Though our fair homeland is beset on all sides, we shall resist, as our fathers did before us. In these dark times, as our tainted brethren ravage our shores, we stand defiant and shall emerge victorious. For we are the Asur, the true kin of Aenarion, and Ulthuan shall never fall.
~ Tyrion rallying a battle cry for his nation and race.

Prince Tyrion is a major character in Warhammer Fantasy Battle and one of the main characters in the High Elf faction.

Tyrion is a High Elf, a race renowned for their longevity, connections and ties with the arcane and ancient history, high proficiency in magic and possessing some of the finest martial prowess in the world. A descendant of the legendary hero Aenarion, Tyrion is a High Elven Prince and candidate to becoming the Phoenix King of Ulthuan. He is among the greatest warriors the world has ever seen, his swordplay and combat experience said to have been unrivaled by anyone he has battled against, but unlike many of his peers, Tyrion is not skilled in the arts of diplomacy, with much of his personal interest simply being about defending Ulthuan and looking after his younger twin brother, Teclis.

In the Total War: Warhammer series, Tyrion is voiced by Mark Noble.

Personality[]

Tyrion is defined by his loyalty towards Ulthuan and the Phoenix King Finubar and even more so by his attention and protectiveness for his younger twin brother, Teclis. A man raised to uphold the ethics and teachings of his nation and race, Tyrion maintains a code of honor and strives to earn the adoration and respect of the High Elves.

Despite his fame and reputation as a stalwart general and a near-unmatched warrior, Tyrion was surprisingly humble and reserved for such a man, especially for an elf. Like many of his kind, he was sometimes aloof and even dismissive, to the point of rudeness, but unlike most elves of high position and authority, Tyrion hardly, if ever, expressed any interest in the ways of politics, something that Teclis personally excelled in. He personally found some of the high-ranked elves to be rather arrogant for his liking, but respected their occupation nonetheless. Yet despite this, Tyrion was just as capable of being impressionable and charming, a major reason in why most were able to admire and follow him.

Above all, Tyrion dearly loved his younger brother above everything else. In spite of all their differences and their differing reputation among the High Elves, Tyrion always stood up for Teclis and would almost immediately call out anyone who dared to mock him for his physical frailty as well as defend him anytime he sensed Teclis was in dire threat. Despite the High Queen, Alarielle being married to Finubar, she and Tyrion had a strong romantic bond with one another to the point where the two had each other as consorts. In addition to loyalty, this evolved into romantic and even familial affection when Alarielle's daughter Allisara had Tyrion as her biological father, and would be driven to save her at all costs when he realized that Aliathra was kidnapped by the Tomb Kings during the End Times in their efforts to revive Nagash.

Despite his legendary fame as a hero, Tyrion possessed the Blood of Aenarion. Although descended from Aenarion, this also meant that his descendants inherited his curse back when Aenarion picked up the Sword of Khaine, and Tyrion was no exception. In his case, he subconsciously developed a sense of bloodlust and rage that he would do his very best to keep subdued. Tyrion's greatest fear, aside from seeing Ulthuan corrupted and/or destroyed to to see himself succumbing to the temptations of Khaine, the elven god of war, as he feels that doing so would cause him to become the antithesis of everything he and Ulthuan stand for.

Powers and Armaments[]

Tyrion is one of the greatest warriors his world has ever seen. With thousands of years of experience and having been trained by seasoned veterans of war, Tyrion proved to be an incredibly formidable fighter whose skill and strength was matched by very few, if hardly anyone at all. This made him Ulthuan's greatest source of morale and their main hero when it came to the opposition of their enemies, especially the Dark Elves. Being a warrior in his prime, Tyrion was as powerful as he is fast, personally able to take on the strongest foes directly without aid and either defeat them or come to a standstill. In addition to his master swordsmanship, Tyrion was also a just and flexible general, capable of inspiring fellow elves into fighting for him and a skilled tactician, able to determine and decipher a battlefield, his army's strength and resources and his enemies' equipment and how to deal with them.

In combat, Tyrion mounts Malhandir, an Elven Steed who has come to be seen as among the greatest of his kind and defined by his stalwart loyalty to Tyrion whom he has been ridden by for thousands of years.

Like every other leader and lord, Tyrion possesses a range of armaments and equipment that he brings into whatever battles he participates in...

  • Sunfang: A legendary sword that was created by the Elven archmage Caledor Dragontamer during the first Incursion of Chaos during Aenarion's reign. Infused with the power of Aqshy, the Lore of Fire, the sword can be set ablaze, its fires being stated to be as hot as the sun. Being magically enchanted, Sunfang can never be dulled and it's four-feet length provides a long reach and extra power.
  • Dragon Armor of Aenarion: The prized armor that was once worn by Aenarion, the first Phoenix King. It boasts incredible magical defense for the wearer, amplifies their strength, and allows their voice to have their voice be heard to anyone who is part of the wearer's army, regardless of distance and any interrupting voice.
  • Heart of Avelorn: An enchanted ruby with a deep crimson color scheme. It is a gift of love delivered to Tyrion by Alarielle. The ruby is intended to protect it's wielder from death and, indeed, the stone will resurrect Tyrion in the event he is killed. This is not without heavy drawbacks as the ruby would shatter upon revival and Tyrion and Alarielle's bond would also erode into nonexistence.
