Barry Allen The Flash (Justice League The New Frontier)

Bartholomew "Barry" Allen, , also known as The Flash is one of the main protagonists of the 2008 animated superhero film Justice League: The New Frontier. He is a forensic scientist for the Central City Police Department, who was empowered with superhuman speed after being struck by lightning, and became the second superhero to call himself "the Flash".

He was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris.

Biography[]

One night, Barry was struck by lightning, which gave him the powers of superspeed, then he became the second superhero to known as the Flash after the disbandment of the Justice Society of America, despite the public and government's paranoia and distrust of superhero. During his tenure as the Flash, he fought against enemies such as Captain Cold and Gorilla Grodd, and became engaged to his reporter girlfriend Iris, while trying to hide his identity from her.

One night while Iris was in Las Vegas interviewing singer Buddy Blake, Barry stayed at home and watched a boxing match, until he got a phone call from Iris telling about her trip. While still on the phone, he overheard how Captain Cold was trying to rob the casino that Iris was calling from, then quickly donned and raced over to Vegas with his superspeed. As the Flash prepares to stop Cold from escaping by helicopter, he reveals in case the Flash showed up, Cold hid sixth cryogenic bombs around the city, which are set off the explode in 90 seconds. The Flash then races around Vegas and disarms 5 bombs until he realizes that the sixth one was just a bluff and stops Cold and his henchwomen from his escaping. Then an unknown entity possesses Cold and asks the Flash he is different from "lesser beings", before capturing Cold after rewiring his freeze gun.

Afterwards the government sets up a trap to capture him using robotic duplicate of Grodd, but the Flash manages to escape. He appears on TV, where he announces his retirement on the news, and makes a speech about how the government is him like a criminal despite his good intentions, and how America needs people like John Wilson, who was a vigilante called John Henry protecting the black community from white supremacists and recently died, which the news was reporting on before the Flash made his announcement.

When watching a news report on how a living island called the Centre is posing a threat, Barry decides to become the Flash again and tell Iris his secret, but she reveals that she already knew when he heard his voice on the news announcing his retirement, and Iris encourages him to join the other heroes in helping fight against the Centre. Once he arrives to join the fight, the Flash finds some of fellow superheroes at odds with some soldiers, who do not want the superheroes to help them fight the Centre. However, Superman then puts a stop to it, and tells everyone off if they going to protect America or reclaim their freedom they need to stop with the persecution and paranoia and work together, to which government Agent King Faraday agrees with.
