Justice League: War[]
Mysterious kidnappings had been occurring across the country including Metropolis. Superman fought a Parademon and the battle led to a Lexcorp Construction Site near the Daily Planet. The Parademon blew up during the fight and Batman and Green Lantern, thinking Superman was linked to the Parademons, fought Superman. Superman quickly subdued Green Lantern and choked Batman, but Green Lantern attacked Superman to save Batman. Superman got angry and attacked them both. Green Lantern created an energy bubble around him and Batman and Superman punched it across Metropolis. He eventually broke the bubble but Batman and Green Lantern were unharmed. Batman stopped Superman by calling him "Clark" and reminded him that although he bruises, he doesn't kill. Superman was shocked and stopped fighting. He told Batman he made his point and x-rayed his mask to find out Batman was Bruce Wayne. Batman and Green Lantern talked to Superman about the mother box, telling him they thought it was alien. But Superman said it was not Kryptonian. The police spotted the heroes and they escaped in the Metropolis sewers.
In the bottom of the Daily Planet, Superman, Batman and Green Lantern discussed the invasion more thoroughly. Batman deduced it was the first step in a full scale invasion. Suddenly, the mother box exploded to unleash an army of Parademons. Superman, Batman and Green Lantern fought their way through the Parademons and while they fought, Superman heard a distress call from Airforce One. He left the heroes to go save Airforce One.
Superman saved Airforce One from falling after it lost an engine during an invasion of Parademons, Superman fought off the Parademons with Heat Vision and was helped by Wonder Woman who impressed him with her strength.
Superman and Wonder Woman arrived with Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern and Shazam wondering what to do next. Victor Stone arrived, newly transformed into a Cyborg. Wonder Woman attacked Cyborg thinking he was a Parademon, but Cyborg's armor blasted Wonder Woman back. Superman was angry and prepared to attack Cyborg. Cyborg insisted he was not with the Parademons and the Flash stopped Superman from attacking saying that Cyborg was telling the truth.
Cyborg explained that he talked to the Parademon technology and that the Parademons were planning to terraform the Earth. They all watched as the Parademons leader, Darkseid, personally arrives on earth. Superman, at first, dismissed Darkseid saying "He doesn't look that tough". But Darkseid proved to be more than a formidable opponent who easily knocked out Superman and any other hero who tried to attack him. After destroying most of the area, Darkseid blasted two Omega Beams at Superman and the Flash. While the Flash managed to avoid his blast, Superman was caught, knocked unconscious and taken to Apokolips by Parademons.
On Apokolips, DeSaad tortures Superman as he attempts to process his mind and body to control for Darkseid. Superman was so tortured that he remained unconscious. Batman later arrived on Apokolips to save Superman from DeSaad. Batman unlocked Superman after knocking down DeSaad, but the shutting down of the machine awakened a darker, angrier Superman. DeSaad was killed by Superman while trying to flee, who attacked Batman. the Dark Knight engages Superman in battle, attempting to free him from Darkseid's control.
Later, after the Caped Crusader freed the Man of Steel from his brainwashing, Superman and Batman head back to Earth where they help the other heroes fight Darkseid. Darkseid tried to take Superman with him to Apokolips again, but Superman refused and knocked Darkseid back. When the other heroes trapped Darkseid in the portal opening, Superman delivered the final blow to Darkseid and sent him back to Apokolips.
Later, as the heroes were being congratulated, Superman talked with Wonder Woman, appreciating that he met some folks who get him and Wonder Woman told Superman that the other heroes were "Each a god in their own right", she had never met anyone like Superman, God or mortal. Superman was pleased and Wonder Woman and Superman looked at each other deeply. Debating whether the heroes should be a team if a similar threat were to happen, the President of the United States asked whether they had a name. The newly formed group was annoyed when Shazam abruptly announced them as the "Super Seven" without the others' approval.
Justice League: Throne of Atlantis[]
A US submarine is ambushed by some unknown force underwater; when Cyborg inspects the wreckage, he finds that something or things humanoid physically tore through the metal. Cyborg realises that the submarine's missiles had been taken, and analyses surveillance footage, which provides further info on the attackers, but before he can further determine the attackers, he is ambushed, too; the attackers stab a dagger in his shoulder, while another cuts off his right arm. Cyborg uses a boom tube to escape.
Superman, as Clark Kent, introduces the idea of blending in with the civilian population to Wonder Woman, who similarly wears glasses as Diana. Lois Lane inadvertently interrupts their date; Lois expresses a familiarity with Clark that implies jealousy, but she quickly refocuses on work.
Cyborg replays the recordings to allow the Justice League to understand what happened. They realise the attackers were armored men with gills, which - thanks to Diana's recognising the dagger- helps the team discover the existence of Atlanteans. Batman undergoes detective work to find the origin of the oceanic people and the purpose of the stolen missiles. Along with Superman, Batman is able to find a subject of interest of a scholar on Atlantis, who is Arthur Curry.
To provoke war between the surface and ocean, an evil Atlantean Prince Orm employed Black Manta to undertake a false flag mission, using the stolen missiles to massacre Atlanteans as an excuse to declare war. His mother, Queen Atlanna, however, refuses to enter a war that would ravage both sides; when Orm argues, she reveals she knows about his part in the terrorist attack, and warns him that he will be punished. Before Atlanna can reveal the truth to others, Orm stabs his mother in back and through the heart, killing her; Orm claims her magic royal trident for himself.
