Taiga Saejima is one of the main characters in SEGA's Like a Dragon (Ryū ga Gotoku, formerly known as Yakuza in the west) franchise. He is one of three tritagonists (alongside Makoto Date and Shun Akiyama) of the Yakuza Saga, and a supporting character in the Like a Dragon Saga.
He is a legendary Yakuza who served under the Sasai Family of the Tojo Clan, known for carrying out the infamous Ueno Seiwa Clan Massacre, in which he assassinated 18 members and even nearly the chairman of the clan. After surviving the death penalty, he became known as 18 Counts Saejima.
Following his release from prison, he started a new family of his own and became one of the Tojo Clan's most important figures, earning the nickname the "Tiger of Sasai". He is also the sworn brother of Goro Majima, as well as a close friend of Kazuma Kiryu.

In Japanese, he is voiced by Rikiya Koyama, who's best known for his role as Kyros/Thunder Soldier in the One Piece franchise, William Antonio Zeppeli in JoJo Bizarre Adventure: The Phantom Blood Movie, Yamato in the Naruto series, and Frank West in Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Project x Zone.
In English, he is voiced by Ron Yuan, who's best known for his role as Kuai-Liang/Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind.
Appearance[]
Saejima is regarded as one of the franchise's tallest characters and is powerfully built, with his immense size and brute strength surpassing the likes of Kiryu. In Yakuza 4, he had dark shoulder-length messy hair, but following Yakuza 5, he has a shaved buzz-cut hairstyle that he has kept throughout the franchise, and following Infinite Wealth, he is shown to have a light beard.

Saejima's back is covered in a tattoo of a roaring tiger surrounded by bamboo grass, which symbolizes his headstrong and relentless personality.
