Tank Evans is the main antagonist of Surfs Up and the sole antagonist-turned-supporting protagonist of it's direct-to-video sequel, Surf's Up 2: WaveMania.

He was voiced by Diedrich Bader also voices Fiskerton.

Personality

Tank Evans is arrogant and jealous, but he reforms towards the end of the sequel.

He also likes to cheat until he reformed in the sequel.

He seems to be cowardly as he got scared about his own life surfing during a thunderstorm.

Surf's Up

Tank Evans competed against the famous surfer, Big Z, during a surfing contest on Pen Gu Island. During the surf off, Tank wiped Big Z out. Tired and knowing that he could not compete against Tank, Big Z faked a disappearance. Following this, a surfing contest called "The Big Z Memorial Surf Off" started and was won by Tank nine times.

10 years after Big Z's disappearance, Tank returned to Pen Gu Island to take part in the tenth surf off. Whilst on the island, Tank disrespects Big Z's memorial, much to the disgust and anger of fellow participate and fan of Big Z Cody Maverick, who challenges Tank to a surf off. Tank wins the surf off by wiping out Cody, who is rescued by Pen Gu Island's lifeguard Lani, who takes him to be healed by her uncle Geek (who is actually an older Big Z).

On the day of the surf off, Tank competes against Cody and Chicken Joe. Tank tries to knock Chicken Joe off his board, but is stopped by Cody. Tank and Cody end up in an area of the sea called The Boneyard (which had killed surfers in the past). Tank knocks Cody off his board, but ends up crashing. Lani helps Tank back to shore whilst Big Z comes to Cody's aid.

Afterwards, Tank is disqualified from the surf-off.

Surf's Up 2: WaveMania

Tank returns in the sequel to challenge Cody and the Hang 5 in surfing in the Trenches (a mysterious surfing spot that is considered dangerous). He seems to be more ignorant and cowardly than in the first film as it shows he feared for his own life surfing in the dangerous waters during a thunderstorm. Cody then rushes to rescue him along with J.C., causing Tank to redeem himself by realizing that Cody risked his life to save him and then accepted him as a friend.

Trivia

Tank Evans was sometimes thought to be the secondary antagonist of the first film.
Tank can be argued to be redeemed in the first movie, however, Tank did not reform in the first film but he reformed in the sequel though.

Cody has wanted to be a professionalsurfer ever since a visit from legendary surfer Ezekiel "Big Z" Topanga several years ago. When a talent scout shorebird named Mikey (Mario Cantone) arrives to find entrants for the "Big Z Memorial" surfing contest, Cody jumps at the chance despite the lackluster support from his family. En route to the contest, Cody befriends another entrant, Chicken Joe.

They attempt to take the log back to Geek's house, only to lose control of it and end up on a beach far away from the contest. After observing Geek solemnly reflecting in the shack, he realizes that Geek is actually Z and asks him to teach him how to surf. Reluctantly, Z agrees, but says that Cody has to make his own board first. The attempt doesn't go well, however, as an impatient Cody doesn't listen to Z's advice and makes a crude board that shatters as soon as he tries to enter the water. Frustrated, he storms off, running into Lani, who eventually persuades him to return. That night, a calmer, more patient Cody works on a new board, finishing it by morning, and falls asleep.

Upset that Z just gave up, Cody angrily throws the necklace Z gave him to the sea and leaves, meets up with Joe, and gets back to the contest just as it begins.
