Taylor Travis is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Mei) of the 2021 animated television series Pacific Rim: The Black.

The firstborn of Jaeger pilots Ford & Brina Travis, Taylor Travis lived in Australia when it was overrun by Kaiju. He and his younger sister Hayley were left behind in a safe haven by their parents, who intended to travel Australia in search of help. However, Ford & Brina never returned. Five years later, Hayley accidently attracted the attention of a powerful Kaiju by reawakening an unarmed training Jaeger known as Atlas Destroyer. The siblings piloted the Jaeger and were able to fend off the Kaiju, albeit at the cost of the safe haven. Taylor and Hayley subsequently ventured out into the remnants of Australia in the hopes of completing the mission their parents had set out to do.

Travis is voiced by Calum Worthy in the English version and by Yūsuke Kobayashi in the Japanese version. Worthy has also portrayed Lightning Lad in Smallville and Dez Wade in Austin & Ally. Kobayashi has also voiced Subaru Natsuki in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, Senku Ishigami in Dr. Stone, Arthur Boyle in Fire Force, and Arslan in The Heroic Legend of Arslan.

Overview[]

Taylor is a teenaged Jaeger cadet tasked with looking after his little sister Hayley by their parents. After their hidden village, Shadow Basin, is destroyed by Copperhead, Taylor and his sister pilot the decommissioned Jaeger Atlas Destroyer to find out what happened to their parents.

Bio[]

Beginnings[]

Taylor was born to the Jaeger pilots Ford and Brina Travis, and was exposed to the Pan Pacific Defense Corps at a young age. Eventually, he became an official Jaeger cadet, completing his pilot certification. As a cadet, he trained under the A.I. Loa, and gained knowledge of Atlas Destroyer.

Meeting Godzilla and Kong[]

After seeing Godzilla and Kong kill Skar King, Taylor and Hayley helped them daily on their quest to protect Earth from the Kaiju and other Titans attempting to usurp them.

However, after discovering the origin of the Kaiju and how Godzilla and Kong's kind were linked to them, Taylor vowed to destroy them both. Hayley saw the good in the Titans and refused to follow her brother, trying to convince him that they have feeling to, but Taylor shrugged it off and tried to argue with his Jake Pentecost that they should be killed, but Ford declined.

Forming the Atlas Destroyers[]

After Taylor disobeyed orders not to engage Godzilla and severly injuring him, Jake stripped Taylor form his Cadet training, and replaced him with Mei, with Hayley eventually falling in love with her in the process. Enraged, Taylor formed the titan hunters called the Atlas Destroyers, vowing to kill the titans and anyone who stand in their way.
