	~ Takutanuva

Takanuva is the major character that appeared in the BIONICLE series. He was an entity who was in reality formed when both Takanuva and Makuta Teridax fell into the pool of Energized Protodermis during the final battle, thus resulting of transforming into the combined being. However, he only makes his appearance near the end of the 2003 storyline.

He is voiced by both Jason Michas and Lee Tockar respectively in the animated show.

History

During the final battle in Makuta Teridax's underground lair of Mangai, Takanuva tried to rip Teridax's Mask of Shadows off of his face, causing the two to fall into a pool of energized protodermis. This caused the two to fuse and emerge as a single being of both light and darkness, Takutanuva.

Takutanuva proceeded to open the gateway to Metru Nui even helped bring the fallen Jaller back to life, but the energy spent on the resurrection made Takutanuva too weak and the gate he was holding fell and crushed him to death. Takanuva was quickly restored back to life from his mask, but Teridax was believed by the world to be dead, though he survived in the form of an Antidermis as he began to proceed with his next plan by influencing the Piraka to go to Voya Nui to retrieve the Kanohi Ignika.

Personality

Being the perfect balance of Light and Shadow, Takutanuva was completely unbiased and did only what was best for the Great Spirit Mata Nui. The Teridax side of him was enlightened by the Mask of Light during this fusion, piercing the lies he had told himself over the centuries. This caused Takutanuva to become overall aligned with will of Mata Nui in order to revive him, As powerful fusion Takutanuva prove to be one of the most balanced beings in all the Matoran universe until his death afterward.

Trivia

• Takutanuva's Mask of Light and Shadow appears differently for each version; in BIONICLE: Mask of Light, it is a half-Avohkii/half-Kraahkan; in BIONICLE: The Game, it appears like the Avohkii; in the comics (and on the set), it has the appearance of the Kraahkan.
• In BIONICLE: Mask of Light, the rust and pitting on Teridax's armor and mask is mended when he becomes part of Takutanuva; this is manifested in the set by Makuta's gunmetal sections being replaced with gleaming silver.
• In the set and comics, Takutanuva carries a staff; in the animated show and game, he doesn't.
• Takanuva's Ussanui is used as part of the combination as the set, but it's not used in the combination in either the game or animated show versions.
