Suki is a minor character in the 2024 Netflix adventure fantasy series Avatar: The Last Airbender, based on the Nickelodeon 2005-2008 animated series of the same name. She is the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors and one of Sokka's love interests.
She's portrayed by Maria Zhang.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Suki was born and raised by her mother Yukari on Kyoshi Island. To make up for her lack of bending powers, Suki became a skilled warrior. She eventually became the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors and her mom became mayor of the village.
Season 1[]
Warriors[]
When Team Avatar arrived on Kyoshi Island, Suki and her team captures them. However, Suki and the Warriors let them go when Kyoshi shines on Aang. Taking the team to their village, Suki manages to convince her mother to let the Gang stay at Kyoshi Island for 48 hours. However Yukari warns her daughter that the Avatar could be dangerous. Suki trains with the other Kyoshi Warriors and notices that Sokka is watching them. She later teaches Sokka how to position himself after watching him fight with his Boomerang. Throughout Sokka's training, the two become close and nearly kiss until the Fire Nation has arrived. When Zhao's forces engage the Kyoshi warriors in a fight, Suki, Sokka and the Warriors fight Fire Nation soldiers until Kyoshi (in Aang's body) drives them away.
Sokka and Suki bid each other farewell, with Suki's mother being inspired by team Avatar to take a stand against the Fire Nation. Before the team departs,

According to her mother, Suki is a fierce warrior with a kind heart. Despite being initially suspicious of Team Avatar, she vacant trusting of them when Kyoshi's statue shone on Aang. This is mostly due to how Suki respects how Kyoshi opened herself to kind strangers. Additionally, like any other teenager, Suki does get easily embarrassed when she warns praise from Yukari, who is a stern but loving mother towards Suki and can see there is a spark between Sokka and Suki. She will do whatever it takes to protect her village. It is also Suki's and Team Avatar's efforts that makes Yukari realize they need to make a stand against the Fire Nation.
Abilities[]
Suki is a strong and capable warrior who is has leadership and tactician skills. She is able to hold up against several soldiers of the Fire Nation with her razor sharp fans. Suki has stealth skills as well, being able to sneak up behind Sokka when it's least expected.

- It is unknown what happened to her father.
- Sokka and Suki's relationship is teased, reflecting their relationship in the series.
- Suki removes her makeup on front of Sokka, who doesn't see her without her makeup until the ferry to Ba Sing Se.
- Maria Zhang's casting was loved by critics and viewers, saying that she's stunning and perfectly befitting for Suki. In fact, many fans say she stole the show and is one of the best casting choices in the series.
