The Stranger is the narrator of the 1998 film The Big Lebowski played by Sam Elliot, who also voiced Ben in Barnyard.
History[]
The Stranger is a cowboy who narrates the film. He is very wise and doesn't appreciate most people who swear.
In interviews the Coen brothers mentioned that Sam Elliot's big mustache helped in the editing. They were able to move lines around without losing the lip-sync effect.
The Stranger appears, like clockwork, at the beginning, middle and end of the movie. He can be heard at the very beginning of the movie's first scene, appears in the middle at the bowling alley bar and then again at the bowling alley bar at the very end and delivers the closing lines of the movie.
