Tim Denson or better known as Criminal, is the main protagonist of the indie horror game series, 123 Slaughter Me Street. Tim Denson was the creator of the Foggle Friends and meant well; he was soon forced into doing villainous things after he summoned Nightmare. Upon Tim learning of this he was disgusted by his actions and began his quest for redemption and go on a quest to avenge the death of his daughter.
Appearance[]
He is a Caucasian man with black hair, an undershirt, black pants, and small nearly visible stubble later on in the cutscene he is shown in. In 123 Slaughter Me Street Retro he has short brown hair, wears an undershirt and a pair of jeans, and a coat. In the YT channel, Tim has the same clothing, but with different shirts, while also having longer hair and a thicker beard. He has faint facial hair and a medium sized orange nose. He is commonly seen with a tired expression.
Background[]
123 Slaughter Me Street[]
At the game's original release Tim was only mentioned directly by the Reporter not only the creator of the puppets that chase the player on the floors and through a report where it was believed that Tim also resided in the apartment complex on 123 Suttermill Street where the player finds themselves at. His name also appeared in the opening cutscene on the apartment under "Denson Studios". Later it was revealed that Tim was the Criminal, meaning while escaping the police he fell through the roof of the apartment complex and is the character the player plays as during the events of the game.
123 Slaughter Me Street 2[]
While Tim is never directly seen via any actual gameplay, Tim can be seen within some of the cutscenes in the game. First Tim appears within the opening intro to the game. Later Tim is described as having happily made puppets as Tim wanted to make his own puppet show. However, Tim's business was failing and not a lot of people were Interested in what Tim was making, this would result in Tim becoming extremely depressed and nearly giving up on his dream. That was until he stumbled across a book, Tim had never seen the book before and upon reading it saw it was full of curses. One of them caught his eye though, it mentioned that if he becomes the servant to a demon named Nightmare he could have anything he wanted. Tim of course didn't believe this; he realized that this was all he could do at the moment, after all it wouldn't have hurt to try.
Tim believing it had done nothing went back to his room where he was making puppets. There one of them spoke to him (the Puppet that did happened to be Nightmare), Tim was at disbelieve at first, however, before he could say anything Tim's daughter had walked in the room. Nightmare possessed Tim and then forced Tim to take a crowbar and beat his daughter to death with it. Tim was in utter sadness after doing what he did, however, before he could grief unluckily for Tim some police were nearby and happened to have heard Tim's daughter screaming and went to investigate the matter. This would result in Tim fleeing the scene and going to an abandoned building where his creations had followed him to.
Retro Series[]
Tim is once again the playable character, though his name is never mentioned directly. Only serving as the "protagonist" players control through the re enactments of the first game. In both games Tim can also be customizable and is the first time Tim is seen in gameplay.
Slaughter Me Street: 1999[]
In Slaughter Me Street: 1999 much more is learned about Tim. While the gameplay is largely similar to the second game in the series. The difference being that there are files the player can collect to know more about Tim and his past.
The House files[]
From Files found in the house, Tim's journal was started as a suggestion from his doctor to help reduce some of the stress Tim has been dealing with. Not knowing what to write at first Tim simply describes the state of the apartment he and his daughter lives in and his hopes of a show he's pitching to take off. In the second entry Tim finished one of the costumes for the show, Walter the Wyvern. He noted that the legs are a little short but it wouldn't matter if things go their way. In the third entry, Tim is shown to be upset that his pitch was rejected by presumably a higher up at Happy Sun Studios, complaining about how they don't know how much he sacrificed, how hard he worked, and he desperately needed this show to succeed. After this entry, Tim finds a book with strange markings outside of his apartment with a note slid underneath on of the covers saying "Make your dreams come true". On the last entry found in this level, Tim got a call back saying that the higher up changed his mind and the studio will produce the show. It's implied that Tim used the book in order to make his dream come true, soon declaring they'll be out of the apartments promising bigger and better things ahead.
The Forest Files[]
Sometime after the show got picked up, Tim began having strange dreams involving the demons, first seeing a pair of glowing yellow eyes in the window from his bed. Said creature looked like it was trying to speak to him, but Tim couldn't understand what it was saying. By the dream's end a large blue goat-like entity and a lanky pink bird monster broke into his room. This experience ends up giving Tim the idea for two characters on the show. He continues having dreams of the yellow-eyed creature for weeks that feel more like "nightmares" than dreams. This has made sleep difficult, but it wasn't going to stop Tim as He and Happy Sun Studios were almost finished with the first episode of his show, excited for people to see the results of his hard work.
The Street Files[]
The strange dreams continued after this. One instance had yellow-eyed demon appear in Tim's room directly in front of him. Tim described this entity's appearance as a large, red bat-like creature covered in black marking and grimy wet horns, but unlike previous nights this creature didn't speak. It merely hovered there for what he felt like were hours. Tim woke up exhausted afterwards as if he never slept at all. He wonders if his doctor would know what the dreams he's been having meant if anything, before attempting to rationalize them as stress related, with their appearance being the way they are due to his puppetry work. Regaurdless, Tim ends up getting another idea for a character in the same manner as his previous encounters with these strange entities, except this time, this character was explicitly made as a mockery of the creature that has been tormenting him. A grumpy, annoying, insignificant hand puppet named Gomez. However, this lack of sleep would end up effecting Tim on set, causing him to black out constantly. One moment he'd be watching the actors, and the next he'd be in his trailer staring at the wall. He also begins struggling to remember the events that has happened during this period due to how tired he feels. The next entry sees him complain that a nanny quit on him due to feeling unsafe in the House, brushing it off as paranoia and stating he doesn't have time to look after his daughter. He needed to finish the show.
The Studio Files[]
Eventually, filming of the Foggle Friends show concluded, with Tim feeling more relieved than excited. Having barely remembered half of the show's production, he just wanted to go home and rest. The next entry has Tim entirely succumbing to paranoia, saying he's being watched no matter what he does or where he goes. He ordered a Storm Shelter to be built in the backyard of the house so that he can hide as he thinks something is coming for him.
The Inferno Files[]
The first entry found in this area has Tim's writing "scrambled". Based on the text, it could be inferred that the demons found him and are trying to possess him due to Tim saying "They're all around me" and "They're inside me". Afterwards is contradicting sentences shifting to polar ends of cant's, the last few sentences state that Tim is no longer himself and that "They" are all that remains. The last entry simply states "It wasn't worth it. I'm sorry".
Investigator Files[]
The Investigator's logs mention Tim consistently due to the case revolving around his Daughter's safety and Tim being a prime suspect. The Investigator traces Tim's steps from the House through the bunker to the Forest, then heading to the Street to check the Suttermill apartment building, and finding the trail lead to a fire escape which led him to the Studio where he comes across a dead end as the people working at the Studio hasn't seen Tim for over a week and having no further leads that haven't been searched. The Investigator also finds items presumably related to Tim such as the Summoning Tome in the Apartments that has his name written in it a few times and gains more information about Tim overtime.
