| ~ The Ice King |
The Ice King is a major character in Fortnite: Battle Royale, serving as the main protagonist of Season 7 and Season 8.
He is the sovereign of The Ice Kingdom, accompanied by his knights in a quest for weapons and entities deemed perilous to the omniverse. However, following a heated dispute with his most loyal ally, The Prisoner, who advocated for the misuse of these items, the Ice King took drastic measures. He encased The Prisoner, along with the other knights and his fortresses, in ice to safeguard the omniverse. Subsequently, he transported his moon to Reality Zero and encased himself in ice, entering an eternal slumber.
History[]
Before Chapter 1[]
Long ago, the Ice King and his valiant companions embarked on a quest to gather powerful artifacts: objects and entities deemed too perilous to remain in existence. However, The Prisoner, the Ice King's most loyal ally, sought to wield these artifacts to reshape realities according to their desires. In response, the Ice King was compelled to encase the Prisoner, his knights, and all that he had amassed within his stronghold in ice. He transported The Ice Moon to Reality Zero, a realm he believed to be secluded and secure.
Pre-Season 7[]
A fragment of The Ice Moon detached during a cosmic storm and fell into the ocean surrounding the island, eventually arriving at the island at the beginning of Season 7. Subsequently, in Season 7, the ice within the dungeon of Polar Peak starts to thaw, posing a risk of allowing The Prisoner to break free.
Season 7[]
In an effort to prevent the Prisoner from instigating turmoil, the Ice King altered a fragment of The Cube, utilizing it to unleash the Ice Storm and call forth the Ice Legion, a battalion of Ice Monsters akin to the Cube Monsters. The Ice Queen appeared to assist the Ice King in this endeavor. Nevertheless, their efforts proved futile, as the Prisoner successfully escaped, taking the Hybrid eggs with him and regaining his powers. Ultimately, the Ice Legion was vanquished.
Season 8[]
The Ice King and the Prisoner persisted in their conflict, and in a bid to overcome the Ice King, the Prisoner unleashed his volcano, resulting in the devastation of Tilted Towers and Retail Row, while also inflicting damage on Polar Peak. This event ultimately triggered the awakening of The Devourer in Season 9. The castle was subsequently transported on the creature's back and was ultimately destroyed during The Final Showdown. Shortly thereafter, the Ice King triumphed over the Prisoner, encasing him in eternal ice and casting him into the sea.
Season 9[]
Following the Devourer's escape and its subsequent threat to Zero Point, coupled with his defeat at the hands of the Mecha Team Leader, the Ice King retreated to the Ice Moon, burdened by a sense of guilt for his perceived failure. In a bid to ensure permanent isolation, he rendered the Ice Moon entirely inhospitable to all forms of existence, whether living or non-living.
Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War[]
In their quest to locate Doctor Doom, Agent Jones, Shuri, Wolverine, The Imagined, and Spider-Man stumble upon the castle of the Ice King. A holographic representation of the Ice King materializes and recounts his tale. Upon concluding his narrative, he commends them for successfully reaching his castle and for the esteemed privilege of being included in his collection, as their ability to endure the frigid temperatures of The Ice Moon renders them "too dangerous to remain at large." Subsequently, the Mecha Team Leader arrives and annihilates the entire castle utilizing the power of The Zero Shard.
Powers and Abilities[]
The Ice King is a formidable entity possessing complete dominion over ice. His strength is sufficient to vanquish and encase both The Prisoner and The Devourer in ice. His ice manipulation abilities are so potent that even Thor and Storm struggle to mitigate the effects of his Ice Storm. Additionally, he has the capability to conjure ice creatures known as the Ice Legion, which can compete with Hybrids in terms of power.
Powers[]
- Ice Manipulation - Power to create and control ice.
- Self Projection - Creates a ghostly copy of himself that can mimic his actions. It can also be used to talk when asleep.
- Flight
- Ice Beam - Fires a beam of ice that can freeze anything.
- Ice Legion - Summons an army of icy Monsters.
- Ice Storm - This phenomenon generates a tempest capable of freezing entire worlds in a brief period. On the Ice Moon, the Ice Storm possesses such immense strength that even the combined efforts of Thor and Storm struggle to lessen its impact, while the Ice King retains the ability to render it even more perilous.
- Cosmic Awareness - The Ice King possesses a level of awareness regarding events even during his slumber. He is capable of sending a thought projection to communicate while asleep, as demonstrated in his interaction with Jones and his team. Upon awakening, he quickly realized that The Prisoner had roused and made his escape.
- Omniversal Access - The Ice King is aware of The Omniverse and The Zero Point. He can travel his Ice Moon anywhere in the Omniverse.
Trivia[]
- The Ice King appears to draw inspiration from the legend of King Arthur. He convened a round table alongside his knights. The Infinity Blade was sealed in a manner reminiscent of The Sword in The Stone from the Arthurian tales. In Creative mode, the sealed Infinity Blade is referred to as Sword In The Stone.
- The Ice King may have obtained the Infinity Blade from the very reality of the Infinity Blade game. Within the Infinity Blade Saga, it is detailed that the Infinity Blade is a luminous sword with the power to slay immortals by targeting their souls directly. This could clarify the Ice King's actions in acquiring and securing it, similar to other artifacts in his possession.
- The Ice King could be classified as a Deathless entity from the reality of the Infinity Blade game. Alongside wielding the Infinity Blade, he exhibits an exceptionally prolonged lifespan and does not require sustenance in the form of food or drink for survival, akin to the Deathless. However, the unique power of ice manipulation is not characteristic of the Deathless, suggesting that he may represent a more evolved iteration of the Deathless or an entirely different being.