The Justice League track down Arthur Curry, who is accompanied by Mera, as they are being attacked by Trench creatures. Some of the League, including Superman, arrive to aid them, eventually driving away the creatures. Mera escorts Arthur and the League to Atlantis, hoping to meet Arthur's estranged mother, Queen Atlanna. Yet they instead meet Orm, now fashioned as the Ocean Master; despite the strategic folly, Orm can't help but gloat about his matricide, relishing his half-brother, Arthur's grief, while also revealing that he already blamed the surface dwellers for the murder; before the heroes can attack, Orm uses the trident to imprison them in separate cocoons, with the taunt that only royal blood can free them.
The heroes are dumped in an abyss, hitting the sea floor of the domain of a tentacled leviathan. Arthur, due to his royal Atlantean blood, is able to break out of his cocoon, then he frees Superman, who fights the leviathan, as Arthur liberates the rest of the League.
While capable of launching a titanic tidal wave to wipe away the surface, Orm stops the wave before it made landfall, and opens the wave to allow his army to launch a ground invasion instead. Eventually, Arthur, Mera, and the League arrive to stop the invasion. When the heroes try to fight Orm, his powerful trident grants him power to deflect any attack and counterattack, with the magic particularly harmful to Superman. Batman learns that Cyborg witnessed Orm's murder confession, which makes both realise that it was recorded.
Cyborg projects a giant video loop of Orm's confession, which demoralises the Atlantean army, who cease their assault; Orm attempts to deny the truth, calling it surface dweller trickery, although none of the soldiers believe him. Arthur sucker-punched Orm, taking the trident from his treacherous half-brother. Arthur proclaims his right to the throne, as well as being a child of both surface and ocean worlds, thus will be the bridge to make peace between them; the Atlanteans kneel to display their loyalty to the new prince. Mera goes to Arthur so they can announce their relationship with a passionate kiss.
The Justice League attend Arthur's coronation in Atlantis, and they wonder if they should invite the new sea king to join the League, considering that Arthur's time may be preoccupied with regal duties. Arthur, however, declares that he is happy to join, since he believes it will help him encourage connections between Atlantis and the world above. From social media, Shazam notes that Arthur had been called "Aquaman," which the king likes and so accepts as his nom de plume.
Meanwhile, Orm is incarcerated in Belle Reve, ranting about how he doesn't belong there as he is a king, but the guards ignore him. Although, he is visited by Lex Luthor, who offers him a business proposition.
Justice League vs. Teen Titans[]
The Justice League battle the Legion of Doom, with Superman opposing Luthor in his warsuit; the Legion are all defeated. Before the authorities arrive, Weather Wizard tries to flee, but steps on a mysterious shadow, which possessed him. Even without his weather wand, the Wizard is able to control the weather; Superman gets hit by an attack, which caused him to bleed, since it was magic. Superman knocks the Wizard over the ocean, to fight away from civilian populace. Robin crashes the Batwing into the Wizard, detonating its payload of explosives, which knocks the Wizard off-kilter, allowing Wonder Woman to use her Lasso of Truth on him, but before any clear intel is exposed, the spirit vanishes, leaving the Wizard unaware of his recent actions.
Clark is on a movie date with Diana, after which she argues the tropes of the movie. Earlier, Clark had felt a presence stalking him, and alone feels it again, until it emerges to possess on behalf of the powerful demon, Trigon. Clark ends the date angrily, later ending up in construction site, bashing his head against the wall due to distress from the Corruptor possessing him. Hearing Atomic Skull nearby, Clark changes to Superman, confronting the villain; while Skull seems confident, he also senses something off about the Man of Steel. Superman beats the Skull viciously, almost to death, if not interrupted by Batman and Wonder Woman. Before they can check on Superman, his appearance shifts to Trigon's, as he announces that the demon lives, then flying away.
Superman is used as a pawn to unearth the giant gate beneath the desert sands near Kahndaq City through which Trigon will enter Earth. The Teen Titans arrive to rescue Raven and stop the gate, with Robin stabbing Superman with kryptonite, which purges the Corruptor; when the kryptonite is removed, the freed Superman liberates the other still possessed Justice League members, by breaking Flash's leg and using Wonder Woman's Lasso on her.
However, Trigon still successfully enters Earth, beginning a slow, cruel trail of destruction. Superman and other freed League members fight Trigon, distracting him so that the Titans are able able to defend Raven so she can enact a spell that will drag Trigon back through the portal and trap him. Thanks to the Justice League, Trigon caused minimal collateral damage - considering his power - and Titan Raven successfully completed a spell that traps Trigon in a gemstone, thus saving the Earth from his demonic threat.
Justice League Dark[]
He first appeared in the Justice League Meeting at the Hall of Justice of the strange outbreak, most of the League's members come to the conclusion that magic must be involved in this.
When he tried to stop Destiny but he makes him and the rest of the league members perceive each other as demonic threats but soon the recovered Zantanna disabled them.
