“ | Summer.. As class factotum, first I'd like to just say, welcome to Horace Green. | „ |
~ Summer Hathaway's first quote. |
Summer Hathaway is the deuteragonist of the 2003 film School of Rock. She is a 4th grader from elementary school and a band manager of School of Rock band lead by Dewey Finn (who's taking the identity as Mr. Schneebly after being voted out by No Vacancy).
She was portrayed by Miranda Cosgrove, who also played Margo Gru from Despicable Me series, Carly Shay from ICarly, and Megan Parker from Drake & Josh.
History[]
After Dewey Finn gets kicked out by his former band, No Vacancy, he gets a phone call by Principal Mullins from elementary school for Ned Schneebly to be a substitute, but Dewey impersonates his friend's career to take a job despite selling his equipment for rent money.
The next day, Dewey already devises a plan to form a new band to compete in Battle of the Bands after overhearing the students playing their instruments in music class. After Summer and the students agree for a new "class project", Dewey assigns the rest of the class for various roles and Summer to be a groupie, much to Summer's disappointment.
In the second school day, Summer (after learning that groupie is a slut) waits for Dewey to arrive and demands him for a better role, or she'll tell her mom about the "class project". Dewey assign her a more important role of all: band's manager, which someone is in charge of everything, and Summer finally accepts.
Two weeks later after learning about the band, Dewey and some of the students sneak out of the school and head into the audition while the others stay in class to maintain their cover. At the audition, they've been rejected because the bill is full. Summer gets an idea of tricking the judging staff by pretending to have a made-up terminal disease called "Stick-it-to-da-man-neosis", and her plan worked as the band judge adds the band to the bill.
On the night at parent-teacher conference, Summer and the students become disappointed that Dewey is actually a fraud when the police arrive with the real Ned Schneebly, called by Patty, and they weren't being graded with the whole project.
Trivia[]
- Summer is tone deaf and it means she stinks at singing. In real life Miranda Cosgrove is an excellent singer.
