~ Sushi Cat in The Big Journey, also his only official dialogue in the series

Sushi Cat is the main protagonist of the independent video game series of the same name, and a playable character in the 2017 platformer game, The Big Journey. He is a round and squishy blue cat who enjoys eating sushi.

Appearance[]

Sushi Cat is a round blue tabby cat with dark blue stripes on his body and, in the later games, a light blue patch on the bottom of his body. In most of his games, Sushi Cat has beady eyes, but in The Big Journey, he has wider, white eyes.

Personality[]

Sushi Cat is a cheerful, kind-hearted feline who has a massive appetite for sushi, among other Japanese-based foods. Throughout the series, Sushi Cat is shown to care for his plush wife, treating her as if she were alive and feeling upset whenever she's taken away from him. Sushi Cat is also shown to be willing to help others from the good of his heart, having gone out of his way to rescue the other passengers on a cruise ship when a volcano blows a massive hole into it, as well as to help Mr. Whiskers find Mr. Choo after the latter's mysterious disappearance.

Despite his overall kind demeanor, Sushi Cat is shown to be visibly angered by those that wrong him and others, such as when he notices the Volcano threatening the island's residents, or when his plush wife is stolen by Bacon Dog and the Seagull.

Biography[]

Sushi Cat[]

Sushi Cat is first seen hopping across the sidewalk, until he sees a pink cat plush behind a store window, and immediately falls in love with it. Sushi Cat tries to enter to the store, only to slam into the automated doors. He then comes up with an idea to get in by eating a ton of sushi so that he can get big enough for the doors to open for him.

After getting big enough for the doors to open, Sushi Cat realizes the pink cat plush has left the store. He then notices the plush in the back of a moving bus, and thinks to purchase a ride at the same bus for three yen, only to realize he's one yen short. He then notices a sumo competition offering a prize of one yen, and decides to eat enough sushi to be able to compete.

After winning the sumo competition, Sushi Cat goes to the bus to take a ride, only for the bus driver to reject him over a "no cats" policy, before driving away. Defeated, Sushi Cat moves across town in a straight line, until he enters a carnival and realizes more pink cat plushies are being offered as prizes for the high striker. Excited, Sushi Cat tries to win himself a plush from the high striker, only to completely fail the carnival game. Sushi Cat then gets the idea to win the game by eating enough sushi to make himself heavy enough to win the high striker.

After getting big enough for the strength game, Sushi Cat jumps onto the target area of the hight striker, causing the game's bell to explode, causing a number of pink cat plushies to come flying out of it, much to Sushi Cat's immense love and excitement.

Sushi Cat: The Honeymoon[]

After the events of the first game, Sushi Cat decided to take one of the pink cat plushies he won onto a cruise ship to celebrate their recent marriage. Unfortunately, the boat is suddenly hit with a blast from afar, creating a massive hole in the kitchen that puts the entire ship at risk of sinking as the chefs start to panic. Sushi Cat tries to solve the issue by plugging the ship's funnel, only to fall right through it and out of the hole in the kitchen. Sushi Cat then decides to start eating sushi until his body is big enough to plug the funnel.

After eating enough sushi, Sushi Cat manages to plug the funnel with his body weight, causing the ship to no longer be at risk of sinking, and thus allowing it to float to the island to drop Sushi Cat and his plush wife off. Sushi Cat then happily hops across the beach with his plush wife in hand, only to suddenly trip and splash into the water. Curious, Sushi Cat looks behind himself and sees a much larger, muscular brown cat blocking his path. After running away from the muscular feline, Sushi Cat decides to start eating sushi until he's big enough for the other cat to no longer intimidate him.

After making it past the muscular brown cat, Sushi Cat notices the residents of the island's village panicking as a sentient volcano threatens them with its eruption. Sushi Cat then decides to save everyone from the volcano by eating enough sushi until he's big enough to plug it up.

After getting incredibly big from all the sushi he's eaten, Sushi Cat hops over to the living volcano, looks at it with a face of tranquil contempt, and jumps into its hole to plug it up, thus preventing its eruption. Afterwards, Sushi Cat is able to enjoy his honeymoon as the villagers celebrate him as their savior.

Sushi Cat 2[]

Sushi Cat decides to go shopping at the Tokyo Mall with his plush wife in hand. While Sushi Cat is busy trying to reach the top shelf, a shoplifting Bacon Dog notices his plush wife and steals it right away from him. Sushi Cat realizes this and attempts to chase after Bacon Dog in the elevator, only for door to close before Sushi Cat can get in. Sushi Cat tries to press the buttons to make the elevator return, only to fail due to being too small to reach them. Sushi Cat then decides to start eating sushi until he's big enough to reach the buttons and press them.

After managing to reach the buttons of the elevator, Sushi Cat is able to follow Bacon Dog, who he sees enter the cinema. Sushi Cat tries to follow him, only to be stopped by a ticket cashier pig for not being the recommended size to enter the theater, to which Sushi Cat just looks at him in anger and annoyance.

After eating enough sushi to reach the recommended size for the movie, Sushi Cat is able to rush past the ticket cashier pig, and notices Bacon Dog chewing on his plush wife. Horrified, Sushi Cat tries to enter the theater to retrieve her, only for the doors to not budge. Sushi Cat then gets the idea to start eating sushi until he's big enough to smash through the doors.