The Death of Superman[]
Intergang, led by Bruno Manheim, kidnap the mayor of Metropolis and his wife, using highly advanced exo-suits and lasers. Superman is able to foil the criminals, breaking their weaponry and armour; he recognises the technology as Apokoliptian. Flash and Cyborg arrive to help, although after the threat had been handled. Cyborg offers to take the alien metal to his father at STAR Labs, while Superman leaves for a prior engagement, leaving Flash to handle the clean up.
Superman meets Lois Lane, escorting her to a lab where he provided the Kryptonian craft that transported him to Earth when he was an infant. Superman reveals records his birth parents, the last El couple, with the intent of being more honest with the people of Earth, so that they can understand his positive intentions. He flies Lois back to the Daily Planet building.
When Lois arrives on the office floor, she bumps into Clark Kent; while talking work for a while, she eventually takes him into a supply room to make out. When Clark reveals he has to cancel their trip, Lois is annoyed until he reveals that it is because his parents are in town. Later, Superman and Wonder Woman are training, after which she compares his new relationship to the one they had ended a while ago, with her implying that he should be honest with Lois, since she doesn't know his superhero identity yet.
Dr. Silas Stone determines that the Intergang technology was Apokoliptian, but had been modified with Earth tech to make it usable and stronger. Realising that only Lex Luthor would have the resources and intellect to achieve such a thing, Superman confronts Luthor in his penthouse; Luthor denies culpability, which frustrates Superman because he can't prove otherwise. Before Superman flies away, he told Luthor that people won't love the human just for hating the Kryptonian. Later, Luthor and his scientists observe a mysterious meteorite that appeared with a trajectory towards Earth.
Clark and Lois attend dinner at his apartment with his parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent. The Kents regale her with details from Clark's childhood, much to their son's embarrassment; while Lois enjoys and appreciates the stories, the fact that she knew none of them made her consider how little she knows about her boyfriend, and she comprehends the wall he kept around him. Clark and Lois part for the night, with the latter being somewhat terse due to their lack of mutual communication.
During a Justice League conference, the Flash's upcoming marriage to Iris is mentioned; Superman asks Flash if she knows his superhero persona, which Flash confirms, noting that he did it early in their relationship, and it was necessary to have a proper connection; Superman also asked if Flash is worried his superhero life will end up endangering Iris, but Flash counters that risk is unavoidable in the world, and he is confident that he can protect her. Superman ponders the information, being unsure if he can bring Lois completely into his world.
The abnormal meteorite destroyed the satellite and ship of the Excalibur astronaut crew, then crashes into the Atlantic Ocean. A group of Atlanteans and Luthor-sent submersible with a team of three scientists inspect the impact zone. A large creature had been within the meteorite, yet now free, it attacks the Atlanteans then the human scientists, before leisurely walking along the sea bed towards the US coast.
Clark invites Lois to a lunch date, which based on his prior skittish behaviour, she believes is a preamble to a break up. Clark mumbles about agreeing that he had been keeping up an emotional wall between them, which Lois accepts that they can still be professional at work, but Clark corrects her, finally with clarity, revealing that he is Superman. Lois bursts into laughter due to not believing him, but then puts the pieces together, realising that Clark Kent is indeed Superman.
The alien creature's path of slaughter had led it to a small town, a few hundred miles from Metropolis, implying it is heading towards the city. Before it can kill again, Hawkman intercepts, attacking it, managing to damage its full-body suit around its left eye, but it overpowers and defeats Hawkman. Green Lantern attacks next, but is similarly brutally beaten. The Flash moves his unconscious allies to safety, while he borrows Hawkman's Nth metal mace to attack the creature. Despite seeming to halt it, the creature is able to perceive the speedster's trajectory, so it punched the Flash, knocking him away and unconscious.
At Clark and Lois' date, while she continues to struggle with the revelation, he gets a Justice League alert, calling him to the alien attack; before Clark departs, he leaves a folded note called his last secret. Lois opens the note that reveals a confession that Clark loves her.
In the small town, Batman, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman are the last League members standing capable of fighting the creature; Wonder Woman gets buried by some rubble, whereas Manhunter is pelted at a gas station, which explodes, the fire being his only weakness leaving him horribly injured. Batman manages to use explosives that tears away more of the creature's suit, revealing its grey skin with bone protrusions at its joints.
The battle reaches Metropolis, with Wonder Woman as the last combatant still capable of fighting; she holds the creature at bay for the longest single-handed, but it eventually overpowers her. When it is about to kill her, Superman knocks it away with his heat vision, and it is swallowed by an exploding tanker. Wonder Woman spurs Superman to not hold back, before she loses consciousness.
The creature engages battle with Superman, with Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson reporting on it; Lois dubs the creature "Doomsday." A prolonged battle ensues, with the fight going to a bridge, which forces Superman to balance combat against Doomsday with saving people in danger from the collateral damage. Superman knocks Doomsday up, reaching above the clouds, but before he can force it into space, it counterattacks, grabbing him then riding him down from the sky, crashing into Metropolis streets. Lois and Jimmy approach the crater to continue their report, but Doomsday emerges first; before it can attack them, it is blasted away by a powerful laser, courtesy of a new warsuit piloted by Lex Luthor.
