Shusie is a supporting character in Paper Mario series. She is a Cheep Cheep residing in Yoshi's Village on Lavalava Island. Her pause menu description states that she "loves romantic stories and cries at the drop of a fin", implying that she is very sensitive and soft-hearted. However, according to the Yoshi children, she is very bossy. Her name is based on the famous Japanese dish.

Paper Mario[]
Mario first meets Sushie in the Yoshis' village on Lavalava Island, where she defends and babysits a group of young Yoshis called the Fearsome 5. She thinks they are up to something dangerous, but she can't prove it before the group run into Jade Jungle to play hide-n-seek. Sushie chased after them but they threw her up into a tree where she remained stuck until Mario uses his hammer to rescue her. She works together with Mario to find all the young Yoshis lost in the jungle and afterwards learns about Mario's quest to save Princess Peach from Bowser. Finding his tale romantic, Sushie agrees to continue helping Mario in rescuing the Star Spirits.
