Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words: "With great power comes great responsibility."
Spider-Man has declared that this article is still under construction. |
| “ | Clark Kent: People look to me to save them. Lois Lane: No, people look to you for hope. That's what Superman does. He inspires. You inspire me and the boys every day, and it's not because you can fly or because you're strong. It's because of your heart. |

| “ | I told you before, Luthor. You will never hurt another person. You came after my wife. My family. My town! But all that ends... RIGHT NOW! | „ |
| ~ Superman's heroic breakdown to Lex Luthor, before he finally defeats him. |
| “ | The second time I died... was so much different than the first. It was amazing. The feeling that washed over me, I... I can't begin to describe it. And suddenly, it came to me. What life is all about. Joy. Hope. Forgiveness. Wonder. Friendship. Family. Love. God, she's beautiful. I came to this world alone. And when I left it, I had so much. And it was all because of love. It's the thing that makes life worth living. Do everything you can to find love, to give it, to hold on to it... because life, it goes by so fast. | „ |

Kal-El, also known on Earth as Clark Joseph Kent and his superhero moniker Superman, is one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Lois Lane) of the 2021 TV series Superman & Lois.
He crash-landed on Earth in Smallville, Kansas, where he was found and adopted by Martha and Jonathan Kent. Growing up on Earth, Clark learned the truth of who he really was and became Superman. After meeting Lois Lane, they married and had two children, Jonathan and Jordan. After being fired, his mother's death, Clark returns to Smallville with his family as Jordan's powers kick in.
He was portrayed by Tyler Hoechlin, who also played his Earth-38 counterpart and Derek Hale in Teen Wolf. Lennix James played the character at 4 years old, Thomas Hoeving and Parker Cousineau as a child, Dylan Kingwell and Josh Zaharia as a teenager in season one and Season two respectivel.
History[]
Early Life[]
Kal-El was born on the dying world of Krypton in 1979 to Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, renowned scientists of the house of El. He was recorded as the first natural birth in generations, as most children on Krypton are genetically engineered. When Kal was an infant, his homeworld was dying. In order to save their son, Lara and Jor-El sent him to Earth in a rocket.
He crash-landed in Smallville, Kansas, where he was found by the Kents, Jonathan and Martha. The couple adopted him and named him "Clark Kent." Due to his alien physiology, Clark had special unique abilities that made it challenging for both of his parents. At age four, his powers manifested, but it did not stop him from having a happy childhood. When he was old enough, Clark remembered his mother was always planning Smallville's annual Harvest festival. This taught him about lessons that involved giving back to others.
As a teenager, he began attending Smallville High School, where Clark met his best friends, Pete, and Lana Lang, the latter of whom he would date and Kyle Cushing. His favorite teacher was Lois Hannigan and soon, he and Lana began dating. When he was attending high school, he was also a reporter for the school news paper. In the ninth grade, Clark attempted to join the baseball team; however, Jonathan refused to let Clark try out.
When he and Lana were both dating, Clark, Lana and Pete went to a Soul Asylum concert. However, during the drive home, Pete fell asleep at the wheel, causing their car to go off the side of the road. Lana passed out but Clark managed to pull himself, Pete and Lana out of the car, leaving it unscathed but the car was destroyed.
Losing his adoptive father[]
When Martha was planning the year's Harvest Festival, Jonathan suddenly died of a heart attack without warning. A devastated Clark couldn't stand to stay at Jonathan's funeral and ran off.
Leaving Smallville[]
A year after his father's death, Clark began using his powers to help people. He began running around Smallville as a teenage vigilante despite his mother's protests. He wore a ski-mask to conceal his identity. In one incident, he scared robbers into submitting to returning what they stole by scaring them with his super strength and invulnerability. This led to an argument between himself and his mother. Martha realized it was time for Clark to leave. Before her son left, Martha gave him the crystal that was found in his ship when he crashed.

Powers and abilities[]
Powers[]
- Kryptonian Physiology: Normally, like any Kryptonian, Clark is biologically no stronger than a well-trained human when he is not exposed to yellow-sun radiation. His Kryptonian powers only manifest once his body absorbs energy from a yellow sun, which acts as the true source of his superhuman abilities. Because Clark has lived almost his entire life under a yellow sun, his body has adapted to it far more completely than most Kryptonians. Over time, his powers didn’t just activate—they continued to grow. Through constant use, discipline, and experience, he developed superior strength, control, and efficiency compared to other members of his species. This long-term exposure also caused his physique to naturally become muscular and highly conditioned, comparable to a peak human athlete even without actively flexing his powers. At his prime, Clark is powerful enough to defeat multiple enhanced Kryptonians on his own, firmly establishing him as the most powerful being on Earth and one of the strongest entities in the multiverse. However, after his resurrection using Sam Lane’s human heart, a hidden consequence emerged. The human heart is incompatible with fully sustaining Kryptonian solar energy. Over time, it begins to weaken Clark’s ability to store and utilize that power. John Henry Irons later confirms this deterioration, implying that Clark’s strength will continue to fade—and that eventually, he will no longer be Superman.
