Terry Hintz is the first party member that Brad can recruit in LISA: The Painful.
Biography[]
Background[]
After an apocalyptic event known as "The White Flash" killed all women on earth, Terry settled on a tiny village that he called "Land of Hints" in which he lived alone and spent his time writing in his journal and leaving hints all over Olathe. He pretended to have a lot of fans and wrote as such in his hints. He eventually left to find a more enriching life.
LISA: The Painful[]
Terry climbs up a tree while running away from a dog named Cheese Legs and accidently pulls his groin. Brad Armstrong sees this and decides to help. Afterwards he says that Brad seems pretty lonely and decides to accompany him.
Together they find Brad's childhood friend Cheeks Gaywood dead. Brad says that someone close to him is missing and he needs to find that person. Terry then goes along with Brad despite his objections.
They eventually get hit by a truck driven by "The Gents", Brad's childhood bullies. Their leader Chris Columbo gives Brad a choice: Either Terry's life or all of Brad's belongings.
Given To Columbo[]
Columbo lets him join his gang, possibly seeing his potential as a fighter. Terry grows to resent Brad for his decision. After The Gents ambush Brad again, Terry tells him that he's a new man and fights him but gets defeated.
Stayed With Brad[]
Terry says that Brad is a bad omen but doesn't mind because he likes hanging out with him. He rejoins his party and together they continue to look for Buddy.
While resting at a campfire Brad asks Terry if he's wrong about Buddy. Terry is surprised by the question. Brad elaborates that in the past he always hurt the people he tried to protect. Terry then says that he never had any friends and always pushed away the people he liked, except for Brad. He hugs Brad and asks him to promise that he "won't turn into a monster like everyone else".
Terry later realizes that despite Brad's good intentions, he's dooming the future of mankind by being overprotective of Buddy. So when Brad goes alone on a boat to find Buddy, Terry and the rest of the gang follow him in order to stop him. Terry keeps crying and is barely able to attack, but Brad slaughters him along with the rest of the gang anyways.
Appearance[]
Terry is a white man with beady eyes, a large nose and large pink lips. His beard is shaven and he has long black hair with bangs. He wears a yellow cheetah jersey with light blue polka dots and black pants. He has red hint lord sweatbands on his wrists.
Personality[]
Terry is a kind-hearted yet shy and cowardly man suffering from depression. He has always been very lonely but wants to connect with people and be loved. He imagines himself being loved and revered by countless fans.
Trivia[]
- According to the game's developer Austin Jorgensen, he was supposed to be unlikeable/unusable so that the player could have a party member that they could easily sacrifice. However this idea backfired and Terry became a fan-favorite.
- In the game's Kickstarter demo, Terry commits suicide by hanging.
- His favorite food is pizza.
