Tanya is the supporting protagonist in Mortal Kombat 1. Unlike the villainous other versions of her. The New Era version never betrayed Edenia instead she became the Leader of Umgadi royal house.
She is voiced by Cherise Boothe.
Biography[]
Chapter 4: Secrets and Lies
She along with Mileena, Rain and Shang Tsung in the lab are making the serum for Mileena she been infected by Tarkat Virus this could cure her disease until interfering by Johnny Cage, Kung Lao and Kenshi believe that working with Shang Tsung, Rain questions how to find them, Tanya takes them down as they see too much. She is fighting Kung Lao and Johnny smacks him with her staff when Kenshi stepped in to stop her before fighting Kenshi seen her as "traitor" royal house telling him they trespass in Outworld question him not schemer and lost the fight.
Chapter 10: Protect And Serve
Tanya, along with Khameleon, spotting Liu Kang and Li Mei ask them to surrender with being unharmed, Li Mei wants to speak to Queen Sindel that her family is in danger message, then General Shao and Shang Tsung plot against her, Tanya thinking fell her lies fighting her and lost.
She is taken by Li Mei and Liu Kang bring her Sindel get upset at Li Mei while she had regret failed Jerrod's death, she tries explaining to her when Tanya around Li Mei neck for seconds break free beat her up. When Milenna step in fighting, this happen Tarkat Virus kick in uncontrol Li Mei no choice to fight her and after she been free use serum on Milenna.
Chapter 11: For the Empire
They witness Shang Tsung real lab Liu Kang explain to them this new timeline he created. After done explain General Shao kick the door along with other find them ready fighting them when Shao use Amulet sucking her along with Geras, Kitana and Mileena trapping inside. Once the traitors taking care of, Liu Kang use the Amulet to free them.
Chapter 12: Queen's Gambit
Tanya joins the Royal House, Liu Kang, Geras, and the former Lin Kuei to storm the Ying Fortress in Earthrealm as her, Kitana, Mileena, and Scorpion take out General Shao's loyal soldiers. The heroes split up, as Tanya and Mileena were about to destroy one of the soul stealers, but were intercepted by Ermac. Tanya tells Mileena to stay behind her, but Mileena refuses, saying that they will fight together. Their initial efforts prove futile, however, as Ermac bombards them with telekinetically-launched chunks of rock and throws them over a wall, causing Tanya heavy rib damage. The Umgadi thinks they may be broken, but asks Mileena to help her up nevertheless so they can face Ermac together. However, Mileena urges her to stay down and recover, declaring that it is her turn to protect Tanya.
Tanya watches as Mileena beats Ermac, inadvertently causing Quan Chi's spell over the construct to break. She is helped up by the princess, and remarks how impressed she is by her fighting skills, claiming that she is skilled enough to have been Umgadi in another life. Much to their surprise, none other than Jerrod becomes Ermac's main host, and has emotional reunion with Mileena. He explains that Ermac was constructed using souls from the Living Forest, which is why he was able to return. Jerrod also questions Tanya's new position as Umgadi and learns about Li Mei's plight, but reveals that his murder was not Li Mei's fault. Before he can explain further, Mileena insists they can discuss it another time, and Jerrod levitates them all so they can regroup with the others.

In The New Era, Tanya wear dreadlocks with silver ornaments, her pupils she still retains her yellow and black color schemes, she now wears a royal clothing due to her become leader of Umgadi.