- Enhanced mental capacity: Clark possesses a mind that operates far beyond human limits. His brain functions with near-computational precision, allowing him to take in enormous amounts of information at once, instantly organize it by importance, and process it with extreme speed and accuracy. His mental sharpness grants him flawless memory and perfect recall—nothing he learns is forgotten or degraded over time. Any information he encounters can be fully understood, analyzed, and broken down to its underlying mechanics within seconds. Because of this, Clark is capable of absorbing the equivalent of entire lifetimes of knowledge in just days, mastering complex subjects without confusion or overload. He can seamlessly cross-reference information, draw connections between unrelated data, and multitask at a level no human could replicate. His cognition is so adaptable that even when exposed to radically unfamiliar conditions—such as the Inverse World—he was able to quickly comprehend and adjust to its reversed mode of speech and logic.
- Extended longevity: Clark ages much slower than humans.
- Solar energy absorption: Clark has a unique Kryptonian cellular makeup that allows his body to absorb, store, and convert yellow-sun radiation into raw power. This solar energy is the fundamental fuel behind all of his superhuman abilities. The more direct the exposure to sunlight, the faster and more efficiently his cells recharge. Beyond drawing energy straight from the sun, Clark can also extract residual solar energy stored within living plant matter, using it to restore his strength and accelerate healing when needed. Because he has lived under a yellow sun since infancy, his body matured alongside this radiation, enabling him to store vastly greater reserves of solar energy and metabolize it far more efficiently than most other Kryptonians. In extreme circumstances, Clark can even plunge directly into the sun itself. Doing so temporarily floods his cells with an overwhelming surge of solar power, massively amplifying his abilities to extraordinary levels—so great that his energy cannot be forcibly siphoned or drained by external forces.
- Accelerated healing factor: Clark possesses a powerful regenerative healing factor driven by his enhanced Kryptonian metabolism. His body can repair damage on its own at extraordinary speed, allowing most injuries to heal rapidly without medical treatment and without leaving scars or lasting effects. This healing is so efficient that even severe trauma—such as having multiple Kryptonite shards embedded in his chest—can be reversed almost instantly once the source of damage is removed. In that case, Clark fully recovered within seconds after the shards were extracted. However, his regeneration is directly tied to solar energy. After his resurrection with Sam Lane’s human heart, his healing ability became far more dependent on sunlight. During a fight with Alex under red-sun radiation, his regenerative powers were dramatically weakened. Even after leaving the red light, his body struggled to heal completely until natural yellow sunlight returned at sunrise. When Clark later threw Doomsday into the sun and absorbed intense solar radiation at close range, his healing factor was fully restored. Immediately afterward, he was able to crush Kryptonite screws fired by Lex with his bare hands and heal almost instantaneously from the damage—demonstrating that his regeneration had returned to its original peak. Additionally, his metabolism burns energy with extreme efficiency, making him immune to weight gain regardless of calorie intake.
- Contaminant immunity: Clark possesses an extraordinarily resilient immune system that renders him immune to virtually all Earth-based contaminants. No known human illnesses, viruses, diseases, poisons, or toxins are capable of harming or infecting him, making his body effectively self-sanitizing against foreign agents. The sole exception to this immunity is Kryptonite. Exposure to it can induce severe sickness in Clark, weakening him to the point of collapse and even causing physical bruising—effects that no other substance on Earth can replicate. After his resurrection and the replacement of his heart with Sam Lane’s human heart, Clark’s immune system became slightly less absolute. While he remained completely immune to diseases and infections, certain substances—such as alcohol—were finally able to affect him to a limited degree, something that had previously been impossible.
- Super stamina: Clark possesses virtually limitless stamina. He can run, fight, or fly for extended periods without experiencing exhaustion, maintaining peak performance regardless of duration or intensity. Even when injured during combat, his endurance does not meaningfully decline. Pain or physical damage does little to slow him down, allowing him to continue fighting at full effectiveness long after a normal being would collapse. Clark is capable of sustaining battles that last for hours without any loss of strength or speed, and can endure conflicts stretching across days while showing little to no visible fatigue.
