Biography[]
Upon arriving in the town of Singapore, Elizabeth Swann encounters Tai Huang, who warns her of the dangers of singing "Hoist the Colours" alone. When Barbossa approaches, he informs Huang that Sao Feng, Huang's master, has tasked him with protecting Elizabeth from harm. As East India Trading Company (EITC) soldiers arrive, Huang and his men withdraw. Elizabeth and Barbossa then meet Sao Feng at the bathhouse, with Huang accompanying them. Sao Feng gives the navigational charts to Tai Huang and cautions Barbossa about the perils of Davy Jones' Locker. Barbossa responds by explaining the Brethren Court’s plan to rescue Jack Sparrow. As the EITC soldiers close in, Huang and the crew of the Black Pearl escape aboard the Hai Peng, heading toward World's End.
During the journey, Huang explains to Will Turner that the Mao Kun map reveals routes to places beyond the edge of the world. Barbossa emphasizes that entering Davy Jones' Locker is their only hope of retrieving Jack from the dead. When the Hai Peng plunges into the Locker, the crew encounters Jack Sparrow, who is disoriented but soon recognizes them. Tai Huang introduces himself to Jack, assuring him of the crew’s loyalty and explaining their goal. Under Jack’s command, Huang and the crew navigate their escape from the Locker.
The crew eventually reaches a small island where they discover the corpse of the Kraken, slain under Lord Cutler Beckett’s orders to weaken Davy Jones. At this point, Tai Huang and his men betray Jack and Barbossa, taking them hostage as part of a deal between Sao Feng and Turner. From a distance, the Empress is revealed. Following Sao Feng's orders, Barbossa and his crew engage the HMS Endeavour and set sail for Shipwreck Cove.
While aboard the Empress, the ship is attacked by the Flying Dutchman. Tai Huang witnesses Sao Feng’s death and is shocked when Elizabeth Swann is declared the new captain of the Empress. When Davy Jones boards the vessel to determine its captain, Huang is imprisoned alongside Elizabeth and the crew.
After Elizabeth consults the Brethren Court to rally the Pirate Lords and free Calypso, Huang joins the effort to prepare for battle against the EITC. As Calypso is released and conjures a maelstrom, Huang gains newfound respect for Elizabeth’s leadership.
Following the climactic battle, in which Lord Cutler Beckett and the EITC forces are defeated, Huang and his men celebrate their victory alongside the other pirates. Later, some of Huang’s men join the Black Pearl, becoming part of Barbossa’s crew.
