~ Tsukasa's final words to Senku before being frozen

Tsukasa Shishio is a major character and former primary antagonist in the manga and anime series Dr. Stone. Initially introduced as a seemingly benevolent and strong-willed young man, Tsukasa quickly becomes one of the primary antagonists in the series due to his extreme beliefs and actions in the post-apocalyptic world.

Tsukasa, like the rest of humanity, was petrified and later revived by Senku Ishigami. Upon awakening, Tsukasa aimed to establish a new world by reviving only the strongest and morally upright individuals. To achieve this vision, he sought to eliminate Senku, who aimed to revive all of humanity. Tsukasa implemented a strategy of shattering the statues of those he considered incompatible with his vision for the new world.

He is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura (who also voiced Reinhard van Astrea in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, Hawks in My Hero Academia, Basara Toujou in Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha: The Testament of Sister New Devil, Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Gray Fullbuster in Fairy Tail, Mumen Rider in One Punch Man, Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Renji Yomo in Tokyo Ghoul, Dwarf Shaman in Goblin Slayer, Guren Ichinose in Seraph of the End, and Sairaorg Bael in the High School DxD franchise, by Yuka Terasaki as a child, and by Ian Sinclair and by Apphia Yu as a child in English.

Biography[]

Past[]

Little is known about Tsukasa's life before the petrification event. He is introduced as a highly skilled martial artist and a student who was petrified along with the rest of humanity. Upon awakening, Tsukasa immediately adopts his philosophy of reviving only the young and virtuous, believing that doing so will prevent the return of the corrupt society that existed before the petrification.

New World[]

After being revived by Senku and Taiju to help fight off wild tigers, Tsukasa quickly defeats them. Senku, using nitric acid, then revives Yuzuriha, Taiju's petrified lover. Tsukasa is intrigued by the new world but starts smashing statues of people he deems bad. This sparks a conflict as Senku views it as murder, while Tsukasa believes it's an opportunity to create a better world. Tsukasa obtains nitric acid, confronts Senku, and takes Yuzuriha hostage, intending to kill Senku. He offers a painless death but calls Senku a friend. After knocking Senku out, Tsukasa survives an explosive attack, acquires nitric acid, and departs.

Equipped with nitric acid, Tsukasa used it to selectively revive people who aligned with his vision, forming what he called the Empire of Might. Simultaneously, he destroyed statues representing individuals he didn't want in his new world. Tsukasa assumed the role of emperor in his new empire. Taiju and Yuzuriha joined his ranks, but Tsukasa remained suspicious of their intentions, believing Senku might still be alive. He continued to revive individuals to strengthen his empire, including his right-hand [[w:c:villains:Hyoga (Dr. Stone)|Hyoga], and others like [[w:c:villains:Homura Momiji|Homura], to build a formidable military force. Additionally, Tsukasa erected a memorial grave for Senku, whom he believed he had killed.

The Stone Wars[]

Tsukasa discovers that Gen, one of the people he revived, has betrayed him and learned from Hyoga that Senku is alive. He encounters Chrome, brought to his lair by Ukyo, and confronts him about his plans. Tsukasa clarifies that he doesn't aim to eliminate all scientific knowledge but rather wants to control and reshape the old world. Although he initially contemplates killing Chrome for opposing him, he ultimately spares him and locks him up. Chrome manages to escape, and Tsukasa believes one of his men, Yo, died during the escape. Tsukasa mourns Senku at a supposed grave-site, accompanied by Hyoga. They discover a buried cellphone there.

Tsukasa and Hyoga head to the Miracle Cave to reunite with other members of the Kingdom of Might. Tsukasa encounters Senku after a year and expresses his desire to kill him. A battle ensues between the Kingdom of Science and Tsukasa and Hyoga. Although Tsukasa initially gains the upper hand, Senku, Gen, and Chrome create nitroglycerin. Senku uses it to create a weapon that causes an explosion, convincing Tsukasa of its destructive potential. Upon seeing Ukyo's arrows dipped in nitroglycerin, Tsukasa chooses to surrender to Senku.

Kingdom of Science and Empire of Might Armistice[]

Senku proposed to Tsukasa that he could use the depetrification process to revive Tsukasa's sister, even from her previous brain death. Tsukasa accepted this offer and agreed to a truce with Senku. Senku then unearthed her petrified statue and used nitric acid to depetrify her. To everyone's relief, Mirai not only returned to her former state but was also revived from her prior brain death. Tsukasa warmly embraced his sister and chose to stay with her.

Tsukasa and Senku vs. Hyoga[]

Sometime later while Mirai was unoccupied and fishing at a nearby river, Hyoga attempted to kill her but Tsukasa took the fatal blow to his chest. Senku tried to prevent Tsukasa from falling into the river but Hyoga pushed them in and followed him. Later at night, Hyoga confronts Senku about having him join with him to create a better civilization than before the petrification. While Senku tried to get away from Hyoga, Tsukasa attacked him and with both his and Senku's effort, they manage to take down Hyoga.

Death and Revival[]

Tsukasa suffered a life-threatening injury to his lung, with no access to medical care or advanced technology. With only days left to live, he rested while considering his fate. Senku proposed a radical plan: to save Tsukasa, he suggested killing him and preserving his body in a cryogenic freezer. This way, they could use the mysterious petrification process to heal Tsukasa's fatal wound. Tsukasa agreed to this plan, knowing that Senku had previously killed him. After constructing the cryogenic freezer, Senku had a final conversation with Tsukasa and carried out the plan, placing Tsukasa's body in the freezer for future revival.

Following the Perseus crew's return from Treasure Island with the Medusa device, Tsukasa undergoes another round of petrification and revival, effectively curing his life-threatening injuries.