- Flight: Clark is able to fly by manipulating his own gravitational field, allowing him to lift himself off the ground and propel his body through the air. By controlling this force, he can generate powerful thrust and move at extreme hypersonic speeds—far faster than he could ever travel on foot. However, after his resurrection and the replacement of his heart with Sam Lane’s human heart, this ability became more physically taxing. Clark now has to carefully regulate his speed while flying. When he pushed himself too hard—such as when rapidly overtaking Jonathan—his heart began beating irregularly, disrupting his control. This cardiac strain forced him out of the air and caused him to crash to the ground.
- Heat vision: Clark can emit powerful beams of red energy from his eyes, commonly known as heat vision. Through precise control, he can finely adjust both the intensity and shape of these beams to suit a wide range of purposes. At lower settings, the heat can be gentle and controlled—enough to warm food or perform delicate, manual tasks. At higher levels, it becomes hot enough to slice cleanly through solid stone or melt reinforced metal with ease. Clark can also focus the beams to trigger explosive impacts or cause them to ricochet off reflective surfaces. By altering the density of the energy, he can shift its effect from pure heat to powerful concussive force, capable of repelling or injuring even highly durable opponents. He can narrow the beams for extreme precision or widen them for broader destructive output.
- Solar flare: Clark can unleash a devastating technique known as a solar flare, in which he releases an enormous burst of the solar energy stored within his body all at once. This discharge is vastly more powerful than his standard heat vision, erupting outward as a massive wave of destructive energy. The downside is severe: expelling that much solar power leaves Clark almost completely drained, temporarily stripping him of most of his abilities until his body can slowly recharge through renewed exposure to sunlight. However, this limitation does not apply when he is supercharged by the sun. In those moments, his cells contain more energy than they can normally hold, allowing him to unleash a solar flare without fully depleting himself.
- Invulnerability: Clark may feel normal to the touch, but his body possesses extraordinary durability that makes him nearly impossible to injure. This extreme resilience is the reason he is known as the “Man of Steel,” as most forms of physical harm and pain simply cannot affect him in any meaningful way. His invulnerability protects him from crushing forces, powerful energy attacks, and extreme temperatures that would instantly destroy ordinary beings. It also allows him to survive hostile environments without protection, including the crushing depths of the ocean and the vacuum of outer space. Because Clark has spent his entire life absorbing energy from a young yellow sun, his durability exceeds that of most other Kryptonians. His body is better adapted to solar radiation and physical stress, giving him a clear edge even among his own kind. This advantage is especially evident when compared to Tal-Rho, who could only approach the sun safely while merged with the Eradicator.
- Self-sustenance: Clark has minimal biological needs compared to normal beings. His body does not rely on food or nutrients to function, using solar energy as its primary source of sustenance. Eating is therefore optional for him and done mainly for enjoyment or social reasons, not survival. Because his strength and physical condition are not dependent on diet or exercise, his body naturally maintains a powerful, peak-level physique regardless of what he eats or whether he trains. Unhealthy food has no negative impact on his performance or appearance. Unlike most Kryptonians, Clark also does not require oxygen. He can function indefinitely without breathing, a trait he retains even when his cells are damaged or weakened.
- Telepathy immunity: Clark possesses a natural resistance to telepathic intrusion. His mind cannot be easily accessed, read, or manipulated by external psychic forces, making him immune to most forms of telepathy. Attempts at mind-reading, mental control, or brainwashing are ineffective against him, as his consciousness is inherently shielded from outside influence.
- Super senses: Clark possesses extraordinarily enhanced senses that allow him to perceive the world at a superhuman level. He can take in an immense range of sensory information from his surroundings, far beyond normal human limits. Crucially, Clark has precise control over this heightened perception. He can filter, isolate, and focus on specific sights, sounds, or details without becoming overwhelmed, allowing him to respond exactly to what matters in any given moment. This sensory mastery directly enhances his physical performance. With superior awareness comes improved dexterity, pinpoint accuracy, and highly efficient movement, enabling him to react, aim, and maneuver with exceptional precision in any situation.
- Electromagnetic spectrum vision: Clark can perceive far beyond normal vision, seeing across the full electromagnetic spectrum. He is able to detect, distinguish, and interpret different forms of energy, including fields, waves, signals, and frequencies that are completely invisible to humans. This expanded sight allows him to perceive electronic transmissions, various types of radiation, ultraviolet light, and even cosmic energies, giving him an advanced awareness of both natural and artificial phenomena. Rather than simply seeing these energies, Clark can analyze and differentiate them in real time. By using this ability strategically, he can also avoid detection by radar systems, satellites, and other monitoring technologies, slipping past electronic surveillance without being tracked.
