Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: "With great power comes great responsibility."

Streetwise (ストリートワイズ Sutorītowaizu) (sometimes known as Streetstar or Streetsmart) is a member of the emergency Autobots called the Protectobots. He transforms into a Nissan Fairlady Z 300ZX (Z31) police car . Like his name, he is a "street-savvy" law enforcer who know his job like a police officer. He is known for his skill & determination as an investigator. If there is any threat that the Protectobots have to regroup to deal wtih, Streetwise is the one pointing them out for his team.
History[]
When the Insecticons attacked an inhabited city on Earth, Optimus Prime called upon the Protectobots to evacuate the civilians caught in the crossfire. Streetwise was carrying civilians when he discovered an injured man and called First Aid over to help him. Later, as Earth's orbit was diverted to the Sun by the Combaticons, Streetwise and Groove commandeered a meat locker to keep the overheated humans cool. Streetwise assured Groove that given the constantly rising temperatures outside, the humans would not freeze to death.
Streetwise, as part of Defensor, completely blew up Bruticus. Afterward, he was with the Protectobots when they saved some window-washers from a burning skyscraper, catching the humans when Blades blew them off their platform. Later still, Streetwise and the other Protectobots were ordered to help defend Autobot Headquarters from a Decepticon attack. Streetwise had a crowning moment of glory when he blasted Starscream out of the sky. The Protectobots then merged into Defensor, who activated his useless force field, which almost immediately deactivated, allowing the Decepticons to blast Defensor back into his component parts.
Comics[]
Streetwise debuted with the other Protectobots in the UK-exlcusive story "Second Generation", in which Optimus Prime and Buster Witwicky saw a vision of the future where they were deployed to protect humans at a stricken power plant and formed Defensor to battle Menasor.
This led into their Marvel US debut in Issue #24, where they accompanied Optimus Prime to Energy Future Industries to protect a hydrothermacline from Megatron and the Combaticons. It was agreed that the two parties would battle in virtual reality, with the winner of the losers dying in real life. Streetwise was teamed with First Aid who managed to earn the respect of some sentient vines in the simulation, who aided them in defeating Brawl and Swindle. However, Optimus Prime ended up conceding defeat on a technicality and was killed.
Streetwise's next major appearance was in Issue #32, where he and the other Protectobots were deployed by new Autobot leader Grimlock to hunt down the deserters Blaster and Goldbug. Arriving at the car lot where they and their allies the Throttlebots had been hiding out, Streetwise ended up in a tussle with the Combaticons, fighting Vortex. They took Blaster into custody after the Throttlebots had been captured by human anti-robot organisation RAAT. He made his last Marvel US appearance in Issue #35 where, en route back to the Ark, the Protectobots again tangled with the Combaticons. After Blaster protected a group of human children during the battle, Hot Spot chose to let him go.
In the UK-exclusive story "Stargazing", as one of the few Autobots left on Earth, Streetwise challenged Starscream when he mistakenly thought he was attacking a bus full of pensioners. He received a telling off from a boy trying to teach Starscream the spirit of Christmas, with Starscream wiling to rescue the bus from a snow drift just to humiliate Streetwise, who then escorted it to its destination. He later appeared in the UK annual story "Prime Bomb" under the command of a returned Optimus Prime, failing to stop either the Combaticons raiding a military base or Dreadwind and Darkwing stealing a disc containing a recording of Optimus Prime's personality.
Abilities & Weapons [1][]
Primary function: Interceptor[]
Abilities[]
- His police car mode can reach speeds of 180 mph (~ 290 km/h) with the range of 400 miles (~ 644 km).
- Streetwise has average strength & above average endurance. His most notable attribute is his incredible intelligence along with significant skill, thus making him one of the most notorious trackers of all Transformers.
- He's equipped with receptors that grant him access to computer systems & downloading available electronic information from local resources, which allows him to obtain maps, historical information & other data that benefits his hunt. His ability to adapt & mesh with cultures is very high & only second to Jazz.
- He serves as one of the limbs (mostly the left leg) for the gestalt form of the team - Defensor.
- In some occasions, he combines with his teammates (abeit Hot Spot), Heatrock & Skyfeather to form other special gestalt known as Gaia Guardian. Said combiner's components can also combine with Hot Spot to form an even stronger one known as God Guardian. He's sometimes involved in the formation of the gestalt form of White Gallant Convoy known as White Convoy Grand Prime which his fellow Protectobot Groove is also involved in.
Arsenal: Streetwise has significantly above average firepower[]
- His police car mode can deploy a trunk-mounted double-barreled air compressor cannon. Each shot from the weapon packs enough force knock a jet or an airborne hostile out of the sky. The effective range is 50 miles (~ 80.5 km).
- In robot mode, he wields a photon pistol that can shoot intense beams of lights with the equivalent brightness of 5,000 watt lightbulbs. Such effect can even blind some Transformers with the most heavily shielded optical sensors. The said weapon can also be set to fire light beams with more destruction capacity.
Weaknesses[]
- Streetwise's determination for his mission tends to make him ignore refueling, which potentially causes fuel depletion in the middle of his hunt.
- He's also prone to overheat if he relentlessly pushes himself while hunting his targets.
