The Three Billy Goats Gruff are the titular main characters of the Norwegian fairy tale of the same name. They are three male goats who search for grass every spring.
Story
Three male goats are on a hunt for searching for grass in the meadows on every spring. They include three types: young, father, and grandfather. The first goat started trespassing a troll's bridge. He convinces the goat that he will eat him up for trespassing the way. He convinces him that he's going to the other side for a feast. The troll allowed him. The second goat was also allowed to cross the bridge after listening to the same way the first one did. The third goat was not allowed to cross the bridge. The troll attempts to eat him, but the third one was able to knock him into the river. All three goats were able to start eating their grass.
Heroic roles
The third goat has a heroic role of facing his enemy the troll, convincing him he's stronger than the troll is. He is able to knock out his enemy into the river.

The player meets a talking goat in the fifth stage of the video game adoption of Shrek 2. He convinces him to cross the bridge until he is kidnapped by a troll. The player must defeat the troll to rescue the captive. The captive thanked the player for rescuing him.

The tale is told in one episode where the kids portray the goats. Barney narrates the story of how three goats go on a search for grass.
