~ Stratosphere introducing himself to the Autobots |
Stratosphere is a supporting character who features in both the original and rebooted Transformers film series, although in the former's case he only features in tie-in media. He is a large Autobot flier who can act as transport to his allies.
In Dark of the Moon video game prequel, Stratosphere is voiced by Travis Willingham. In Rise of the Beasts, Stratosphere is voiced by John DiMaggio.
History[]
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts[]
Stratosphere first appears in the film when Optimus summoned him to transport himself and his companions so they can retrieve the other half of The Transwarp key. However, Elena, Noah, and Mirage have their concerns flying on him. Mirage states he is walking to Peru after Stratosphere coughs up an engine. He flies Optimus, the Autobots, and the humans, Elena Wallace and Noah Diaz to Peru, with Airazor flying alongside him.
While they are on Stratosphere, Elena and Noah bond before the latter insists that they have to destroy the Key to prevent Unicron's return. Meanwhile, Optimus becomes more determined to return to Cybertron so they can revive Bumblebee after he was killed by Scourge in battle. The group safely lands, meeting Wheeljack along the way.
After the Autobots, Noah, and Elena meet Optimus Primal and the rest of the Maximals, Stratosphere flies to the village they are hiding out in. He lands, carrying Bumblebee's body and laying him down on a final resting place. However, they see that the Valley is filled with Energon, but Primal fears that this will not be enough to revive Bumblebee because they would not be able to wield enough energy to use the Energon running in th valley.
Later during the battle, against the Maximals, the Terrorcons, and the Autobots, Stratosphere was present when Bumblebee was revived by the Energon running in the valley. This happened with the arrival of Unicron through a Transwarp gate. The activation of the gate caused the Energon in the area to ignite and flow, reviving Bumblebee in time for his arrival to the final battle. He then flew Bumblebee to the battlefield, where the Autobot sky-dived from Stratosphere and came to aid their friends at the last moment. After Optimus closed the space bridge and prevented Unicron from consuming the Earth, Stratosphere flew the Autobots, Noah, and Elena back to the United States.
Personality[]
Stratosphere was a kind and noble Autobot who helped his fellow Autobots travel long distances. However, Mirage, Noah and Elena were disgusted when he coughed up one of his engines. He was saddened by Bumblebee's temporary death until his resurrection, and overjoyed by his friend's resurrection. Stratosphere flew Bee to towards the battlefield, hoping to help his allies prevent Unicron from consuming the planet.
Appearance[]
In the reboot verse, his robot mode greatly resembles an mustachioed aeronaut, with the window panels acting as his googles.