Luthor throws Doomsday towards the Hall of Justice; before he can stab it, Doomsday's heat vision kicks in again, knocking Luthor back, then tears apart the warsuit; it grabs Luthor then tosses him down the street. Before Luthor is hurt by an impact, Superman catches him and sets him down gently. Luthor is left to angrily rant about how he was meant to be the hero now. Superman rams Doomsday into the Hall, with it pushing back often. The concussive force of their punches is so strong that it shatters the entire building, exposing them to outdoors again.
Doomsday has Superman overwhelmed, stomping on his back and choking him with his cape; Doomsday grows a sharp bone claw from its hand. Before it can kill Superman, it is distracted by a small rock hitting it; another rock hits it, with the thrower being Lois. Doomsday stomps towards Lois, preparing to attack; Lois responds to Superman's last secret by reciprocating that she also loves him. As Doomsday is about the strike, Superman flies with his full strength, his fists colliding with its head so hard that Doomsday's neck twists backwards, killing it. However, before it died, it turned to face Superman, thus the hero impaled his heart with its bone claw.
Lois cradles Superman in her arms, who asks if he saved everyone, which she confirms; he is relieved, explaining that he only wanted to save people, but he amends it by adding he wanted and needed Lois, too, commenting that he was a very lucky man to have met her.
A public funeral is held for Superman, although Jonathan and Martha Kent are only able to attend in the crowd outside of the official attendees area. Luthor delivers a eulogy that reframes Superman's suspicious inspections on him as friendly visits.
Later, Superman's childhood ship autonomously flies out of STAR Labs, and the A.I. that had cared for infant Kal El generates a hard-light hologram that takes Superman's body from his grave, which the ship takes to the Arctic; the ship creates a Fortress of Solitude, holding Superman's body for some purpose.
Reign of the Supermen[]
In the wake of Superman's death, numerous successors attempt to fill the void: Dr John Henry Irons, a scientist that quit LexCorp out of ethical disagreements and is an admirer of Superman trying to honor his memory, as Steel; an emotionless Superman lookalike with goggles and light-based energy attacks, the Eradicator; a Superman clone commissioned by Lex Luthor, who becomes known as Superboy; and finally a half-robot Cyborg Superman, who claims to be the real one resurrected by Kryptonian technology.
Lois Lane writes a disparaging article about the Supermen, especially the cybernetic one, which provokes him to visit her at her home; he attempts to convince her to accept that he is the real Man of Steel, but when Lois tries to interview him, he claims that the process that resurrected him took away a lot of his memories. He again tries to reassure, before flying away; Lois remains sceptical as his supposedly absent memories is too convenient of an excuse for an imposter to not use.
Lois invites Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince to lunch, as to ask her the Justice League's opinion on the Cyborg Superman. Diana explains they don't know yet, however, also carelessly reveals that she used to date Superman, but his feelings for Lois were much stronger than any they had together; although, Lois is momentarily stuck on the reveal that Wonder Woman was her late boyfriend's ex. Diana awkwardly explains that despite her reputation, she struggles with connecting with people, and she has few girl friends; Lois similarly admits to having few girl friends, so they resolve to become friends for each other.
At the prelaunch of the Justice League's new satellite base called the Watchtower, a boom tube opens above, launching several Parademons; while the creatures are defeated, the Justice League had been maneuvered underneath the boom tube, so when it falls to the ground, it transports them into another dimension. As Cyborg Superman protected the US President from Parademons, she acknowledges him as the true heir to the Man of Steel.
With the President's approval, Cyborg Superman is able to recruit dozens of Metropolis citizens to receive the same "gift" that revived him, however, every volunteer seems to become an emotionless cyborg, without any memories or awareness of their own identities.
Due to her doubts, Lois had been investigating every one of the Supermen; she swiftly discovers Dr. Irons' secret and they ally to explore the others. Lois learns Superboy is a clone, exposing the fact to the public, which forces Luthor to admit the boy's origin, although not certain details. Eradicator remains a mystery, and Lois' scepticism about Cyborg Superman is enhanced when she learns about him visiting the grave of Terri Henshaw, one of the deceased astronauts from the Excalibur disaster.
Through research, Lois learns that every dead Excalibur astronaut's body was recovered, except for Terri's husband, Hank Henshaw. While not knowing how, Lois realises that Hank was reborn as the Cyborg Superman.
Meanwhile, Steel flies to the North Pole, following directions that lead to Superman's Kryptonian vessel; while the robots greet him with kindness, the Eradicator awakens from an energy transfer, and begins attacking Steel. Since Lois was using Luthor's computer, with Superboy present, Luthor himself interrupts, but is willing to help, as he hacks into Steel's visor to get visuals. With a closer look at the Eradicator, Lois realises it is the A.I. program that was in charge of infant Kal El's care during the flight through space. Luthor also descrambles a hidden signal that had been periodically beamed to Earth since the Justice League's disappearance, which reveals the mastermind behind Cyborg Superman being Darkseid.
The real Superman emerges from his vessel, ordering the Eradicator to cease his attacks. Steel is shocked by Superman's revival, while Superboy adds to the drama by introducing himself as the hero's son. Steel deduces that Superman hadn't recovered to full strength yet, but Superman notes that he has no choice as any further waiting could be disastrous; the Eradicator also protests, but Superman returns him to his crystal. Superman needs to fly his ship to return to Metropolis, while Steel and Superboy fly alongside him; Superboy ponders if he can stay at Superman's place when the danger is over.
