Sturges is a supporting character Fallout 4, serving as a major character in the Minutemen storyline.
An escaped synth of the Institute, Sturges is a skilled repairman of the Minutemen who has the capability to fix or create anything with right parts.

Background[]
Sturges is an escaped synth from the Institute who would at some point in his life move to the town Quincy, becoming the town's repairman. He would make contact with the Atom Cats, a band of greasers who operate on power armor rather than cars, buying damaged power armor frames and restoring them to a working condition, When a band of mercenaries known as the Gunners attacked the town of Quincy, he would do his best to help fortify the town alongside their reinforcements from the Commonwealth Minutemen. When a rogue Minuteman named Clint sold out the Minutemen and the Town to the Gunners, Sturges was among the few survivors, escaping along with the remaining twenty survivors (Sturges, Preston, the Long family and Mama Murphy among them).
After a long treck losing many settlers, Sturges and the rest hold up in Concord in the Museum of Freedom, which would later come under siege by the Raiders of Corvega Assembly Plant. He and the others were then rescued by the Sole Survivor where sturges informs the Sole Survivor about a suit of pre-war T-45 power armor and the location of a fusion core to operate it, hoping they could use it to repel the attackers. Following their success over the raiders, Sturges and the group move to Sanctuary Hills where he helps repair the houses.
If the Sole Survivor turns to the Minutemen to create the teleporter to the Institute, Sturges is tasked with creating the device. Once the Sole Survivor gains access to the Institute he will ask them to upload a holotape in the Institute computer to download information from their mainframe, If the Sole Survivor sides with the Minutemen in the attack on the Institute then Sturges will accompany them and operate the teleporter, transporting in Minutemen reinforcements and later extracting the Minutemen and Institute Refugees out of the facility.
