Toshitsugu Kudo (In Japanese: 駆く藤どう, Kudō Toshitsugu) is a major character in the My Hero Academia franchise.

He was a resistance leader that opposed the infamous villain, All For One, and the successor of All For One's younger brother, Yoichi Shigaraki, becoming the second user of the One For All quirk. Before dying, he passed his quirk to his second-in-command, Bruce, creating a new legacy of One For All users who would oppose All For One.

As of now, he, alongside his fellow users, posthumously supports its ninth and final user, Izuku Midoriya, aiding him in his fight against All For One and Tomura Shigaraki.

He is voiced by Daisuke Ono (who also voiced Jotaro Kujo in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Erwin Smith in Attack on Titan, and Nobuyuki Sanada in Samurai Warriors) in Japanese and by Ben Balmaceda in English.

Appearance[]

Kudo is a young man having a noticeable X-scar on his far. He had short spiky orange hair. He wore a green vest over a black shirt. He also wore noticeably large gauntlets on his arm.

Personality[]

Kudo was the a battle-harden and determined leader of a rebel group that sought to bring down All For One during his early days, but his attitude towards Midoriya, especially hearing his desire to try and save Tomura, make it clear he's more pragmatic than the other predecessors, as he was far more willing to kill Tomura and believed Izuku's ideals to be ridiculous and as a result, is dismissive of him and would not help him. Yoichi has to outright remind him he was willing to go out on a limb to save people too despite the seemingly little chance of making a difference.

Later on, when the other users worry about Izuku relentlessly pushing forward, Kudo is the only one who disagrees, remarking that Izuku has chosen the right path. However, he too agrees that the ninth user needs help. While he did initially opposed Izuku's desire to save Tomura, seeing it as a naïve ideology caused by Izuku's more peaceful life, after observing the boy's memories, Kudo realizes that Izuku is driven by the belief that good can be found in anyone's heart, and reveals that he wishes to have faith in that belief as well. Seeing this, he apologized to Izuku and chose to sacrifice himself to stop Tomura.

Biography[]

Kudo was a determined and battle-hardened resistance leader that fought against All For One. After rescuing All For One's younger brother, Yoichi Shigaraki, he was granted the ability of One For All, becoming its second user. He was later killed by All For One, but not before giving the One For All quirk to his second-in-command, Bruce.

Like all the One For All users, Kudo served as an arch-enemy to All For One. However unlike most of the users, Kudo was stated to be All For One's most hated foe, even more so than All Might, to the point of wiping out his entire bloodline and was even noticeably crying with rage as he killed Kudo. This was mostly likely because of Kudo rescuing his younger brother and ensuring he didn't get his hand on the One For All quirk.

A century later, he, alongside his fellow One For All users, became communicated with its ninth user, Izuku Midoriya, through his awakened vestige self. Through this, he would support Izuku in his fight against All For One, as well as aiding him in helping Tomura Shigaraki, even if Kudo displays cynical beliefs about it.
