Tanzaburo Tojima (東島 丹三郎 Tōjima Tanzaburō) is the main protagonist of manga and anime Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider. He is a middle-aged man whose singular, lifelong ambition is to become a hero in the vein of the classic Kamen Riders.
He was voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi.
History[]
Tojima's destiny was set in his childhood after watching the original Kamen Rider series. Unlike most, he never outgrew the dream of heroism. At the age of 40, his life is a testament to his dedication; he rigorously trains his body in the mountains, believing he must be physically prepared to become a cyborg hero. His methods are extreme, including actively searching for the evil organization SHOCKER, hoping they will kidnap and reconstruct him as a cyborg. This training has given him near-superhuman strength, evidenced by his victory in a life-or-death battle against a bear. Just as financial hardship forces him to sell his cherished Kamen Rider memorabilia and contemplate giving up, he is thrust into a real-world conflict involving a group of criminals calling themselves the "Fake SHOCKER," finally providing him with the stage to become the hero he has always aspired to be.

Personality[]
Tojima is defined by his unyielding passion and single-minded focus. He treats the world of tokusatsu and the concept of heroism with utmost seriousness, often to a fault that borders on the comical. He is fiercely determined and possesses a childlike sincerity regarding his dream. Despite his ordinary, somewhat shabby civilian life, his inner spirit is that of an unwavering champion of justice, dedicated to protecting others even before gaining a true "transformation."
