The Handler is the deuteragonist of the video game, Monster Hunter World. She is a Guild Receptionist that accompanies the Hunter on their journies through the New World, assisting them in tracking down monsters and giving them advice.

She is voiced by Makoto Koichi in Japanese and Eden Riegel in English.

Biography[]

On one of the Fifth Fleet's ships, the Handler first encountered the A-List hunter, to whom she was assigned as a companion. Zorah Magdaros interrupted their rendezvous by inadvertently ruffling the fleet, knocking the Handler and the A-lister off their boat and forcing them to carry on to the New World via Wingdrake. The two survived battles with local creatures such Great Jagras and Anjanath after making a violent landing near the Ancient Forest's shoreline and walking to Astera.

Reunited with the rest of the fleet, The Handler started her tasks, which included helping the A-List hunter with administration. She participated in numerous significant tasks pertaining to the Zorah Magdaros mystery and witnessed the Elder Dragon's eventual capture attempt, which was thwarted by Nergigante's steps.

As they continued their investigation, the Handler and the A-lister encountered the Wyverian Hunters, the Third Fleet, and the enigmatic First Wyverians, who provided them with additional knowledge about the New World and the Elder Crossing. They also discovered the Coral Highlands and Rotten Vale. The Commission launched an intercepting mission to drive Zorah Magdaros to sea using every weapon the Commission could conjure, including a Dragonator, after the Handler and the A-lister informed them of the extreme threat of Zorah's upcoming action. Driving Zorah away from its original location was the aim. In the end, the operation was successful and prevented the destruction of the New World.

The Handler stayed in the New World with the A-lister once Magdaros' threat was over, and they were soon assigned to look into a new anomaly: the Elder Dragons were acting strangely, and more powerful creatures were starting to surface all throughout the New World.

After introducing them, the Admiral took the two to the Elder Recess, which he felt had a close relationship to the phenomenon. The Handler accepted the nature of the Recess and then tried everything in her power to help her companion kill Nergigante, the supposed cause of the issue. Despite Nergigante's death, the Elder Dragons continued to act out, therefore the effort was in vain.

The mystery's central element was revealed only after the Mysterious First Fleet Wyverian resurfaced and guided them to an enigmatic location: Xeno'Jiiva, a dragon that had long relied on bioenergy to maintain its growth, waited at the center of the crystal caverns. As he or she defeated Xeno'Jiiva, the Handler was separated from the A-lister.

All those participating were offered the opportunity to retire and return to the Old World once the Guild formally declared their win a success of the Research Commission's efforts. Like many other characters, including her A-list partner, The Handler chose to remain in the New World in order to make further discoveries.

Reports of Deviljho began to surface in the New World after Zorah Magdaros was successfully repelled, alerting the Research Commission. As the A-List Hunter was dispatched to conduct the investigation, several personnel were forbidden from entering the areas.

Unaware of the circumstances, the Handler was collecting edible resources from the Ancient Forest to support her pastime. She was discovered by the A-lister just before an Aptonoth, Great Jagras, and finally the intended Deviljho appeared on the scene. The World Eater attempted to shake the Handler off and kill her, but she clinged for her life on Deviljho's back. The Handler was able to safely flee after the A-lister knocked down the Deviljho. The A-lister later killed or caught the Deviljho, demonstrating to the Commission that the World Eater was there in the New World.
