The Princess is a recurring protagonist in the Steel Wool era of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, serving as the titular main protagonist of the Princess Quest minigames. She is a video game character that takes the form of a yellow princess who traverses throughout various areas of her game, all while fighting against the Mimic and his minions.
Appearance[]
The Princess is an 8-bit video game sprite of a yellow-colored woman wearing a crown, a frilly dress and slippers. She later carries a golden broadsword named the "Sword of Light".
History[]
Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted[]
The Princess first appears in the Princess Quest minigame in the game's mobile port, where she walks around a castle, lighting torches and evading goopy rabbit-like monsters. Eventually, she finds a key from a glitched chest, allowing her to open a glitched door to find the Mimic in the form of a dark blob, before the game abruptly ends.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach[]
Throughout Freddy Fazbear's Mega PizzaPlex, Gregory can play through a trilogy of Princess Quest minigames on arcade cabinets. Whilst the first minigame is simply a repeat of the minigame from Help Wanted, the second minigame involves the Princess receiving the Sword of Light from the Old Man, allowing her to kill the monsters hunting her. She traverses an icy dungeon, solving puzzles with the help of her shadow counterpart. Eventually, she reaches the area where she started in the first game, and enters a glitched door to find herself in a security office reminiscent to that of the first Five Nights at Freddy's game.
In the third and final game, the Princess finds herself in an 8-bit replica of the main hub area of Help Wanted. After collecting a number of items related to that game, she is able to enter the main stage, where she finds a massive metal door similar to the one at the end of Help Wanted. Upon opening and entering it, the game fades to black as a scream is heard. Completing this game achieves the Best Ending, in which Vanny is freed from Glitchtrap's brainwashing and leaves the PizzaPlex with Gregory and Glamrock Freddy.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2[]
In Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2, a fourth entry to the cryptic arcade game is introduced. The game can be found in a back room alongside an AR Jammer preventing the player from accessing the real world where the hard levels are until disabled, a replacement to the original Help Wanted's Blacklight Mode, which can be accessed by using a Faz-Wrench provided by Mystic Hippo, who implores the player to "use the key to confront the darkness".

Trivia[]
- The sprite for the Princess was labelled "Cassidy" in the files of Security Breach. As it shares its name with the ghost possessing said animatronic, this implies that she is actually Golden Freddy. This makes sense given she is depicted in many shades of yellow
- This is supported in Help Wanted 2 where The Old Man is Called OMC in his subtitles (short for Old Man Consequences), with that combined with The Princesses original file name being Cassidy, providing more evidence they are both one and the same.
- But it may be scrapped since file name is changed.
- It can be implied that the Princess is Vanessa's mind or free will trapped by Glitchtrap
