Tramp is a clever, street-smart dog who likes to live by his own rules. He spends a lot of time in New England, where he likes to hang out and eat at various restaurants. One day, while he's there, he hears Jock and Trusty trying to explain what a baby is to Lady. Tramp shares his own thoughts on the subject, but his comments aren’t very kind. Jock and Trusty get upset and tell him to leave. Later, Tramp is seen eating from a bowl at a railroad man’s place. He thennotices Lady, whom he calls "Pidge," being chased by three mean street dogs. Without thinking twice, he jumps in to save her and fights off the dogs. Lady tells him she has a muzzle on, so Tramp tries to help her removeit. He takes her to the local zoo and tricks a beaver into taking off the muzzle by promising it will help with moving logs. That night, Tramp takes Lady out for a fun evening. He tells her he visits differenthouses for food and uses a new name at each place. They go to a small Italian restaurantwhere Tony, the owner, serves them spaghetti and meatballs. While there, Tramp and Lady start to feel a romantic connection. After the meal, Tramp brings Lady home, but on the way back, she gets caught by the dogcatcher.
