Thorn is a major character of DreamWorks’ 47th full-length animated feature film The Wild Robot. He is a savage grizzly bear who initially attacked Roz at the sight of her. Later, he befriended her when she saved him from the snowstorm, and also helped her to fight Vontra and the RECOs.
He is voiced by Mark Hamill, who is also well-known for playing numerous different versions of the iconic villain the Joker, and also voiced Corey Anders in Jeannie, Skeletor in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, Skips in Regular Show, and Luke Skywalker in Star Wars franchise.
Personality[]
Thorn is a savage grizzly bear, and like the other predators, he also has the tendency to chase other animals and eat them. He is extremely savage and short-tempered. However, he was capable of showing normal emotions, as shown in the end of the film.
Biography[]
Roz's robotic parts were stolen by the raccoons, and she collected all of them except her transponder, with which a raccoon ran off. Roz chased the raccoon to a cave, where the raccoon initially hid, but suddenly escaped leaving Roz's transponder behind. When Roz went to collect it, she encountered Thorn, who attacked her savagely and chased her. At one point, while trying to dodge an attack from Thor, Roz sudden fall of a cliff and caused the death of a family of goose, with Brightbill as the only survivor.
Roz was again chased by Thorn while he was hunting for fish and managed to get one, only to be stolen by Roz so she could feed Brightbill.
Later, when a snowstorm occurred, Roz saves all the animals from the forest and brings them to the shelter, including Thorn. When Fink managed to stop the fight between the animals, he introduced them to Roz and all the troubles they have given her while she was trying to raise Brightbill. After Roz said that sometimes to survive, they must become more than they were programmed to be, Thorn agreed that she was right, and will not eat anyone for the time being, before going to sleep.
When Vontra and the RECOs attacked the forest, Thorn rescues Roz and they regroup. Thorn helps Roz to bring down the RECOs using his brute strength and prey-hunting skill. He is also joined to stop the forest wildfire caused by Vontra.
Later, Roz decides to leave the island to keep all the widlife safe, despite Thorn saying that they will keep fighting more if they needed. When Fink asks what will happen to him and Brightbill when Roz is gone, Thorn responds that Fink can tell him if he wants. Later, Roz repairs their shelter destroyed by Vontra, and leaves for Universal Dynamics. Thorn jokingly tells Fink that he will be chasing him tomorrow.
