Tung Fu Rue is one of the heroes from Fatal Fury.
Biography
Fatal Fury
The legendary master of Hakkyokuseiken, Tung Fu Rue was the former master of Jeff Bogard and the power hungry businessman Geese Howard. Although he trained both men, he hoped that Jeff would be his only successor because he showed the proper etiquette for a honorable warrior. However, Geese caught the wind and murdered Jeff because of jealousy. Although Tung was saddened by the failure, he gave up the idea of adopting a successor. When Tung entered the The King of Fighters tournament held by Geese in 1991, he was eventually defeated.
In his ending of Fatal Fury Special, he seemed to be over-exercising and hospitalized. This scenario is probably a callback to the first OVA because he is good for the rest of the series. However, he can decide to spend the rest of his life while retiring and occasionally participate in the competition to stay in shape. Although he had taught Terry for a while, Tung had a policy of rejecting any other disciples.
He seems to have broken through this in Real Bout, apparently making the Jin brothers his apprentice. Some endings in Real Bout 2 show that he only accepts Jin Chonrei as his apprentice, and Jin Chonshu stays with Kim Kaphwan.
The King of Fighters
He's established to have connections with Saisyu Kusanagi and Chin Gentsai in this series. Before The King of Fighters XIV, Tung was found the orphan Shun'ei. Sensing good in the boy, Tung raised Shun'ei as his last disciple.
Personality
Tung is wise and calm, always thinking twice before he acts. He is always eager to help those of good will. His "relaxed" nature is sometimes used for comedic factor in the games.