Luthor reveals to Lois that he was able to use his black market connections to obtain a Mother Box, which he will now use to rescue the Justice League. They both drive to Cyborg Superman's location of the Watchtower launch site; while Luthor works to activate the Box, Lois tells two of the cyborg converts to carry her to Cyborg Superman, and as they hadn't been programmed for conquest yet, they comply.
In the control room of the Watchtower, Lois confronts Cyborg Superman, addressing him as his real name of Hank Henshaw; however, he claims that Hank died with his wife and crew, and he is now here to destroy Superman's beloved Metropolis. Lois tries to reason with Henshaw, but he rejects her appeal, as multitudes of the cyborg converts fly to the sky, transforming their arms to join in a gigantic ring to make a boom tube for Darkseid's armada. Henshaw reveals that he realised Lois and Superman were romantically attached because of their prior interaction, thus he chokes her against the wall for further vengeance.
The Watchtower detects Superman's Kryptonian ship, thus alerts Henshaw, revealing that fact to him. Seeing Superman alive emotionally destabilises Henshaw; Darkseid proclaims his excitement over killing Superman himself, but Henshaw rages at his master. Henshaw rips the control probe out of his skull, then deactivates the boom tube, as he craves murdering Superman himself. Darkseid is furious, but left trapped and prevented from invading for the time being. Despite being free from Darkseid's control, Henshaw directs the cyborg army to attack Metropolis.
Before Henshaw can kill Lois, the Kryptonian ship bursts through the Watchtower, pinning Hensaw against the wall. Lois is excited but still uncertain at seeing Superman, so asks him about his final secret, with him confirming his identity by a declaration of love for her. Henshaw breaks through the ship, attacking Superman. Superman tries to appeal to his humanity by pointing out that Terri wouldn't want him to become a monster, but Henshaw's rage makes him counter with an angered reaction about Superman using the name of someone Henshaw perceived he killed.
Luthor is able to use the energy from a crippled cyborg to activate his Mother Box, which returns the Justice League to Earth. The League are baffled by his aid, but realise the threat, so they organise to defend the city from the cyborg army.
Henshaw triggers the Watchtower's launch, wildly gloating about how both weakened Superman and Lois will be dead by the time they reach orbit. Superman continues to struggle against Henshaw, which allows Lois to engage the emergency lock that seals the perforated satellite wall. Henshaw continues to overpower Superman, delivering a tirade about how Terri was afraid of outer space, but he reassured her that Superman would be there to save them if they needed help, however, due to Superman's absence, Henshaw lost everything and his faith in Superman was replaced with hatred.
Superman tries to argue that Doomsday's meteorite and Henshaw's revival as a monstrous cyborg were only the fault of Darkseid, and that it is Darkseid's will he is following by pursuing violence and chaos. However, Henshaw reasons that Darkseid only taught him how to wield his hate as a weapon, and every tragedy that befell him was Superman's fault.
Lois navigates around the zero gravity environment, with Henshaw's heat vision clipping her arm and leg, but she is able to open the shutters, filling the deck with sunlight. Henshaw withholds from killing Lois as Superman has his eyes closed; wanting to kill her in front of him, Henshaw threatens Superman to open his eyes or he'll rip off his eyelids. When Superman's eyes open, he fires his own heat vision, dismembering Henshaw's mechanical left arm, and revealing that the sun had restored more of his powers.
Henshaw is unperturbed, however, as his missing limb is replaced with another metal arm. Henshaw unravels his new arm, striking metallic tendrils at Superman who dodges the attacks. Henshaw exclaims about how Superman can't and won't kill him, which Superman confirms, but adds that he brought a wild card. Superman stabs Kryptonian crystal into Henshaw's forehead; Henshaw finds himself back in his original human body by Terri's grave. Before Henshaw can understand what happened, the Eradicator manifests in the computer data, and grabs Henshaw's head, painfully purging him, until Henshaw dies, with his Cyborg Superman body shedding a tear as he fades away.
With Cyborg Superman defeated, the cyborg converts drop out of the sky or collapse on the street, left harmless yet sadly leaving the human hosts deceased.
Shortly later, Martian Manhunter transforms into Superman so that "Superman" can present a *discovered* Clark Kent to the media, allowing him to keep his secret and reenter his civilian life. Afterwards at a restaurant, Clark and Lois are on another date, where she teases him on his disbelief about Manhunter's impersonation; both happily look at the text from Superboy, who had been adopted by Clark's parents and given the name of Conner Kent. Clark gets interrupted by League call, with Wonder Woman asking him to give Lois her regards, which makes him startled about his worlds colliding. Lois gives her understanding, offer of luck and insistence he return before midnight, allowing Clark to leave to perform his obligations as Superman.
Due to Luthor's pivotal role in rescuing the Justice League, he is permitted to join as a probationary member. Luthor's entrance into the Watchtower's main deck is boastful, thereby further annoys the rest of the League.