- Microscopic vision: Clark possesses microscopic vision so advanced that he can perceive objects and structures at scales far smaller than what even powerful microscopes can reveal. His sight can penetrate down to subatomic levels, allowing him to observe the tiniest details with absolute clarity. This extreme visual precision greatly enhances his accuracy, enabling him to target, manipulate, or interact with objects at microscopic scales without error.
- Night vision: Clark can see perfectly in complete darkness, perceiving his surroundings with the same clarity and detail as if it were broad daylight. Low light or total absence of light does not hinder his vision in any way.
- Super Hearing: Clark possesses superhuman hearing so refined that he can detect and isolate sounds from anywhere on the planet, no matter how faint, distant, or obstructed by solid material. His auditory perception allows him to pick up signs of danger across vast distances—such as a robbery occurring overseas or the structural failure of a bridge on the other side of the world. His hearing is precise enough to analyze subtle biological cues, enabling him to tell when someone is lying by changes in their heartbeat. He can also perceive and differentiate the frequencies of radio waves and identify specific individuals solely by the sound of their voice, even pinpointing their exact location. However, after his resurrection and the replacement of his heart with Sam Lane’s human heart, this ability became noticeably diminished. At times, Clark has failed to detect major events, such as a fire in Metropolis that his sons Jonathan and Jordan were able to hear.
- Super olfactory senses: Clark possesses a superhuman sense of smell that allows him to detect and distinguish individual scents with extreme precision, even across great distances. Subtle differences in odor that would be completely imperceptible to humans are instantly recognizable to him. This heightened olfactory ability enables Clark to track individuals by scent alone, identify emotional or physical states—such as detecting nervousness through increased adrenaline—and analyze chemical traces on a person’s body. For example, he can determine if someone has consumed alcohol simply by smelling it on them.
- Telescopic vision: Clark can sharply focus his vision to see across immense distances with perfect clarity. Objects and people miles away appear to him as clearly as if they were right in front of him. Using this ability, Clark can track movement and recognize individuals from far beyond normal visual range, such as spotting Sam Lane driving toward the farm long before he arrived.
- Thermal vision: Clark can see infrared radiation, allowing him to perceive heat signatures emitted by living beings. This enables him to detect bodies based on their warmth rather than visible light. With this ability, Clark can locate people even when they are completely obscured from view, such as when Jonathan and Jordan were buried beneath heavy metal beams in the barn.
- X-ray vision: Clark can focus his vision to see through solid objects, allowing him to look past walls, barriers, and layers of matter as if they were transparent. By adjusting his sight, he can observe what lies beneath the surface without physically interacting with it. However, this ability has a clear limitation: lead blocks his vision completely. Lead and lead-lined materials are opaque to his X-ray vision, preventing him from seeing through them. This weakness has been exploited before, such as when the Stranger used lead-lined walls to hide from Clark and gain a tactical advantage.
- Super speed: Clark possesses extraordinary superhuman speed, allowing him to move at velocities far beyond anything achievable by humans. On foot, he can cross vast distances in moments and react fast enough to catch a speeding bullet with ease. When flying, his speed increases even further. He is capable of traveling fast enough to rival a speedster, as demonstrated when he attempted to intercept Tag Harris mid-flight. His acceleration is so extreme that he can leave Earth’s atmosphere within seconds. This level of speed is consistent and reliable so much so that Lois once noted it takes Clark roughly ten seconds to reach her location anywhere on the planet, regardless of distance.
- Accelerated perception: Clark experiences the world at an accelerated level of perception. When he moves at super speed, everything around him appears to slow down, giving him extraordinary clarity and control even in fractions of a second. This heightened perception allows Clark to act with extreme precision and accuracy during high-speed movement. At the same time, his mind processes information just as fast as his body moves, enabling him to calculate, analyze, and fully understand complex situations in real time.
- Super reflexes: Clark possesses superhuman reflexes that match his incredible speed. He can instantly react to sudden threats or rapidly changing situations, even when facing opponents who move at extreme or superhuman velocities. Importantly, this heightened reaction time is not dependent on him actively using his full Kryptonian speed. Even at rest or moving normally, Clark’s reflexes far surpass those of ordinary humans and most meta-humans, allowing him to respond almost immediately to danger.
- Super strength: To be added.
- Sonic scream: To be added.
- Super breath: To be added.
- Super jumping: To be added.
- Thunderclap: To be added.

Trivia[]
- This version of Superman was meant to be the versions seen on Supergirl. However, the last episode of Season 2, "Waiting for Superman," revealed that this Superman was a doppelganger of Earth-38.
- This makes Clark and Lois the third and fourth protagonists who do not originate from Earth-1, preceded by Supergirl and Black Lightning.
