Sureshot is a supporting protagonist in the Transformers franchise, especially Generation One.

He was voiced by Steve Bulen, who also voiced Strafe.

Biography[]

Cartoon[]

Sureshot was one of the Autobots introduced in the three-part miniseries "The Rebirth". He was among the group led by Kup and Hot Rod on Cybertron. When the Decepticons attacked trying to gain the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber, Sureshot and the others managed to get the Key but were sent spinning off into space, arriving on Nebulos, where they met up with the local resistance.

Sureshot was quickly captured by the Decepticons but rescued by the new Autobot Headmasters. When the Decepticons attacked again, now allied with the Nebulan Hive, they showed they had not only copied the Headmaster technology but also developed Targetmasters. Sureshot and a number of others underwent the same process, with Sureshot being partnered with the Nebulan sharpshooter Spoilsport. They accompanied Optimus Prime back to Cybertron to witness the Decepticons' final defeat.

Comics[]

Sureshot appeared in the Headmasters miniseries as one of the Autobots who accompanied Fortress Maximus to Nebulos to try and retire from the war. Met with distrust by the native Nebulans, Sureshot was one of several Autobots who surrendered their weapons as a gesture of peace. When Scorponok's Decepticons followed them there and captured Fortress Maximus and the other new Autobot Headmasters, Sureshot underwent the Targetmaster process with the aid of Nebulans who supported Fortress Maximus' partner Galen. They first saw battle defending a Nebulan nursery from the Decepticons but withdrew on seeing how much damage the battle was doing.

In the UK-exclusive story "Worlds Apart", Sureshot was captured along with Pointblank and Crosshairs as bait to lure the Autobot Headmasters into a trap. The trap was sprung but Hardhead managed to free the trio who joined them in defeating the Decepticon Targetmasters.

Sureshot made his first appearance in the main Marvel US comic in Issue #39. He and the other Targetmasters launched an attack on the Earth Decepticons' island base to try and rescue Buster Witwicky, only to be beaten back by the islands' defences. After the new arrivals met up with the existing Earth Autobots, Sureshot witnessed a duel between Grimlock and Blaster for leadership.

He wasn't seen again until Issue #70, when he was now among Optimus Prime's crew on the Ark and was knocked down by the creature created by Ratchet being fused with Megatron. He appeared over the next few issues, aiding Kup in co-opting Mindwipe to use his hypnotic powers to force a truce between two rival Decepticon factions and have them agree to an alliance with the Autobots, shortly before all the Earth Transformers were transported to Cybertron to battle Unicron. At the beginning of Issue #76, Sureshot was shown lying deactivated in the aftermath of the battle.
