|~ King of Red Lions|
The King of Red Lions (real name King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule) is the deuteragonist of the video game The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. He is the former King of Hyrule who upon Ganondorf's return took the form of a talking boat to help Link on his quest to rescue his younger sister Aryll from the Helmaroc King while also seeking him out as a worthy hero to stop Ganondorf.
The Wind Waker
The King of Red Lions first appears when Link was tossed across the Great Sea by the Helmaroc King. He brings Link to Windfall Island where he explains what the hero must do to save his sister Aryll. The King of Red Lions assists Link by letting him sail the boat to find a Goddess Pearl on three different islands in order to obtain the Master Sword.
After Link and Tetra rescue Aryll and other kidnapped girls from Forsaken Fortress, The King of Red Lions takes them to Hyrule Castle where he reveals that his true identity is Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule; king of the legendary land of Hyrule. He also reveals that Tetra is actually Princess Zelda and the evil king Ganondorf has been searching for her so can acquire the Triforce of Wisdom. In order to prevent this, King Daphnes tells Link they must find all pieces to the Triforce of Courage and re-energise the Master Sword while Zelda remained hidden within Hyrule Castle.
King Daphnes would continue to help Link on his adventure as the King of Red Lions until he reappears in his true form during Link's confrontation with Ganondorf atop Ganon's Tower. He placed his hand on the newly reassembled Triforce and wished for Ganondorf and Hyrule to drown beneath the Great Sea so Link and Zelda can have a future free from their conflict.
