Teddy Paine is the deuteragonist in Venom: The Last Dance. Teddy is a doctor who became interested in extraterrestrial life after the death of her twin brother and the host of the symbiote known as Agony.
She is portrayed as Juno Temple.
Biography[]
When growing up, Teddy and her twin brother, Thaddeus would stargaze, as they pondered about extraterrestrial life; Thaddeus in particular revealed his dream was to make contact with aliens. During a habitual stargazing, a freak lightning storm manifested, forcing the twins to run, hand-in-hand; a lightning bolt struck Teddy, but despite the damage to her left side, the majority of the electric charge flowed into Thaddeus. Her brother died, and while she survived, she suffered severe nerve damage, leaving her left arm paralysed.
Out of obligation to fulfill her late brother's dream, Teddy studied astrophysics and xenobiology until she was able to join the confidential science division of the United States Armed Forces; Payne worked under General Rex Strickland, whom she helped research the symbiotes at Area 55 - a secret underground facility beneath 51 - but knowing of the threat of Knull, Paine learned of the Codex and allied herself with Eddie Brock/Venom to stop the Xenophages.
During the destruction of Area 55 and 51, Paine took a vial of the last of the facility's captured Symbiotes, becoming Agony's host and saving her friend and colleague, Sadie Christmas; once the Symbiote retreated into her body, she realised it had healed her paralysis from the childhood injury, while also repairing the scarred tissue.
Personality[]
Unlike General Rex Strickland, who was paranoid of aliens and became especially antagonistic after his lost men during the hunt for Venom, Teddy seemed willing to trust that there could be good aliens, thus when she asked former detective Mulligan or Toxin about why he's afraid of Knull, she believed the Symbiotes were being honest. Teddy remained optimistic about the Symbiotes, as she encouraged her colleagues to listen to Venom's order to release the Symbiotes to battle the Xenophages.
She was obsessed in obtaining information and thus could be unintentionally dismissive of others, as she didn't consider the few fatalities of Strickland's men as important in comparison to knowledge that could be gained from extraterrestrial contact.
Teddy had a deep sense of loyalty, as she had dedicated her life to following her late brother's dream, which she only had a casual interest in, but pursued the chance to meet aliens on behalf of her brother. Likewise, she opted to risk bonding with an unknown Symbiote to save her friend and coworker, Christmas, from the explosions destroying Area 51 and the Xenophages.

- A viral splinter of Venom remained, which hinted that he may resurrect from his death.
- Lightning profoundly damaged her life, but ironically became a part of her salvation, since Agony had bio-electrical powers.
- Her surname is a homonym with "pain," a synonym of "agony" like its namesake Symbiote.
