Timothy "Tim" Lockwood is a major character in the Cloudy with a Chance Of Meatballs franchise.
He is a sardine fisherman who believes his son should carry on his work, but it takes a while for him to believe in Flint and help him save the town from disaster. He is also the husband of late Fran Lockwood (who died before the events of the first film) and the father of Flint Lockwood.
He was voiced by the late James Caan, who also played Walter Hobbs from Elf, while in the Japanese dub for the movie, he was voiced by Shirō Saitō. In the television series, he was voiced by Seán Cullen.
Personality[]
Tim Lockwood is rather blunt, down-to-earth, solemn, a bit pessimistic and unsure, but he is still caring and well-meaning. As shown almost throughout the film that he didn't support his son, Flint Lockwood's inventions, unlike his wife. He loves his son deeply but was not as encouraging as his wife was about his inventing dream so he started making him work at his Tackle shop because his inventing didn't seem to work. He also got easily annoyed by his son's wacky, hyperactive tendencies and had a phobia for technology. His generally emotionless nature is most likely because of his wife's death. However, near the end, he becomes more supportive and courageous, he tries to help Flint save the day, despite his fear of technology and encourages him to not give up. After this, he eventually grows close to his son after finally opening up to him about his emotions.

“ | (The Thought Translator is placed on Tim) I’m proud of you, Flint. I’m amazed that someone as ordinary as me could be the father of someone as extraordinary as you. You’re talented, you’re a total original and your lab is breathtaking. Your mom, she always knew you were going to be special and if she were alive today, she’d tell us both, “I told you so.” Now, look, when I take this thing off and you hear me make a fishing metaphor, just know that fishing metaphor means... (The Thought Translator deactivates as Tim's about to speak.) I love my son. |

Trivia[]
- Originally, Tim was going to be a nameless extra in the movie who owned the tackle shop and had no relations to Flint. After the head of studio, Amy Pascal criticized the first draft of the movie by claiming it lacked an anchoring relationship on it's story, Lord and Miller took the model and assets of the then nameless extra and elevated him to main character status by making him Flint's father.
- Some fans take disliking on Tim Lockwood due to being disgusted by sardines (while believing people in swallow falls are better off eating sardines, which is not always true), seeing his face as a Stranger or Weirdo with his Mustache and Eyebrows, and his lack of support and interest of eating healthy food.
- He is 49 years old.
- Tim's eyes only appear briefly in one scene.
