Syrran was a male Vulcan featured on the Star Trek: Enterprise episode The Forge.
Syrran was portrayed by Michael Nouri.
History[]
In 2137 Syrran had been passing through the Vulcan's Forge when he came across a Katric Ark containing the katra of Surak. Syrran took Surak's katra into his own mind. Syrran had a high degree of emotional control, much higher than other Vulcans of the 22nd century, to the point of being a Kolinahr master in fact if not in name.
Seeing how far Vulcan had strayed from Surak's original teachings, Syrran dedicated himself to restoring the Vulcan people to the true path. Syrran founded a movement which came to be known as the Syrranites, who opposed the militaristic direction of V'Las and the Vulcan High Command. Due to his high profile Syrran would use the name Arev when he traveled, which meant "Desert Wind" in Vulcan.
After the bombing of the United Earth Embassy in 2254 the Vulcan High Command framed the Syrranites for the bombing in the hopes Earth would help them wipe out the Syrranites. Captain Jonathan Archer and Commander T'Pol went into the desert to track down the Syrranites, and found Syrran in the deserts of the Vulcan Forge. Syrran identified Archer and T'Pol as the people who had caused the destruction of P'Jem. Asked by Archer if that was a problem, Syrran replied that the Vulcan High Command had desecrated P'Jem by using it to spy on Andorians, not having a problem with the monastery being destroyed.
While journeying across the desert a sandstorm came up. Syrran was fatally injured in the storm. As his last act, Syrran initiated a mind meld with Archer, and transferred Surak's katra into Archer's mind. With Surak's assistance Archer was able to locate the Kir'Shara - which contained all of Surak's original writings. Archer revealed the Kir'Shara to the Vulcan people, at which point support for the Vulcan High Command collapsed. The revelation of the Kir'Shara led the Vulcan people to return to the original teachings of Surak.
