Terry has long blonde hair into a ponytail and wears a red and white cap. He is dressed in a sleeveless white shirt and a red vest with a white star on the back and blue jeans with black fingerless gloves and his feet has red and white sneakers.
Terry originates in Capcom’s fighting game Street Fighter. In an interview, Hiroshi Matsumoto mentions the Caucasian man who wore a leather jacket during the opening sequence of Street Fighter I. Despite appearing in the opening, he was not found in the actual game. At the time they had already decided that the main character for Street Fighter I would be a dougi-clad karate fighter, but the devs wanted to include the Caucasian man in the next game if given the opportunity. The mysterious man ended up being the model for Terry.
In Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Terry received a re-design as the devs thought his design was outdated. Nobuyuki Kuroki mentions how many of the staff that worked on The King of Fighters XIV came from the Fatal Fury series, so the team had sentimental feeling's towards Terry and Geese. Eisuke Ogura showed difficulty finalizing Terry's new design and Terry's model was recreated and polished up to four times, along with many retakes by the motion capture team. Due to the hard work and positive feedback by the fans, Kuroki felt satisfied.
On Falcoon's SNK 40th anniversary page he states that both Terry and Mai are his favourite SNK characters. He considered the Mark of the Wolves design to be one of his favorite designs before he began working. He was pleased when he got the opportunity to work on the character's redesign.
In Gamest's 1997 Heroes Collection, Terry was voted as the staff's eighth favorite character. In Neo Geo Freak's 1997 Volume 8 character poll, he was voted as the fifteenth favourite character with a total of 690 votes. 270 votes from the male fans and 420 votes from the female fans. In a 2005 poll made by SNK Playmore USA, he was voted as the number one fan favorite character with a total of 10014 votes. He was voted as the second most favorite character at the time of Garou: Mark of the Wolves with a total of 162 votes, one commenter saying that "Terry's the eternal hero". In the character popularity poll on Neo Geo Freak's website, he was voted as the fourth favorite character with a total of 2,479 votes.
Many years later, the crime lord Geese Howard organized a tournament, dubbed The King of Fighters. Terry, Andy, and Muay Thai Kickboxing champion Joe would enter with the purpose of facing Geese. The battle that followed would eventually see Terry defeating Geese, and for some time, it was thought that Geese perished in the battle. The next year saw Geese's half-brother Wolfgang Krauser take control of The King of Fighters, and bringing the once Southtown only tournament onto the world stage. The finals of this new tournament would again see Terry fighting the sponsor and him ultimately defeating Krauser.
Sometime later it was revealed that Geese had somehow survived his encounter with Terry. The two Bogards and friends learned of Geese's intentions to retrieve the legendary Jin scrolls, Terry once again challenged and defeated him. Afterward, Geese fled. Terry had battled to the end of the tournament, defeating characters such as Yamazaki, until finally facing the Jin brothers. Standing now as the victor, Terry once again was the Champion. However, Geese had escaped with the scrolls. During the next game, Real Bout Fatal Fury, Terry managed to get all the way through the tournament to Geese for one final blow. At the end of the fight, he knocked Geese off the edge of Geese Tower, but grabbed hold of Geese's hand and tried to keep him from falling.
But this was not to be, as Geese knocked Terry's hand away, falling to what is believed to be his permanent death. Sometime either before, or after their final conflict, Terry decides to become the guardian of a boy by the name of Rock Howard, which is Geese's son. Taking him in, he would teach him how to fight, as they traveled together around the world.
The King of Fighters
In The King of Fighters series, SNK used Terry's background story of Fatal Fury 1-2, in that after he had defeated Geese and Krauser, he received an invitation to enter a new team fighting tournament called The King of Fighters '94. Since then, Terry has been in many installments as team captain of Team Fatal Fury. Though the team's roster has changed through the years, Terry has always been present, and is notable as one of the few characters to appear in every King of Fighters game thus far. He also has a former rivalry with Ryo which is mostly exclusive to this series.
His possible death was played on during The King of Fighters '99 where he stayed behind in the collapsing NESTS's base. He didn't contact with any of his friends or loved ones until a year later. In his time of absence, Terry tracked down NESTS's men who were targeting Mary. He decides to help her out in her job by teaming up with her in the 2000 and 2001 tournaments.
He organizes his teams with various members in the following years, being the one to ask Tizoc in 2003 and Duck King into the team for KOF XI. To catch up and to reunite the legendary trio of Southtown, he joins up with his brother and Joe once more in KOF XIII. Before their meeting, he had to endure a long journey back to the city and fell asleep at the station. He calls up Mary to give him a ride to Paopao Cafe, and he cheerfully arrives over 30 minutes late. His tardiness and usual attitude for any tournament upsets Joe, who knows that he and Andy have their own responsibilities besides the tournament. Although Terry doesn't understand why his friend is upset, he has a sparring match with him in Paopao Cafe.
Knowing that his fan, Alice, and Geese will be participating the new tournament, Terry joins to oversee her progress and to keep an eye on Geese.

|~ Terry's flashback|
Terry is first seen on the floatie, unconscious, but is taken in by the others and Athena nurses him back to health. He then tells them about how he made the star map and how his ship is sinking. He then attended a royal ball and a dinner party. Terry sees Athena and Love, and hears that Athena prefers the power of something else, and is confused. The misunderstanding does make Angel see the green and gray smoke cloud. Terry sees it too, and hides under the table with Alice because Krauser and his servants come.
Krauser orders his servants, the Orochi servants, to attack them. After the others transform, they try to defeat his servants, but Elisabeth is captured and turned into Orochi Leona.
After he and the others are stranded, he is revived. She, along with the others, meet the spirits of Lily McGuire and Sulia Gaudeamus. Lily and Sulia tell them that they are going to get the treasure chest and give it to Krauser. After the spirits disappear, Terry and the others complete the two slides, and they find a strange tunnel. Athena secretly pushes the button, and the tunnel's door opens. Terry and the others enter, only to find out a strange brown cavern. They found his wrecked ship, and a treasure chest. Love takes it, only to be captured by the Orochi servants and Krauser.
Athena, after being turned into Engage Mode, orders Love to defeat Orochi Shermie, Andy to defeat Orochi Yashiro, and Terry to defeat Orochi Chris. Terry defeats Orochi Chris with Burn Knuckle. After defeating Krauser and his servants, Athena takes the spirit box, which contains Angelina's and Like Heart's spirits and returns the spirits back to the owners, after restoring the servants and Krauser back to normal.
After deactivating the transformation, Athena's box is upgraded. The next morning, after Lily and Sulia's visit, he is shocked to find out that Angelina and Lily are twins. After the Fatal Fury anime movie, he, along with everyone, is invited to Athena's concert band.
The King of Fighters 3: 3 Girls and a Baby

He enters the presentation class and meets the others and the presentation class professor, Boss Tuxedo. He hears about Big Bad's death and is pleased.
Later, he meets Jenet, who is enraged to hear her friends arguing, to which it made Jenet lose her temper. He takes her in, and he laughs at the poster featuring "Boss Tuxedo is a weiner". He thinks it was Celestial Blue who created "Dr. Hauer is a hot dog".
