Tashkent (Russian: Ташкент) was the lead ship of her class of destroyer leaders (officially known as Project 20), built in Italy for the Soviet Navy just before World War II.
She was crippled by Axis bombers on her return voyage to Novorossiysk and was sunk a few days later during an air strike on the harbor there. Her wreck was refloated in 1944, but it was a total constructive total loss and was scrapped after the war.
Her equipments are painted blue and her cape is blue, because she was nicknamed The Blue Cruiser.
- Unusually, Tashkent was painted a blue colour, thus she was nicknamed The Blue Cruiser.
- She was possibly painted sky-blue due to fact that she was named after a Turkic province (Tashkent - Stone city in Turkic) and sky-blue or Turquoise which is a long tradional Turkic color and also used in buildings in Tashkent itself.
- With a top speed of 43.5 knots, Tashkent was one of the fastest destroyers of the war, beating out Shimakaze's 40.9 knots, second only to the French Le Fantasque class' 45 knots.