Justice League Dark: Apokolips War[]
Superman orchestrates a plan for the Justice League to attack Apokolips to end the threat of Darkseid once and for all. However, Darkseid outwits the heroes on two fronts: one, he always had the ability to spy on the League through Cyborg's Apokoliptan cybernetics; and two, he created a new army out of Parademons combined with Doomsday's DNA, thus forming Paradooms. The League are soundly defeated, while Earth suffered a counterattack of Paradooms that eradicates the majority of remaining superheroes. On Apokolips, the beaten Trinity suffer different cruel punishments, with Wonder Woman being rebuilt as cyborg slave to lead the Furies, Batman is tortured and brainwashed to become Darkseid's strategist for conquering Earth, and Superman is injected with liquid kryptonite that robbed him of his powers; afterwards, Darkseid sent Clark Kent back to Earth as to demoralize the survivors. Clark, however, intends to keep fighting.
The lone survivors of the Teen Titans are Raven and Damian Wayne, but Damian left to reclaim his birthright of the League of Assassins. Fearing the threat of her father, Trigon's possible release, Raven almost commits suicide until Clark prevents her and provides a comforting hug; Clark became her unofficial adoptive father.
Two years later, while Lois Lane heads to recruit the Suicide Squad in Stryker's Island Penitentiary, Clark and an increasingly sickly Raven seek out help from John Constantine - who fled from the initial Apokolips battle - in his hometown of London. Constantine, along with Etrigan the Demon, are drinking all of the alcohol in every pub to pass time and stifle their grief; Clark tries to recruit him, but Constantine punched him in anger for the raid two years ago, and then refuses to join up, which doesn't surprise Raven, who is angered at him leaving Zatanna behind. Parademons notice the commotion so attack them inside the pub; Clark is unable to fight effectively without his powers, Raven is unable to fight due her stamina suffering significant loss from Trigon draining her strength, Etrigan killed one Parademon with a burp, and so Constantine is forced to vanquish the remaining creatures.
Apokolips sends three Reapers, giant machines that extract magma, to three strategic locations around the Earth.
Despite his reluctance, Constantine invites Clark and Raven to join him and Etrigan in his home in the ruins of Big Ben. They request a locator spell for Damian Wayne, which Constantine thinks is pointless but performs the spell anyway, providing the location. Constantine taunted them by saying he would teleport the group, but it had ridiculous parameters, such as over a day of waiting without movement; in frustration, Raven teleported them all to the headquarters of the League of Assassins, although collapsed from exhaustion.
Alarming the Assassins, ninjas begin attacking the perceived intruders, with a disinterested Etrigan fighting off Lady Shiva. When a sword is about to hit Raven, Damian orders his Assassins to stop, as he emerged from the shadows. Raven is pleased to see him, but almost collapses if not for Damian catching her and carrying her to one of the barracks, with the others following. Damian expresses disdain and resentment at Clark for his failed invasion plan, blaming him for the losses, and arguing that the Justice League weren't killers, therefore couldn't be a real army. After Raven recovers a little from her rest, Damian escorts her and Clark to show one of the war's costs; he reveals a padded cell that holds Dick Grayson, seeming to have turned savage. Damian confessed that he took Dick's dead body and tried to resurrect him in a Lazarus Pit, which succeeded but drove Dick insane. Raven is disappointed in Damian, since he once promised to never use the Pits; Damian reveals remorse, yet admitted Dick was his brother so he had to take a chance. While understanding his anger, Clark argues that Damian could break Darkseid's hold on Batman, as Dick's death almost broke it two years ago. Damian agrees to help, noting it is his responsibility to stop his father one way or another; Damian changes from his Assassin attire into his Robin uniform.
Raven teleports the group to Stryker's Island, but the strain is so intense it makes her vomit; Damian lends his shoulder, while the group go to greet Lois. While Clark expected her to be in conversation, instead he witnessed Lois has to fight Harley Quinn in a boxing ring as to earn the right. Harley admits that she's impressed at Lois's skill, with the latter appreciating it and noting that she was an army brat; Harley pulls out electrical brass knuckles, but Lois is able to twist her arm so Harley electroshocks herself. With Harley defeated, she agrees to lend the Suicide Squad to the fight against Darkseid.
The heroes and the Squad sneak into LexCorp Tower, but eventually engage in bloody combat against Lex's henchmen; while suffering losses, the resistance are able to enter LexCorp Tower, and ascend towards the top floor, which has a boom tube they can use to reach Apokolips. Before they enter the top floor, Lex emerged in his warsuit, attacking the group, until hurting Damian which provokes Raven to use her demonic powers to destroy the suit, and is close to killing Lex until Clark asks that she stops, which she does with reluctance. Lex calmly confesses that he was Lois' mole known as Sleeper, and claimed that he had been feigning loyalty to Darkseid to spare his own life, while enabling the resistance to keep fighting. While the team are highly doubtful, Clark and Lois argue that they have no choice but to trust Lex.
Lex shares his arsenal of kryptonite weaponry to finally hurt and kill the Paradooms; while the weapons were originally made to kill Superman, they will be useful now against the Kryptonian genetics of the hybrid creatures. Clark himself donned one of Lex's Injustice League warsuits. To lure the Paradooms away from Apokolips, two teams attack two of the Reapers, while Constantine impels Swamp Thing to attack the third. The remaining group in LexCorp Tower divide into two teams, with one remaining to defend the boom tube, and the rest initiating a sabotage mission to obliterate Apokolips. Clark and Lois lovingly part, with him being nervous about splitting, while she acted brave for them both.
