po and tell him it's best, however Po doesn't listen to them and follows Shen anyway.

Storming Ox and Croc have been in jail for a long time, until Shifu arrives in Gongmen City to help his students and convinces Ox and Croc to help them too, just as Shen is setting sail for China. They unexpectedly appear with Shifu to fight when Po and the Five are doing the same with the army. All of them fight honorably, until they are detonated in the harbor by Shen's cannon. All are too badly injured to continue fighting, except for Po, who has learned to rule Inner Peace and thus manages to evade, deflect and reflect Shen's guns at his own fleet, destroying it in the process, with Ox and all the others who are watching.

After Po defeated Shen, Ox along with the others was impressed by Po hugging Tigress. However, he remained happy with Croc and the others during the firework parade to celebrate the Masters victory under Shen's wrecked ship. After that Ox and Croc returned to their Master Couincil posts to rule and protect Gongmen City.

Trivia[]

  • Storming Ox's design originated from an early villain concept for the first film as part of Tai Lung's army.
  • Storming Ox was one of the challenging characters to model and animate due to him being a naturally non-upright-walking animal. Modeling supervisor Jason Turner explains that "characters with a heavy upper body and torso have a lot of mass to resolve when their legs come up or they have to sit down. [They] don't stand upright in nature because they aren't equipped with the correct anatomy to do so. Modeling them for our film required intense thinking and testing to find the right balance in their build.
