The Baby Frogs, formerly known as the 22 Psychokinetic Tadpoles, are supporting characters in the Dog Man franchise.
History[]
Dog Man: Fetch-22[]
In Dog Man: Fetch-22, their birth mother is unknown, but when Fair Fairy came she assumed she was her mother. Finally, when the Fair Fairy tried to get her and the other 21 tadpoles to stop calling her "mom", Dog Man accidentally sent a wagon full of all the Supa Brain Dots in town rolling down a hill and into a pond. The Brain Dots vulture then gives the tadpoles minds. The Fair Fairy teams up with them to take over the town as the Supa Brain Dots have also made Molly and the Tadpoles evil as well. Later in the book, A tadpole Molly she meets Cat Kid, who tries to get her to not be evil by befriending her. Molly then agrees to make friends and from then on she becomes good and even joins Cat Kid's Comic Club. The tadpoles’s powers where later gone by an antidote, and thought the rest of the series, they, except Molly, grown into Baby Frogs.
Dog Man: Grime and Punishment[]
In Dog Man Book 9, Flippy the Fish is teaching the 21 frogs and the one tadpole (Molly) about adverbs. One of the frogs named Melvin the Frog (a know-it-all) keeps on answering the questions, until all the frogs start to run away. Flippy is grabbed by Munchy, while the frogs and one tadpole hide in the grass.
Later when Petey the Cat, Li’l Petey and 80-HD came to the pond, Molly, and Li'l Petey decides to get out the Superhero costumes. Petey says that Li'l Petey uses love when everything's well, but when there's danger you can only fight hate with hate. Li'l Petey doesn't know if he's right or wrong, but he decides to find out.
Molly, 80-HD and Li'l Petey all think of what they love. They all agree they love to draw. Molly shows them how to draw a squid on Munchy's butt, and soon Li'l Petey and 80-HD join in. Munchy finds out and feels embarrassed that he has drawings on his butt, dropping Flippy, who calls out the frogs. All the frogs join in drawing the things that they love on Munchy. Soon Munchy is covered with drawings and runs away in embarrassment. Petey decides that "Love got lucky". Suddenly Grampa comes with the cop truck, and Li'l Petey tells Petey that it's his battle to fight.
Petey is hesitant that he can do it. Li'l Petey answers "It's your story, Papa. You can color it any way you want." Grampa throws the truck, and Flippy and Molly fly to catch it, while Big Jim searches for Grampa. Petey exclaims he can't do it, but Li'l Petey says he doesn't have to. Petey tells Grampa that he's done hating him, and he forgives him, Petey starts to walk away, while Grampa takes the helmet off and shouts at Petey to come back. Petey walks Li'l Petey back while Dog Man and the cops are saved by Flippy and Molly with 80-HD, Melvin the Forg and the Baby Forgs behind them.
Cat Kid Comic Club[]
They later appear in the spin off series (Cat Kid Comic Club).
In the first Cat Kid Comic Club book, Li’l Petey and the frogs are in a Cat Kid Comic Club meeting, and Li’l Petey is the President and Molly is the Vice President. Melvin says he’s the senior Vice President, and the frogs decide to make their own silly ranks. Corky says she’s the boss of all of them, and Starla says that he’s fired. Corky cries, but Flippy soon breaks the tension. Li’l Petey asks them to write down what they like most. Melvin writes down what he loves, and Li’l Petey likes Melvin’s approach. Melvin makes a comic a about a toothbrush named Dennis who wants to be a lawyer for Dinosaurs, Naomi criticizes Melvin for not having a story in his comic and calls it dumb. Flippy asks Naomi to apologize or she will have to go to the time-out rock. Naomi says she’s sorry that Melvin’s comic was dumb, and she is put on the time-out rock. The day is over, and Li’l Petey wonders if it will get any worse.
On Day 2, Li’l Petey asks if anyone worked on comics. Some frogs didn’t have any ideas, and other thought their comics were dumb. Starla and Summer hate it, and they decide to quit. Li’l Petey asks if they have any other things they like. Starla likes poetry and Summer likes photography. Li’l Petey says that they can also make comics with those materials. Starla and Summer leave excited, while Li’l Petey and Molly go back to the meeting. Molly scolds the frogs for not making comics and calls them 'fraidy frogs. Lil Petey encourages the frogs if they can’t think of good things, think of dumb things and fail. The frogs agree, and leave to work on their new dumb comics.
After Flippy finishes listening to the baby frogs' stories, he gets angry and starts lecturing about the comic being too immature. Unfortunately, the baby frogs run out of ideas. Raine and Corky get sad because they couldn't finish their comic, then Flippy has a look at their comic. The name was Frankenbarf vs. the bionic barf bunnies from diarrhea land. So he says they couldn't finish their comic because it was immature. Flippy then soon tells everyone that their comics must be wholesome, uplifting and with good values, morals, integrity and upright virtue. The tadpoles get bored and immediately leave. With an empty audience, Flippy tells them that they should have purity, honor and ethics. Then he realizes that the tadpoles have left.
After Nurse Lady talk to Filppy, Flippy apologizes for being rude and making too many rules for them to follow. He is sad that he uses only his taste and judging the comics yesterday. Melvin switches the topic to trying their best and shows Dennis the Toothbrush Who Wanted to Be a Dinosaur Lawyer 2: Cretaceous Courtroom. Melvin makes up lots of dumb facts that almost everyone can say that it's fake. Naomi criticizes Melvin by saying it was her idea anyway and also for copying drawings out of books. Lil Petey and Molly teach the frogs how copying is good and Melvin tattles on her again. Flippy says that Melvin shouldn't make up facts and Melvin claims he tried to look it up but Summer and Starla were using the computer to make their Haiku comic transitioning it to their comic.
Later, 2 frogs are still at a session. Flippy asks why they are still here and they say that they need inspiration for a story and Flippy says that they don't deserve inspiration. Flippy advices them to force themselves to create and the 2 frogs say they're aren't good at writing. Flippy tells them to make a biographical story. The 2 frogs then have an idea to make an autobiographical story about Flippy. Flippy tells them they can't make a story about him. One frog then asks why and the other replies "Because he doesn't drive a car." Flippy then denies this answer. A frog requests Flippy to tell the frog all about his life. Flippy then continues to tell the frogs. After the Comic Previews, Melvin and Naomi argue about the “award winning” comics leaving Filppy lose it and yell at them and then cover his mouth. Melvin the Forg says the moral of the say and he Filppy, Naomi, and the Forgs hug each other.
