Team Zym are the main protagonists of the 2018 Netflix animated fantasy series The Dragon Prince.
It consists of the two human princes of Katolis, Ezran and Callum, a Moonshadow elf named Rayla, a grumpy, yet resourceful glow toad named Bait, and later the newly hatched titular dragon prince, Azymondias, who were able to end the conflict between humans, elves, and dragons.
As of now, they are now planning to stop the fallen elf Aaravos from escaping his prison and laying waste upon the entire world.
Biography[]
The team first formed after they discovered the Dragon Prince's egg in the underbelly of his and Callum's castle when Rayla, a Moonshadow elf tried to kill them and redeem her honor. After they had failed to show the egg to the two warring parties, they took on a journey to return the dragon prince's egg to the dragon queen who lives in Xadia to bring the long awaited peace.
During their journey, the team had to learn to trust each other, overcome hunters, and natural disasters, and avoid capture from Dark Mage and Lord Viren and his two pawnful children.
At the end of season 2 and in the middle of season 3 Ezran decided to return home to become king but later turned it down after the other human kingdoms threatened to launch a civil war thanks to Viren's and Aavaroos's plotting. But Bait and Soren, Viren's son rescued him and his loyalists. Later on Ezran and Bait reunite with Callum, Rayla, and Zym at Strom Spire, Zym's home.
The team was later reunited with their allies and fought off Viren's army at the Battle at the Storm Spire. During the chaos, Viren steals away into the Storm Spire and starts draining Zym's powers and essences but Bait and Rayla stop him by pushing him after the Spire. But Rayla falls along with Viren, forcing Callum to drive down and recuse her after successfully performing the mage wing spell (Matans Pulma Varventus).
After the battle, the team and their allies witness the awakening of the Dragon queen who had at long last reunited with her son and much to her surprise witness the unity of Humans and Elves who return her baby thus bringing the peace to Xadia at long last for now. This would not last long because Viren was revived by his daughter Claudia, who used dark magic to do it, and another problem with Team Zym Aavaros's caterpillar sprung itself into a cocoon and started metamorphosing.
While the greater evil is about to threaten the peace, Rayla leaves Callum and searches for Viren, because he has her parents and friends in his bag of coin collections and she also plans to stop Viren from returning. Two years later, Team Zym gets back together and has a new goal, to stop Aaravos from escaping his prison and cause havoc to the world. To do it, they go to Umber Tor to talk to Rex Igneous about where Aaravos was imprisoned, although Team Zym fails to find out about it from Rex as he accuses them of trying to hurt him. After learning that Aaravos' prison is hidden underwater from the Ocean Mage, Akiyu, Team Zym worked with their ally, Villads, to sail them to the prison after Zubeia failed to show up. However, the group is captured by Finnegrin, who wants revenge on the team after Ezran stole a bag of three baby Glow Toads. Fortunately, Soren convinced Finnegrin's bodyguard, Elmer, that he was being mistreated by Finnegrin and stand up to him.
After escaping, the Team takes a rowboat out to sea, Callum and Ezran go underwater by themselves until they are confronted by Claudia. Rayla comes to their rescue by cutting off the dark mage's tentacle, which was later evealed to be her left leg. However, the trio manages to find the pearl containing Aaravos' prison and return to the boat.
