~ Tonio Trussardi |
Antonio "Tonio" Trussardi is a supporting character of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable and its spin-off, Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe. He's an italian chef who owns a newly-established restaurant in Morioh, named Tratoria Trussardi. It's later on discovered that he's actually a stand user who wields the stand known as Pearl Jam.
Although Josuke, initially suspects his intentions, Tonio is revealed to be merely a kindhearted man who wants to use his stand and cooking abilities to help people in need, making him one of the only well-meaning stand users faced by the characters.
He's voiced by Tokuyoshi Kawashima in the anime and by Daisuke Matsubara in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle. In the Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe TV Drama, he's portrayed by Alfredo Chiarenza.
Appearance[]
Tonio is a man of average to above-average height and medium build. He keeps short, light, neat hair; and he often wears a genial expression.
Personality[]
Tonio has a charismatic and courteous personality – unless someone dares to de-sanitize his kitchen, in which case he turns vicious. However, such viciousness is usually short-lived, and he typically reverts to normal before anyone gets hurt.
His ambition is to serve his customers tasty and especially healthy delicacies.
Powers[]
Pearl Jam[]
Tonio's Stand, Pearl Jam is a colony stand that he awakened through years of sheer cooking expertise. They appear as small bodies that look like a cross between a tomato and a pearl onion, with arms and a face. Tonio incorporates his stand on his dishes, making them invisible to the human eye, even to stand users.
- Curative Cooking: By applying Pearl Jam into the food he prepares, Tonio's dishes gain healing properties that act on those who injest it. The stand is able to cure any ailment that the client has, from big to small. Although the healing process is usually shown to be rather painful and disturbing as it makes the target's immune system go into overdrive, it is only for a brief moment and it ultimately leads to them feeling better than before. The stand appears to have some limitations as it could not cure Okuyasu's father from his deformity, meaning that Tonio's stand cannot act on more supernatural corrputions like DIO's vampiric flesh buds.
Trivia[]
- In the light novel Purple Haze Feedback it is revealed that Tonio's birth name is Antonio Volpe and that he came from a rich bureaucratic family in Italy, being the older brother of the Passione gangster Massimo Volpe. After deciding to pursue a career in cooking, Tonio was disowned by his father and moved to Japan to open his restaurant. It is unknown whether or not this is actually canon to the series, as the novel was not written by Hirohiko Araki.
