Susato Mikotoba (Japanese: 御琴羽 寿沙都, Mikotoba Susato) is the deuteragonist of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. She is Ryunosuke Naruhodo's legal assistant throughout the duology and acts as a big sister to Iris Wilson during their stay. When her friend Rei Membami is charged with murder, Susato decides to disguise herself as Ryunosuke's cousin named Ryutaro Naruhodo and defend Rei in court before going back to London to assist Naruhodo with his cases, eventually solving "the Professor Killings" and putting an end to the Reapers Curse that plagued London for a decade. Afterwards, she and Naruhodo would return to Japan where they would start their own law firm in an attempt to fix Japan's broken legal system, starting a chain that would eventually be passed down onto Phoenix Wright.
She was voiced by Kana Hanazawa in the Japanese version and Rina Takasaki in the english localisation.
Personality[]
Unlike many other assistants in the series, Susato is shown to be much more capable and involved with the cases that Naruhodo takes teaching him about new laws and tactics and being an actual judicial assistant rather then a tag along, the biggest example being her teaching him about Summation Examinations, where he cross examines the Jurors to see if their reasons for voting guilty hold up or not. She is also easily caring for others, as she shows sadness whenever people are going through a hard time and she becomes a surrogate big sister towards Iris during her stay in London. She is also shown to be loyal as she was willing to break the law to save her best friend from being declared guilty and she promised to return to London to meet Naruhodo again after she wanted to see her father due to him falling ill.
While Susato comes off as confident to Naruhodo, she is deeply insecure, believing that she isn't competent enough to be a legal assistant to the point where she considers herself a "terribly incompetent legal assistant" and was even going to give up on it all together after not trusting herself enough to be one after tampering with a crime scene, only not going through with it because she was convinced not to by Naruhodo. Her insecurities are further shown when she doubted if she was capable of defending her friend Rei Membami when she was accused of murder to the point where she felt ill, but was able to with her fathers help.
