Trigger is the unnamed main protagonist of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
Appearance[]
Not much is known about Trigger's appearance. He can be seen in the cockpit of his aircraft, where he wears a white pilot helmet, an oxygen mask and a green flight suit. He is most recognized by his emblem depicting an orange wolf holding a revolver in it's jaws, with a red ribbon bearing his nickname.
When serving time in Spare Squadron, his planes have 3 strikes of white paint (known as "sin-lines" to the 444th pilots) on the tail-fins in order to symbolize his alleged involvement with former Osean President Vincent Harling's death. After gaining recognition by the LRSSG, he incorporated the "three strikes" into his plane's tail-fin designs, although changing it to a bird's talon leaving claw marks behind.
Biography[]
IUN service[]
At the beginning of the Lighthouse War, Trigger originally served in Fort Grays-based Mage Squadron under a Usean military coalition known as the IUN. After partaking in a few missions against Erusea's second conquest of the continent of Usea, he was involved in a mission where he had to rescue the former Osean president, Vincent Harling, while he was trying to escape from the International Space Elevator before it completely fell into Erusean hands. In the process, the aircraft carrying Harling was shot down, killing him, and all of the witnesses assumed that it was Trigger's fault as he had fired a missile around the same time as the aircraft was destroyed. Trigger was then judged guilty by an IUN court martial and reassigned to the Osean 444th Air Base in Zapland.
Transfer to the Air Force Base 444 Squadron[]
At the 444th Air Base, Trigger was placed into a penal unit named Spare Squadron, along with several other convicts who were already sentenced there. Under the command of AWACS Bandog, he was forced to partake in many near-suicidal missions. However, his flying skills were far better than any of the convicts from Spare Squadron, which resulted in Spare Squadron being officially recognized as part of the Osean Defense Forces.
Transfer to the LRSSG[]
Shortly after serving time at the 444th Air Base, Trigger and Count were transferred to the Long Range Strategic Strike Group of the OADF in New Arrows Air Base. There, Trigger would continue to serve until the end of the Lighthouse War. In the process, Trigger assisted in destroying one of the two Arsenal Birds stolen by Erusea at the beginning of the war, defeating Erusea's top pilot, Mihaly A. Shilage, who was working with the Erusean Air and Space Administration to conduct research to improve the AI capabilities of the drones that the Erusean radicals were operating.
Ending the Lighthouse War[]
In the final days of the war, Trigger destroyed the last Arsenal Bird, retaking the International Space Elevator with the help of the OADF and Erusean conservative forces who joined up to fight the radicals in their government, and eventually stopped a pair of rogue drones that were preparing to upload Mihaly and Trigger's flight data to any new drones that the Erusean factories were manufacturing.
Post-Lighthouse War[]
On June 30, 2020, the Osean Federation organized a ceremony commemorating the 25-year anniversary of the end of the Belkan War and invited multiple foreign nations to participate, with the venue for the event being the Redmill Air Force Base. Trigger's original F-22A Raptor aircraft was showcased in a formation, alongside other air units of the participating foreign nations. While Trigger himself didn't pilot his aircraft, he was present at the base to witness the ceremony.