Upon reaching Apokolips, Constantine activates a stealth spell to make them invisible. This, however, is foiled when detected by the Fury Mera, which undoes the illusion, forcing everyone into a fight against all Furies, other survivors and resurrected heroes remade into cyborgs enslaved to Darkseid's will. As the fight unfolds, Wonder Woman kills Etrigan, who dies happy from finally having a worthy battle, which allows Constantine to recover enough to harness the Lasso of Truth to free Wonder Woman from mind-control. Wonder Woman is able to fight the other Furies, allowing the infiltration team to continue their mission.
When they find the generator room, they instead find an imprisoned Flash, forced to endlessly run on a treadmill to generate power that was once created by the generator destroyed in the attack two years ago. They break the machine, freeing Flash; Constantine induces sleep in the speedster to provide him rest he hasn't experienced for two years, but doing so reveals a psychic imprint about the Flashpoint Paradox. Nevertheless, the team search the castle for other options; they find a brainwashed Cyborg, fused to the wall, mindlessly ranting about Darkseid's might. Constantine uses techno-magic to liberate Cyborg, which also frees the Furies.
Darkseid and his brainwashed Batman reveal their presence, which sets the team to alert. Batman sends the Mobius chair to attack few of them, while Damian engages combat with him. Clark tries to hit Darkseid, but the New God effortlessly tears apart the warsuit. When Batman is about to kill Damian, the image of his wounded son reminds him of both his own childhood tragedy and love he has for his family; when Darkseid demands he kill the boy, Batman instead tosses his stolen sword, which impales Darkseid's eye, causing an explosion. However, Darkseid is left unharmed, thus fires his omega beams at Batman, yet the attack is intercepted by Damian, who suffers mortal injuries.
Witnessing Damian's death invokes such intense grief in Raven that Trigon breaks his astral bonds and is close to emerging; she tells Constantine to kill her to stop her demonic father, but instead Constantine accelerates the release. Constantine offers his own body - that of a peerless sorcerer - to Trigon, so that together they could destroy Darkseid; however, Trigon's spirit possesses Clark, purging the liquid kryptonite, thereby restoring his powers, while shaping the body into his own image. Trigon snaps Constantine's neck, then enters a brutal battle with Darkseid.
On Earth, the Paradooms are close to overwhelming the defense team; Lois tries to contact Clark. Batman finds the warsuit's wrist computer, displaying her call; he has Cyborg project it above Trigon. Lois asks for forgiveness for failing to honour their vow to remain together forever, encourages him to remain strong, and expresses her sincere love, before LexCorp Tower's self-destruct activates, which annihilates the surrounding Paradooms, but unfortunately Lois also dies. Clark's emotional response to his wife's death is strong enough that he is able to not only expel Trigon's spirit from his body, but also harness his magic to recreate his uniform to hold the guise of Superman once again.
Superman furiously fights Darkseid, inflicting the greatest damage suffered by the tyrant thus far. Meanwhile, Raven's love for Damian awakens her true powers, which restores her vitality and allows her to resurrect and heal him; Constantine is revived by the soul of Zatanna and the pull of destiny. Batman and Cyborg create a plan that includes using boom tubes to take the Paradooms on Earth back to Apokolips, create an escape for the heroes, and then ultimately trigger a boom tube large enough to swallow the evil planet and all its monsters. With her upgraded powers, Raven joins Constantine in conjuring a body for Trigon, so that the demon can battle Darkseid again as a distraction that would allow the heroes to escape to Earth.
Despite holding the upperhand, Superman gradually decreases to even grounds with Darkseid; when Darkseid has him in his clutches, Trigon's eye blast knocks the New God away. Trigon demands that Superman depart, or else fight him for the right to destroy Darkseid. As Cyborg can't be removed from the wall without death, he stays behind as he waits for the other heroes to escape; when only him, the two dark gods, and Paradoom army are left, Cyborg creates a world-sized boom tube. Darkseid tries to escape, but Trigon happily drags him with him into the void; all of the Paradooms, and then Apokolips itself fall into the dimension of oblivion.
The surviving heroes solemnly wait on the grounds of the ruined Titans Tower. Batman explains that even though destroyed, the Reapers managed to harvest 31% of the Earth's molten core, which means that the orbit's instability is imminent, resulting in billions more dead, and there isn't time to solve it without that level of loss; Superman is in disbelief, as he tries to argue that they are the Justice League, and there has been no challenge too great for them to overcome.
Constantine tells Flash that their only hope is for another Flashpoint to undo all of the horror and destruction, and further death caused by Darkseid. Flash mournfully shares that he promised his late wife, Iris, that he wouldn't do it again. Constantine acknowledges it isn't the best idea, and that a rewrite of reality might mean they make the same mistakes again or even may not exist, and yet it is better to create a clean slate, than risk the inevitable chaos that their damaged world will suffer. Flash acquiesces to the idea.
The Flash runs across the ocean, when he vanishes into the Speed Force, a bright white energy is unleashed, as the Flashpoint once again unfolds to reshape the universe. The heroes disappear in the veil of white energy, with the final three being Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman; as they vanish, they disappear with the hope that the new world will be safe, and their new selves will be both strong and wise enough to face whatever dangers may arise in a fresh reality.
