Tijana is the deuteragonist of After Darkness, a short story of The Dragon Prince. She is a human soldier from Katolis, who helped Osato and Karim in their attempt to reclaim Lux Aurea.
History[]
After the death of Queen Khessa and the corruption of Lux Aurea, Tijana partook in the attempt to reclaim Lux Aurea. During their battle to get to Lux Aurea, Tijana saved Karim by throwing him away from a corrupted banther who was about to attack him. After Karim got back to his senses, Tijana asked if he was okay and jokingly said that she didn't want to break the crown of the Sunfire Prince.
However, that joke, as well as her smile during the serious situation they were in, caused Karim to become angered at her and tried to attack Tijana before Osato calmed him down. Later, after Osato and Karim became horrified when they saw that the corruption of the Sunforge corrupted several of their friends, Tijana stopped Osato from approaching them, saying that they were gone, and that they need to survive.
Understanding that they would be unable to reclaim Lux Aurea, Osato left Lux Aurea with Karim and Tijana, and after they got out of the city gates, Tijana saw that Osato was bleeding. It's then revealed that he got infected by the corruption of the Sunforge, and begged Tijana to cut his arm to stop the infection, which she did.
However, cutting his arm did nothing to stop his infection, and Osato quickly turned into a Sunfire monster. What was once Osato then threw Tijana's sword from her hands and tried to kill her, but Karim was able to blind him, which gave Tijana enough time to stab Osato in the chest, killing him.
Tijana then started mourning her captain's death, and when she tried to speak about how good he was as a captain, Karim lashed out at her and insulted her for being a human. This in turn angered Tijana to the point that it seemed she was going to fight Karim, but she instead started sobbing and left.

- Tijana has the meaning of the "silent" or "stands of peace" in Serbian.
- According to After Darkness' author Eugene Ramos, Tijana was named after the Serbian volleyball superstar Tijana Boskovic.
