Heroine Overview

Welcome to Strawberryland, where things are going better all the time!
~ Strawberry Shortcake introduces us to her homeworld.

Strawberry Shortcake is the titular main protagonist of the Strawberry Shortcake franchise.

In the 80s show, the character was voiced by the late Russi Taylor.

Description

Strawberry Shortcake has changed her character multiple times in each generation.

Personality

While we know nothing of her personality from the cancelled 2017 series, Strawberry Shortcake has changed her personality several times, but is always kind, resourceful, and always ready to help a friend in need.

1980s

In the 1980s, Strawberry Shortcake is a bright and perky young girl. She is kind, friendly, supportive, and always ready to help a friend in need. She loves strawberries and baking. She has some spunk as shown when she threatened to bombard the Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak with "Berry Talk" for making giving her a bad publicity, but is very soft as well and sensitive, and she cries often which can be expected as she is a kid.

2003 series

In her most well-known incarnation, Strawberry Shortcake is athletic and enjoys playing sports or riding horses, and is a creative baker at the same time. She also likes gardening, and takes good care of her garden. She is also very forgiving to others, even if she's wronged very much, although she would not hesitate to fight if she has to. She is also the one responsible for most of the big events.

2009 series (Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures)

Here, Strawberry Shortcake is drained of her former tomboyish traits and flanderised into a girly girl. She still has fun and has something of an athletic streak, and she's a good chef.

2021 series (Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City)

Strawberry Shortcake is depicted as energetic, but still good at baking. She also has an apparent fetish for puns. She lives in the big city with her friends and going on adventures.

Physical Appearance

Strawberry Shortcake looks different between her different generations, but tends to have a strawberry motif, appropriate to her name.

  • In her first appearance, Strawberry Shortcake wore a red long-sleeved dress with a strawberry pattern. Her hat resembled a strawberry shortcake.
  • Her 2003 incarnation has a pink sunhat with strawberries drawn on it and a band that has a green and white ribbon with a strawberry on it, a red long-sleeved shirt with white stripes, a reddish jacket around her waist akin to a belt, blue jeans, and brown loafers. Her hair in this incarnation is messy auburn.
    • In later episodes, particularly in 2007, Strawberry Shortcake wears a pink and white striped jacket with a pink shirt underneath. Her hair has been recoloured as maroon in this form, and her shoes have been changed to pink Mary Jane shoes. Her jeans are also more detailed slightly, and the jacket that was wrapped around her waist is missing.
  • Her 2009 appearance has long, bright red hair. Her outfit consists of a pink strawberry-themed cap with a green visor, a white T-shirt with green diamonds and a strawberry on the front, and a pink strawberry-themed skirt.
  • In the 2021 series, Strawberry Shortcake wears her pink long hair down and has a strawberry beanie on. Her outfit consists of a strawberry-themed beanie, a white dress with a strawberry drawn on it, a blue denim jacket, green and white leggings, and red sneakers.

History

In her earliest adventures, Strawberry's home was a shortcake surrounded by well-tended strawberry vines, but in 1983 she moved into her "Berry Happy Home", a large and ornate mansion.

Trivia

  • Despite being a girl, Strawberry Shortcake has her name changed to "Moranguinho" in Brazil. However, her gender isn't changed.
  • Strawberry Shortcake seems to have a dislike for herbal tea, making it the only food that she has ever shown a disgust towards.
