Twelve Guardian Lords

The Twelve Guardian Lords are the deuteragonists in the action isekai anime, manga and light novel series That time I got Reincarnated as a Slime. They are Rimuru’s 12 top subordinates within Tempest who have earned the title “Lord” as well as being able to be awakened into “True Demon Lords”.

Ranga: He joined Rimuru after witnessing the death of his father, the leader of the Dire Wolf who was killed the slime to save the goblin village he was protecting. Although only him was named by Rimuru, the rest of the clan also evolved. Hence, all the wolves are named Ranga. Along with the wolves they bowed down to show honor to Rimuru. Rimuru then pairs the rest of his clan with the goblin with him remaining in his new master’s shadow. Further on in the series, Ranga would protect the Goblins after confronting the Ogres he also participated in the battle against the Orcs. Due to him often remaining inside Rimuru’s shadow, his aura was able to absorb its energy giving him more powers as the series progressed. He also befriended with Gobuta, which he oftens ride on Ranga’s back during battles. Ranga was rewarded with 100,000 souls and was given the name “Star Lord” from the Easter Empire. He would later on evolve into an Divine Monster under the name of Wind Spirit Wolf.

Benimaru: He met Rimuru alongside other Ogres as they tried to attack Rimuru after their village was attacked by Orcs. He and the other Ogres then allied with Rimuru and received names from him in a result they evolved into Kijins. Benimaru participated in the battle against the orc army, to which after the battle he tells Rimuru that he continue serving him as well as holding an important place in his future Country. However he was required to have off-spring as a requirement.
Shion: Like Benimaru she meet alongside other Ogres as they tried to attack Rimuru after their village was attacked by Orcs. she and the other Ogres then allied with Rimuru and received names from him in a result they evolved into Kijins. Shion participated in the battle against the orc army, to which after the battle she tells Rimuru that he continue serving him as well as holding an important place in his future Country. Unlike Benimaru she didn’t require an offspring to evolve.

Gabiru: Formerly known under the name of Gelmud, but was however renamed by Rimuru amongthe fifth group of the monsters. He used to work for his father the leader of his tribe, but was kicked out of the tribe. Gelmud was the name of another lizard, which after the death of the original owner of the name, his given status appeared non-existent. However Rimuru was able to “rename” Gabiru into Gabiru for a second time, causing him to evolves into a Dragonewt. Upon evolving he eventually created his own group which he named Hiryuu, known as the aerial force within Tempest. Which it was stated that at some point his squad was the most powerful within the city. He has been shown to be a very good spearman, with being able to holds against Pico someoe who is also very skilled at using spears in combat. He was later on rewarded 100,000 souls along with given the title ‘Dragon Lord“ giving an evolution that is similar to his previous dragon transformation after the defeat of the Eastern Empire.

Geld: He is an orc that used to work for his father, the Orc Disaster who had the same name but was passed down to him after being consumed by Rimuru. He was given his name because, Rimuru saw his wishes of faith for his father and of other’s sin while in the Jura Forest. He stated that due to his father’s mistake he is working very hard in order not to. With his new given name, it also caused him to evolve into an Orc King. would further on become the head of the Engineering Corp in Tempest as well as taking part on the construction and defensives projects and in planning on the battle army for strategies. After the defeated of the Eastern Empire, he was rewarded with 100,000 souls along with the title “Barrier Lord”, causing him to evolve into an Awakened Demon Lord.

Kumara: She was formerly Clayman's subordinate and was part of the group known as the Five Fingers under the name of "Thumb Fingers". She was recruited by Rimuru, upon being forced by Clayman to face against the Demon Lords Banquet. Rimuru broke Clayman's curse that was in her. She later on join Rimuru's Twelve Guardians and given the name Kumara. After the victory against the Eastern Empire, she received 100,000 souls as well as the title "Chimeric Lord". She would receive her final evolution while Rimuru went to fight Rudra and Velgrynd and would obtain the skill "Mythical Beast King Bahamut". She would also later on be ordered by Masayuki to take care of the childrens in the War of Tenma Great.

In the battle of Tempest against Empire's Armored Division, Raphael informed Rimuru that he can convert human souls into fuels with the use of Rimuru's ultimate skill, Ultimate Skill Beelzebuth. Which they can use the fuel to evolve majin and daemon that are certified into True Demon Lords by using 100,000 souls for each of them. Rimuru was later on able to gather 940,000 souls that are mainly from powerful beings such as a Enlightened and Saints who have more energy than other beings. The souls that he collected was actually parallel to a million of quantity of souls which Rimuru uses to evolve 10 of his subordinates into True Demon Lords. However they could not receive the same title of "True Demon Lord" each, but Rimuru instead gave them a unique title that ends with "Lord" each which also granted them as immortal beings and member of the administration of Tempest. In the exception of the Three Devil Girls did not received title at that time until the last fight against Empire’s forces, which the trio would also evolve as well by using the soul that he collected from Guy Crimson.