After getting big enough, Sushi Cat manages to break through the doors, only to find Bacon Dog had already left when the movie ended. Saddened by his failure to retrieve his plush wife, Sushi Cat dejectedly hops out of the mall and across the fields, before noticing a martial arts training class to his left that is being taught by a koala sensei, and decides to attend it so he can learn martial arts.

After finishing his training and being declared a martial arts master, Sushi Cat suddenly thinks about his missing plush wife, before hopping towards a funfair. Sushi Cat then notices his plush wife being held by Bacon Dog in the park's ferris wheel. When Sushi Cat approaches the ferris wheel to try retrieving his stolen plush wife, the electrical box powering the ride suddenly explodes, much to both Bacon Dog and Sushi Cat's horror. Sushi Cat then decides to start eating sushi until he's as tall as the ferris wheel.

After eating enough sushi and growing to the same size as the ferris wheel, Sushi Cat hops over to the ride, which scares the much smaller Bacon Dog into jumping off the ride, dropping Sushi Cat's plush wife while doing so. After finally managing to retrieve his stolen plush wife, Sushi Cat hugs gives her a massive joyous hug while the other passengers on the ride climb down.

Sushi Cat 2: The Great Purrade[]

Sushi Cat brings his plush wife to the parade, only to end up dropping her while jumping in excitement. Sushi Cat tries looking around for her, before noticing what he believes to be her hanging from the ceiling of a concession stand.

After eating enough sushi to get big enough to reach what he believes is his plush wife, Sushi Cat suddenly realizes it was just a piece of cotton candy. which he eats before looking down in despair and slowly moves forward. He then notices another object he believes to be his plush wife, but is unable to look far ahead to be sure.

After eating enough sushi to get much bigger, Sushi Cat stretches his body to look over towards the pink object resembling his plush wife, and quickly realizes it's just a pink bird balloon. Sushi Cat then deflates in disappointment, before noticing his plush wife seemingly on top of a building, and tries to jump over to it, to no avail.

After eating enough sushi to become as tall as the building, Sushi Cat is able to jump onto it, and rushes to retrieve his plush wife, only to discover it's just an image on a billboard advertising Sushi Cat plushies, much to his confusion. Sushi Cat then looks to his left and sees his plush wife with Bacon Dog on a float, much to his relief. Unfortunately, the float suddenly malfunctions, putting Bacon Dog and the plush wife at risk of crashing. Sushi Cat then decides to start eating sushi until he's big enough to cushion the float's impact and prevent it from moving further.

After eating enough sushi, the now giant Sushi Cat waits in front of the malfunctioning float, until it softly slides into him and stops all movement, both saving Bacon Dog and allowing Sushi Cat to retrieve his plush wife. Sushi Cat and Bacon Dog then celebrate the parade together as the former is still holding onto his beloved plush wife.

Sushi Catapult[]

Sushi Cat is seen hopping across the Sashimi Gardens with his plush wife, before noticing a sign advertising the "Race to the Moon", which offers a lifetime supply of sushi as a grand prize to the winner. Intrigued, Sushi Cat decides to use a catapult to fling himself towards the nearest rocket to compete.

After making it to Akamai Beach, Sushi Cat's adventure is suddenly put to a halt when a devious seagull maliciously swoops down towards him and steals his plush wife. Sushi Cat tries to chase after the seagull, only for the latter to get away.

After making it to Tamaki District in Tokyo City, a now giant Sushi Cat is able to catch up to the seagull in the chase, before jumping onto and crushing him, thus retrieving his plush wife from the feathered thief before giving a warm hug to her. Sushi Cat then notices the Race to the Moon sign right in front of him, and tries to sign up to enter the rocket. Unfortunately, the ticket cashier pig refuses to give him any tickets over a "no cats" policy, much to Sushi Cat's disappointment.

After getting incredibly big, Sushi Cat is able to launch himself all the way to the moon with his catapult, allowing him to reach the moon before the rocket. After Sushi Cat slowly approaches the moon, he suddenly eats it, causing his body to grow even bigger to the point of covering up the entire screen.

The Big Journey[]

While Mr. Whiskers is searching for his missing best friend Mr. Choo, he comes across Sushi Cat, who asks him why he came and if he's looking for something, to which Mr. Whiskers explains that he's looking for Mr. Choo and asks if he's seen him anywhere. Sushi Cat answers that he hasn't seen Mr. Choo, but decides to join Mr. Whiskers to help him find his friend. Afterwards, Sushi Cat becomes a playable character.

Sushi Cat Words[]

After making it back to Tokyo from an airplane trip, Sushi Cat decides to go to a sushi restaurant to start gorging on his favorite food. However, unbeknownst to him, the restaurant he's passing by was recently given a bad review by a famous food critic who happens to be a blue cat like Sushi Cat. One of the mice chefs notices Sushi Cat's resemblance to the esteemed food critic, and they all decide to exploit that fact by inviting Sushi Cat to come to the restaurant and give them a much better review, much to his utter delight.

After the player fully completes the game, it's revealed that they had fed Sushi Cat all of the sushi in Japan. Afterwards, Sushi Cat decides to take a nap.
