~ Viole to Urek Mazino. |
The Twenty-Fifth Baam, or Baam for short, is the main protagonist of the adventure manhwa and anime series Tower of God. He is a lonesome boy on the journey of trying to complete a tower to reunite with Rachel, a girl who befriended him when he got out of a cave. After having achieved his goal earlier than he expected, little did Baam know that Rachel beared great envy for him, leading her to reject his friendship by pushing him into the abyss of the Underwater Test. Baam would later be recruited by a FUG member who promised him great power if he joined their organization.
In Part 2 of the manhwa/Season 2 of the anime, fast forward 2 years later through training as a FUG candidate, Baam adopts the alias of Jyu/Jue Viole Gras and meets Ja Wangnang, a determined Regular who holds a solid ambition to become the King of the Tower despite having failed the tests of the 20th Floor numerous time already.
He is voiced by Taichi Ichikawa in Japanese and by Johnny Yong Bosch in English.
Appearance[]
Baam is a regular-looking pre-teenage boy with ear-length brown messy hair and golden eyes. At the start of his journey of participating in the exam, he wore a red vest with button over a brown cloth with long sleeve along with a scarf that goes from his chest to surrounding his neck, beige jeans, and a pair of brown shoes.
As Viole, Baam exhibits a more mysterious appearance, emphasized by his longer dark brown hair tied back, often framing his face. He switches to a long black robe adorned with bold red and white eye-like patterns on the lower half. The high collar of his robe adds to his enigmatic aura.
Personality[]
Baam is a cautious and brave boy with great determination to reach his goals. Although, he has high lack of self-confidence, his deep commitment for his sole goal of meeting his first ever friend he ever had made him made him very bold and fearless to almost any extent just to meet Rachel. Such case can be seen when he dealt with fearsome opponents like Rak Wraithraiser by throwing his weapon aside and remaining fearless and calm, knowing that the latter cannot make a decision to fight him without his weapon as Rak seems as not worth to kill someone powerless. On casual situations, Baam remains quiet and curious, unbothered by how others view him and being laughed at, such as when Baam expressed his fascination about what the sky was, due to having spent most of his life underground, and is indifferent by how Rak was laughing at him for learning something so ubiquitous.
Baam is also a honorable and respectful person, willing to do what he believes to be moral or the right thing, like the case when he somehow ended up on the other side of the water barrier that Lero Ro created to them, while other participants were pushed on the other side of the wall, Baam notified Lero that he was already on the other side and was willing to go back to be on a equal terms with the other participants. He acts friendly and is cautious to the questions he asks.
Jue Grace Viole[]
After adopting the idendity of Viole, Baam becomes more quiet, cold, emotioneless, and ruthless, very differently from his innocent, naive, and curious demeanor, prior to being betrayed by Rachel. As long as it takes him to achieve his goal, Viole virtually shows no remorse to overwhelm his opponent. He showed no sympathy to almost anyone at the start of Part/Season 2 of the series, such as ignoring Ja Wangnan's friendly demeanor to team up with him during the exam of the 20th Floor. He later denied all the other test participants' idea to vote to decide who leaves and tells everyone that they will all leave instead, triggering a fight among. Viole is unfazed challenges that may even take his life, accepting Mule Love's test of the 20th Floor.