Personality[]
He has a love for battle. Superman isn't exactly humble when it comes to how much power he has and is cocky and smug. However, he's much more humble and calmer by the time he is seen in the sequels for first movie. By JL vs Titans, he's much closer to the Nice Guy he traditionally is, compared to the punch first, ask questions later approach he had in War, and makes a point to compliment the Titans and Starfire in particular on a job well done. Even Throne of Atlantis sees him tell Arthur that he should connect with his heritage, no doubt having in mind his own dead homeworld. He's protective towards anyone he loves, with threats to them angering him real quick.
Experiencing a relationship with Lois causes him to grow a greater appreciation for humanity in general, and his prior battle pride is softened as he finds being human more appealing than showing off that he is the strongest. He begins to fight with more restraint, though he gradually abandons this if the fight is prolonged or the danger to his loved ones is certain.
Despite being quite intelligent, he can be short-sighted and allows emotions to cloud his judgement; this is most disastrously shown in the Apokolips raid to stop Darkseid, which failed as the New God had been spying on them the whole time, thereby had created contingencies for all of their strategies, leading to the deaths, mutilations, or enslavement of everyone on the team, barring Constantine who escaped and Luthor who made a deal. Despite suffering this cruel and horrific loss, Superman remained dedicated to defeating Darkseid and saving his friends; even with his grief, he is able to lift others out of theirs, such as when he prevented Raven's suicide and became her guardian. His old ruthlessness and recklessness in battle is unleashed if a loved one is hurt or dies, and he becomes brutal in the fight, rather than just trying to stop an evil.
After Darkseid's defeat, the Earth had still lost 31% of its molten core to the planet Reapers, as such further cataclysmic destruction and death would happen; even so, Superman tried to instill hope, trying to convince his teammates that there was still a chance to reverse the damage. However, despite his optimism, he accepted the apparent need for another Flashpoint, as it was the only way further death could be prevented, and existing deaths be undone.

Powers and Abilities[]
- Kryptonian Physiology: Being a native of the planet Krypton, Superman's physiology grants him unique physical powers on the planet Earth. These powers are due to the radiation of Earth's yellow sun and the weaker gravity of the planet he now lives upon.
- Solar Energy Absorption: Superman's natural biology enables him to soak up ultraviolet radiation and store it in his body. This makes him similar to that of a solar battery.
- Superhuman Durability: Superman's body is nearly indestructible. He can withstand the most extreme physical punishment, including bullets, explosions, and energy blasts, without sustaining any injury.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Superman's rapid regeneration ability allows him to recover from any injury, including complete regeneration from a single cell. He can resurrect himself if necessary, making him functionally immortal.
- Longevity: Superman does not age and can live indefinitely.
- Self-Sustenance: Superman does not need food, water, or air to survive.
- Contaminant Immunity: Superman is immune to poisons, toxins, and diseases.
- Superhuman Strength: Superman has the ability to lift an incalculable amount of weight over his head with ease. This is due to the fact that his body is denser than an average human, making him able to lift several tons without breaking a sweat.
- Superhuman Speed: Superman can move at super and possibly hyper-sonic speeds. This power also enables him to have reflexes too fast for a human eye to comprehend.
- Superhuman Hearing: Superman's hearing is so great, he can hear anything and everything from distances he's not even presently located. He is able to pick up even the slightest vibrations through physical contact, enabling him to perceive his surroundings as precisely as normal sight.
- Superhuman Vision: Superman's eyes give him a variety of optical-based powers. This ability gives him the power to see in the electromagnetic spectrum, see things from a great distance, see things at the microscopic level, and his most famous, X-ray vision.
- Super-Breath: Superman's respiratory system gives him the ability to intake more air than a human, then expel it with the power of a hurricane. He can also use this same power to freeze objects as well.
- Heat Vision: One of Superman's most powerful abilities is the ability to generate and emit powerful beams of energy from his eyes.
- Flight: A power that has made Superman famous is his ability to defy the laws of gravity. This is of course thanks to his dense molecular structure as well as the gravitational pull of the Earth which is weak by his standards.
Weaknesses[]
- Kryptonite: Though he is virtually indestructible, Superman's most infamous weakness is Kryptonite. This substance hails from his home world and it drains him of his powers. Prolonged exposure will possibly even kill him.
- Liquid Kryptonite: Darkseid was able to alter Kryptonite into a fluid state, then inject it into Superman's body, which wasn't lethal, though took away all of his powers, leaving him with the strength of an average human. It also caused him to age faster than normal.
- Red Sun Radiation: Despite being under a yellow sun for most of his life, the natural sun of the Kryptonian people was in fact a red sun. If Superman is exposed to radiation from a red sun, he has no powers at all so long he is exposed. Upon exposure to a yellow sun, his powers will return.
- Magic: Attacks from a supernatural source can injure him or force him to see hallucinations. He is also susceptible to possession from a strong magical influence.
Trivia[]
- Alan Tudyk was unable to reprise his role as Superman in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Jerry O'Connell.
- Due to the template of the New 52, Superman and Wonder Woman become a couple in Justice League: War. This fan-divisive relationship lasts until they amicably break up off-screen sometime before The Death of Superman in which he has a relationship with his most prominent comic love interest, Lois Lane. Clark reveals his identity as Superman to Lois, but further developments cease due to his death, but after his revival in the next film, they become engaged, and are married shortly afterwards.
