The Last Son of Alcatraz (John Feggo Jr/Kirk Alyn) is the central character of the alternate history analog "superhorror" series THE MONUMENT MYTHOS: THE NIXONVERSE. Being a creation of GOD, The Last Son arrived as a superhero, attempting to minimize casualties and bring an end to wars, even if it went against the American government's wishes. Tragically, he was doomed to become a more monstrous being like his brethren.

History[]

Origin[]

Kirk Alyn that would grow up to become the Last Son was said to have been born “much taller” than an ordinary human, but as he believed himself to be human, he took on an ordinary size. According to the story told in THE D-DAY KNIGHT RETURNS, the boy lived with a neglectful family and bullying schoolmates. Everyday would he clean his father's shop prior to going to school alone. He would use this time on the road to school to muse in his role in the universe, believing in a need and want to protect people, but that he first needed to "win."

During one of these drives, while distracted with his daydreams, he crashed with another car. While the Last Son was not injured, the other driver, James Dean was impaled between his seat and the wheel. With his dying breath, the man told The Last Son that he had finally "won, little bastard." After this event, the boy had a dream he was being chased off a cliff by a car, only to jump, and he made himself believe he could fly before he hit the water, and he began to fly. He manages to "carry" this ability into waking reality.

However, as revealed in NIXON IS GOD, The Last Son was among those, along with The D-Day Knight and the Lunarian Queen, created by Richard Nixon, as extensions of himself to test Earth, but he knew that each would go mad in their own way, and that The Last Son would become The Crescent King.

The Nixonverse[]

The Last Son of Alcatraz, in the titular episode, arrived in the Nixonverse and would go on to use his great power to interfere in wartime. While on some occasions he was on America's side, protecting them, he was not loyal to any one country, and would fight against the USA if he felt their actions were unjustified. The astronaut Ed Dwight discussed these contractions between The Last Son's actions, and mused on his belief that the Last Son would one day conquer them all. The Last Son made a fortress for himself in Dark Alaska as his base.

As revealed in THE MISSING EYE OF JESUS CHRIST, after intervening in the Korean War, the Last Son returned to his Alaskan fortress, but was attacked by the U.S, who used multiple nuclear missiles against him. This devastated Alaska, and while the Last Son survived, he lost one of his eyes, and was captured. Eventually Apollo 12 recovered the eye of a Lunarian, which was implanted in place of the Last Son's missing eye. This transformed him into a twisted copy of Jesus Christ who would serve American interests.

At the end of the Vietnam War, as seen in SEA OF THE LAST SON, The Last Son broke through his brainwashing, and was horrified by the destruction he had wrought as "The Lord". He fled to Dark Alaska, vowing to be peaceful. Ironically, like Christ he became a carpenter, and took on the form of his childhood home off Dark Alaska's coast as an apology for his actions. This would lead to the cover story of "The House in the Ocean". During his self-imposed exile, The Last Son was visited by a Lunarian mothership, who began communicating with them. He revealed he no longer considered himself The Last Son, considering himself a "vessel for hate and destruction". The Lunarians revealed that they considered him a candidate for their prophecy of a great Lunarian King, but The Last Son rejected them. Despite his pleas to be left alone, the Lunarians forcefully took him anyway. The Last Son was transformed once more, into the monstrous Crescent King.

Future[]

As The Crescent King, he uses his abilities to destroy the English language for the Lunarians. During his interrogation by Ed Dwight, Nixon mentioned that once The Last Son's transformation into the Lunarian king is complete, he would quickly kill him as he represented a threat not only to him but to the entire universe as well. He enacts the murder of The King by fictionalizing the entire universe into becoming a comic book written by MISTER MANTICORE and illustrated by Ed Dwight, and altering history to become like real life history, destroying any trace of the King's existence.

Trivia[]

  • The Last Son is a very obvious allusion to Superman, as seen from the similarity of his title to "The Last Son of Krypton", to his appearance, and his own Fortress of Solitude.
    • This even comes down to using the famous introductory opening from The Adventures of Superman radio show.
  • For some time, The Last Son’s precise identity was somewhat ambiguous. Some initially suggested that he was President Dean, or a version of Richard Nixon due to some images of him resembling a young Nixon. Others believed that he is an anthropomorphic version of Alcatraz Island from the Deanverse.
    • It was eventually revealed that The Last Son, as well as the D-Day Knight and the Lunarian Queen were creations by Nixon, which serve as extensions of himself. This explains why the Last Son's childhood resembles that of the real life Nixon.
    • His actual identity is Kirk Alyn, the actor of Superman during the late 40s.
  • In his childhood daydreams, while musing on helping others, The Last Son pictures a woman with short curly hair, represented with a red outline and the planet Saturn around Her. Her identity is unknown at this point.
