Suwa Yorishige is one of the deuteragonists of the action and adventure manga and anime series The Elusive Samurai. He is a "God", a priest of the Suwa Shrine, and a member of the Suwa Clan. Alongside Shizuku, another priest of the same shrine, he laid his hand to help Hōjō Tokiyuki avenge his family by defeating Ashikaga Takauji, the murderer and traitor of the Hōjō Clan.
He is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura (who also voiced Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, Andy from Undead Unluck, Hawks from My Hero Academia, Sōsei Akabane from Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, Tatsuya Shiba from Irregular at Magical High School, and Hajime Umemiya from Wind Breaker) in Japanese.
Appearance[]
Suwa is a towering Japanese man who appears in around his early 20s with long black hair. He typically wears a traditional white Japanese robe with wide sleeves and an open front, adorned with green lining inside. His robe is fastened with elaborate red ties at the waist. Over his shoulders drapes an orange scarf, contrasting the predominantly white and red outfit. His lower half features purple hakama pants, which are loose-fitting and gathered at the ankles. His attire complete with white and black wooden sandals. On his head, he wears a tall black headdress with what appears to be a black Gohei.
Personality[]
Suwa exhibits an overly easygoing and mischievous, typically around Hōjō. Regardless of his extremely playful demeanor, he is meticulously strategic and cunning, ensuring everything is in place for their achievement. He significantly supports Hojo despite his initial suspicious mischievous demeanor when Suwa introduces himself to Hōjō following the massacre of his family. Suwa also often claims to be brimming with sacred aura which cannot be enabled by an unusual fixation on deeming Hōjō as his adoptive son. This can also be shown with his strange enjoyment of observing children sleeping. Despite being unconcerned and confident over most situations, Suwa is actually very concerned over Tokiyuki's safety, deeply fearing that his bloodline might end if he loses his life. This led him to uncontrollably spy on Tokiyuki when he and the rest of the Elusive Warriors were heading to Nakayama-sho, dreading that Tokiyuki dies under various circumstances.
